In the closing stages of World War Two a French resistance fighter makes an impossible decision. His decision has devastating repercussions for all around him with the ripples continuing to affect people near and far. He runs and hides to evade his future, whilst forces range against him to bring him to face his accusers. All the while he has to choose between the love of his wife and that of his lover.
