LURED in the WOODS. Unexplained Disappearances in the Woods: Missing People. Kindle Edition

4.2 out of 5 stars 156 ratings

People in the Woods are disappearing....People snatched soundlessly, never to be seen again. Something in the Woods is taking people... hikers missing in national parks. Don't go in the Woods...

Something in the woods is taking people. Something unknown that we cannot define; something that others have had the misfortune to encounter. People snatched soundlessly, never to be seen again. Or they are returned; dead. Strange and highly unusual predators are in the woods. Highly intelligent. Very successful. And able to overpower someone in an instant. This is a puzzle. A deadly one. Here follows some disturbing true accounts....True Stories of Unexplained Disappearances in the Woods.

Natural predators can lurk in the wilderness; bears, mountain lions, cougars, and occasionally a hiker will be victim to these wild animals. They feed where they kill or drag their bloody victim to a nearby lair; they leave a trail that is obvious to searchers. However, the victims in this book show no evidence of an animal attack. For these victims, there is no logical explanation.... only cryptic mysteries, enigma and many unanswered questions... Something in the Woods is taking people: Baffling, strange cases.

Love these books, mind bending, bizarre, thought provoking, there are times when they make you think " I'm going into the woods to look for answers" then you realise that would be a bad idea

I have a lot of Steph Young's books and find them fascinating. I highly recommend them as there are many gripping stories in the books. My only criticism is that there appears to be a lack of proofreading, leaving the books, in parts, with ridiculous spelling mistakes (eg: in one story, Giordano Bruno was written as Gordono, Giordono, and another form or two, all differing and within the space of a few paragraphs) There were also paragraphs that were repeated.
Steph, I love your books and will do the proofreading for you if you like.

Excellent read once again. Really enjoy the way it's written and the diversity of the reasons for the disappearances. It gets my attention because the book not only focuses on one part of the world but does incorporate stories from the uk.

I have read a few of Steph Young's books now, all very interesting and thought provoking. She collects stories that show this world is an awful lot stranger than we think, and I am not so happy about going into woods anymore!

5.0 out of 5 stars A collection of bizarre stories of disappearance and more

This is a unique collection of stories about disappearances, Bigfoot , aliens, and so much more. Have you ever wondered if there is a Bigfoot out there in the woods, or is that bright light an alien ship? This collection of stories shares with you what happened in specific cases that were investigated by authorities. I find this type of story fascinating and enjoy reading stories like this. Steph Young has put together a well written and exciting book that shared many short experiences that have taken place over the years. You be the judge. Fact or Fiction? This is a great read check it out amd let me know what you think. You will not be disappointed.

4.0 out of 5 stars Chilling Collection of Short Stories

This collection of short stories was chilling. The short stories are made up of true and horrifying stories of strange sightings and mysterious disappearances that have taken place in the woods. The collection is written like articles giving the facts and quotes but also in an engaging way that really exemplifies the bone-chilling aspects of the stories. I love reading stories like this even though they also scare me. The book was a fun read with the stories being in a variety of different lengths and levels of terrifying. If you like reading strange and creepy stories, then I would definitely recommend reading this collection.

I have about eight of Steph's books, and I keep buying them because she has such a nice writing style and the stories have the ring of Truth to them !!!
But she does a couple of things that are very annoying, one of them is that she repeats stories from book to book, and an even more annoying feature is; that within any given story, she'll often repeat herself repeatedly, telling the same story or details, over and over again in what may occasionally seem like an endless loop for several pages !!!
The third annoying attribute of some of her stories, but not all, is that she'll begin to _wildly_ speculate as to what the possible explanation for the mystery is, and again she'll use this method embedded within her circling writing style so that she repeats some idea over and over and over again, ultimately without any resolution.

5.0 out of 5 stars This book did not disappoint

I'm a big fan of not knowing what's next, when books are full of surprises or they are unpredictable I find them to be great reads, which is just what LURED in the WOODS is. I found this book to be very interesting and fascinating. I have listened to the podcast before and many of the accounts are very similar if not the same as discussed in the podcast. It'll keep you on your toes, it is full of suspense and will make you feel like you are right there with the characters. The only critique I would give this book is the flow of it. It wasn't as smooth as many others novels I've read, but it was still interesting which is why I gave it a 5 out of 5. I found myself going back a few times to reread the material. There could have been a better transition from account to account. Otherwise, this is a great read.

4.0 out of 5 stars Like a haunted house

This book highlights the true-life, bizarre experiences of people going through the woods. It opens with the story of a hiker named Rodney Letterman who goes through some scary experiences while hiking with his friends in the Devil’s Den State Park in Arkansas on Sunday August 27th, 2017.
If you are looking for a book that can make your blood go cold and curdling, you will surely like Steph Young’s Lured in the Woods. There are accounts of missing hikers, strange sounds and strange sights, shapeshifters, scarecrows that appear like they are alive, mannequins that follow people around like zombies, and predator-like invisible entities that stalk you from time to time.
Going into the woods sometimes, according to Steph Young, is like going into a haunted house.
