A Regency Romance and Murder Mystery Box Set Kindle Edition
Leaving behind the rural charms of Finnshire, Miss Penelope Fairweather arrives in London with hope in her heart and a dream in her eye. The dowager, no less, has invited her for a season in London, where she will attempt to catch a husband.
Thus begins our heroine’s tale as she attempts to tackle the London season with all her rustic finesse. Unfortunately her rustic finesse turns out to be as delicate as a fat bear trying to rip apart a honeycomb infested with buzzing bees.
What follows is a series of misadventures, love affairs, moonlit balls, fancy clothes, fake moustaches, highwaymen, sneering beauties, pickpockets, and the wrath of a devilishly handsome duke.
Book 2: The Wicked Wager
The infamous rake, Lord Richard Hamilton, has finally chosen his bride—the very appropriate Miss Emma Grey.
The ton approves, Lord Grey is pleased, Lady Grey delighted, and Emma is over the moon, but her uncle, (the blasted) Duke of Arden opposes the match, and Emma is ordered to move to the duke’s estate to think things over.
Richard Hamilton refuses to take things lying down and concocts a plan. A plan that should have brought the lovers together and had them married within a month. It was a simple matter of masquerading as the duke’s gardener, compromising the lady, and then having the duke rush them off to Gretna Green.
Alas, he underestimates the duke’s intelligence and the tangled situation on the estate—never had he imagined that compromising a lady could be so difficult.
His endeavours lead to a comedy of errors, charades, and knotty love affairs. Yet he forges ahead in spite of pesky house guests, a flea bitten mattress, his lovesick best friend, and a blackmailer.
Just when things seem to be going well, someone is murdered (very inconvenient), and he happens to be one of the suspects (extremely inconvenient).
His simple plan for winning the wager suddenly becomes … a tad complicated.
Book 3: Murder At Rudhall Manor
A murder and a theft have been committed at Rudhall Manor. A box of jewels has vanished and Lord Sedley, a lusty old aristocrat, has been stabbed six times in the chest.
It is all very mysterious, and the Sedley family and the servants have decided that Miss Lucy Anne Trotter, a recently employed governess, is to blame for the unfortunate events.
The legendary and wickedly handsome Marquis, Lord William Adair, learns of the matter and decides to uncover the truth.
Lucy, however, has little faith in blue blooded creatures—even if they possess dashing good looks— and, accompanied by two naughty pugs and a moody raven, decides to investigate and unmask the killer herself.
But the hunt for the killer turns out to be far more complicated than she anticipates—what with snooty servants, warts in odd places, mixed up love affairs, agitated chickens and dreadful disguises ruining her plans.
Soon she begins to wonder if, for once, she is in over her head….

- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 11 July 2017I got this set free, which is such a great way of trying new authors. Although I tend to like my historical stories to be true to the times, which I felt this wasn't, I quickly forgot this and got into the stories very quickly. There are not many stories I laugh aloud, but here are three of them. I thought they were well written and read them with enjoyment and laughter. The last one is unusual, but entertaining. I have downloaded quite a few free books recently, but this a writer I whose books I shall be happy to buy.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 22 April 2019Books worth considering as sparkling humorous reads. They are witty and laugh out loud funny. I will continue disappointed seek out the author's penmanship.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 7 June 2019This is a boxset of 3 books which I downloaded for free on Amazon, without realising that I’d already previously bought (but not read) 2 of the books. The first is a sparkling & funny read. I have no idea whether the setting & writing is historically correct or not as these things don’t bother me too much. These books are all clean reads, but they do need further editing. I would read the next book(s) in the Fairweather Sisters series, but I will probably not read any other books by this author.
Penelope (The Fairweather Sisters, Book 1) - I really enjoyed this book although it was a bit unrealistic (the Duke letting the highwayman go?), predictable (of course the Duke falls for the country bumpkin) & comical (being chased from a soirée by a pet “cat”). Miss Penelope Fairweather is sponsored by Duke Charles Radclyff to attend a London season as his dowager mother was friends with her mother & had made her a promise. Penelope has to make a good match, but she knows little of the ways of the ton so the dowager hires Madam Bellafonte to dress her & teach her the basics (how to curtsy, walk, dance, converse...) The Duke is not happy with having Penelope staying with them: she’s clumsy, leads his sister astray, & is desperate to win herself a husband, willingly compromising herself with him, if need be. He is determined to have her sent back to Finnshire, but with a hateful stepmother & 5 younger sisters, Penelope knows she cannot go back home. Despite his gruffness towards her, Penelope slowly falls for the Duke, who doesn’t believe in love & is engaged to the mean & spiteful Lady Lydia. The Duke, likewise, is shocked to realise that he is developing feelings for Penelope, & all the more determined to get rid of her. She should be happy when, after being caught in a compromising place with the Duke, he announces that they’re engaged, but she’s not. How is the Duke going to win her hand, when she disappears? 4*
His Wicked Wager - This was not as good as “Penelope”, despite it being a suspense romance with a bit of fun. Lady Emma is engaged to Earl Richard, who doesn’t want a long engagement, but Emma’s uncle, the Duke, insists they wait a year before marrying. Emma goes to her uncle’s as she hopes she can persuade him to shorten the engagement, but Richard decides on a wager to trick the Duke by applying for the position of head gardener. Emma believes he must love her if he’s willing to give up his creature comforts for a month. However, when Emma starts seeking out the “old” head gardener, the Duke invites the Earl to stay at his home. Richard asks his friend, Lord Raikes to pretend to be him. Problems arise as Emma doesn’t know Raikes & struggles to pretend to be in love with him. Meanwhile her cousin & best friend, Catherine, is attracted to Lord Raikes (the fake fiancé) as he is with her. Richard is blackmailed & tries to find evidence against the blackmailer, but there’s a murderer on the loose. Everyone in the house is a suspect. Will Emma & Richard get their wish for a short engagement? Will Catherine allow Lord Raikes to woo her after she finds out his deceit? Or will the Duke, who has the ultimate say, ruin all their plans? 3.5*
Murder At Rudhall Manor - I did not like this book & very nearly gave up many times! There were several annoying typos/ spelling mistakes etc, which spellcheck would not find. This was not funny (although it tried). There was not enough romance. I found Lucy to be an irritating character with a lack of common sense (for instance, she thought no one would notice her wandering about the house dressed as a tree...) Lord Adair was too “cool” & never seemed to do any investigating, although he did have an uncanny sense of knowing someone was there. The children were not sweet, but annoying. However, I did not suspect the murderer (or the thief)...2*
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 2 July 2017I was away and had run out of books so took a chance on this book as it looked light and entertaining. It was a revelation as it reminded me of one of my favourite author Darling P.G. the comic twists and turns, feisty females and besotted males getting into seemingly ungettoutable troubles were very enjoyable and I couldn't stop reading. Great holiday read.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 11 June 2017I already owned Penelope and the wicked wager however as this trio was free I decided to get it for the final story. I enjoyed Penelope as much this time as the last it is not a story to be taken seriously it is incredibly silly but very amusing. The second story was a little dull but we'll written. Unfortunately, the final story was very disappointing, it was rather ridiculous although I liked aunt Sedly, Lord Adair appears in Penelope but in this story his character is so completely different also I was unable to work out whether this was before or after Penelope
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 7 June 2017I have only read the first book so far and it has been such a pleasure. The author has played with the genre beautifully, teasing it to its limits without taking it to extreme parody. I can't wait to read the rest.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 19 July 2017Story to long so most interest ending up fast forwarding to the end.. A little disappointing. Will try another of her books and see if it holds my interest

5.0 out of 5 stars ***EXACTLY WHAT A GOOD BOOK SHOULD BE!***
I won't give a step by step to everything in these stories since that has already been done a couple of times, but what I will say is that these books are everything that a book should be for a fun romantic escape from reality. Can I just say that I love box sets! Especially when they have three great books. The character are fun, real life and as zany as I am! The characters are well developed as is the romance and mystery the entwines in the stories. I just love when a book makes me laugh out loud (despite the funny looks I get from others) and these books fit that bill for sure.
BTW.. the romance in these books are wonderful... sweet passionate.. all that a romance should be. The kind that just makes my tummy flip and a goofy smile to spread across my face. What I especially love about these is that the romance while being hot and passionate DOES NOT go into the other parts of romance that are best kept behind bedroom doors.
The mystery is real and delightful... lol I could just go on about these stories and the writes attributes all day but... let me just stop now and say: Stop reading Reviews and Buy this box set! This author will not let you down!!
Happy Reading!!

All three books are totally different and totally delicious. With twists and turns you will not expect and also staying true to Regency times.
They were so much fun to read.

4.0 out of 5 stars Four Stars
Enjoyable read. A bit predictable at points is about the only real criticism.

5.0 out of 5 stars A fantastic collection
It is very rare that three books in a collection are good, but it is with this one. The first one I had read and loved before and the last two were new reads. Each of the book are filled with lovable, little whacky characters. Except the first, the next two are cracking detective stories as well.
The second book wicked wager was especially interesting to me because the plot line is somewhat same to a very hit 60s bengali movie called "Chadabeshi" (The imposter) remade in Hindi as Chupke chupke. So it was fun to imagine it in a different time era but the writer has so well transported it.
The last book is a mixture of ghost and detective and has the whackiest characters in all but is a bit boring in parts. And the fact it does not end up in a love story is a surprise and very practical. The love story could have been looked forced. I want another adventure of Lord Adair, Lucy and the ghost of Aunt Sedley.

1.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing
Didn't like it at all. Only read part of the first book.
