An Assassin's Blade: The Complete Trilogy Kindle Edition
This collection includes all three novels in An Assassin’s Blade, a dark epic fantasy about an infamous assassin with a woeful reputation, a malevolent nightmare that’s returned from beyond the grave, and gods who must die in order for life to prevail.
Book 1: The Misbegotten
Astul, assassin by day and purveyor of secrets at night, has agreed to hunt down a king slayer. Somewhat for the money, a little for the ego, and a bit for the adventure... but mostly for the money.
There's just one problem. The king slayer's trail leads to a cache of disturbing secrets involving insane kings, mad queens and kingdoms suddenly poised for a war to end all wars. People seem to be losing their minds. Or rather, forfeiting them.
Something harrowing lingers and lurks in the world of Mizridahl. And only an infamous assassin with a woeful reputation is aware.
Conjurers have returned.
Book 2: The Miscreant
There is a realm the living were never supposed to visit and the dead were never supposed to leave. The rules have changed.
Astul, an infamous assassin with a woeful reputation, finds his brother's corpse curiously absent from its tomb. This amid accusations that grave robbers are terrorizing the world of Mizridahl. But Astul soon discovers the cadavers aren't being robbed. They're being gathered. Harvested.
A dreadful enigma creeps into Mizridahl, with the might of an army that was never supposed to see the living realm again. Astul lost nearly everything dear to him when conjurers swept across his world four months ago. Now he stands to lose the rest.
Conjurers were the beginning. This is the end.
Book 3: The Misjudgment
Gods are real, and it’s time for them to die.
Astul, an infamous assassin with a woeful reputation, never believed in gods. As luck would have it, they’re quite real. And if they have their way, Astul will be quite dead.
A civil war is brewing between the celestial powers. And all of life hangs in the balance. If victory falls into the wrong hands, creation will begin anew. There’s only one way to guarantee that doesn’t happen, and it involves the assassination of a lifetime.
Gods will die. Or else life will expire.

- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 23 November 2017I loved the first book and the ideas it contained but by the end of the third was a bit let-down. The myths and legends coming to life felt a bit false.
Well written although some of the descriptive scenes were confusing as I wasn't sure whether the author was using metaphors or the actual events were happening. Always difficult to combine the fantasy world with multi-dimensional sci-fi stuff and in the end I thought it got a bit silly, but I enjoyed the series all the same.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 6 March 2017so this came up on my 99p offers and I thought - why not, I like a bit of assassins fiction, I've played assassins creed, should be fun....
the book starts off good, the humour in the first chapter had me giggling out loud and I though I was onto a winner, however, the story soon progresses into less assassin more leading an army fighting magic beings, conjurers and the undead, travelling between our world and the world of the dead and thus saving the world.
which is all well and good but that's not what the title suggests.
I have to confess, I loved the character of Astul, he's an assassin with a heart ( if he ever does get around to the assassin bit), but I got really bored really quickly, the plot was confusing at times and I did end up skim reading a lot juts to finish it.
read it if you enjoy anti hero's battling magic beings in a fantasy world, but for me , the title mislead me.

No seriously it's a really great story about a band of assassins and some. Read it is can't see you being disappointed. Trust me I'm a doctor, not really I'm a chef, but the book is fantastic.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 14 February 2017I didn't have particularly high expectations of these books, but the reviews seemed pretty positive and at the ridiculously low price it definitely seemed worth a punt. To my pleasant surprise, I discovered them to be an engrossing read - well written, with strong characters and good storylines. I will be looking out for more by this author.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 20 February 2017Very enjoyable read. Loved the style of writing with its pace, humour and dark sides. The story itself unfolded bit by bit with divergences that gave added interest. Astuls character, though bleak at times, drew you in as did his companions. Killers you get to like, that's different! Would certainly recommend this series and look forward to reading his next (when he gets round to it 😀).
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 25 January 2017I did really enjoy this story. The main character strongly reminds me of the sci-fi character Stainless Steel Rat but of course the backdrop is sword and sorcery rather than space.
Fast paced and a reasonably goid storyline with surprisingly few mistakes in the text kept it interesting. I recommend it :-)
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 24 March 2017All good Sword and Sorcery stories contain one particular 'magic' element...they transport the reader to another place and another time. This story has that particular element. It unfolds in an indeterminate location either well in the past or in the future...and so far so good. There is also excellent descriptive detail throughout that draws the reader in...BUT. And for me it is a BIG but. My enjoyment was dampened by the leading character / narrators persistent use of 20th / 21st Century American slang. The story abounds with 'ass' 'asses' and 'butts' and is liberally sprinkled with 'wannas', 'wouldas', 'cuddas', 'shuddas' etc. There are also references to someone being 'hit upside the head', (Oops) and someone 'fessing up', etc, etc.
Now if the leading character/narrator was a 20/25 year old, 21st Century American Time Traveller, I could just about accept the lingo. He patently isn't!

5.0 out of 5 stars Compelling books
The assassin's blade is full of knowledge is the world of an assassin with magical people that manipulate
Lives and desire the world they the assassins live in as there own.
Throw in some gods and goddesses and you soon have a really great story line.

3.0 out of 5 stars Hard to judge for me
The plot is actually great. The writing skills... Very often he starts building up towards a peak which is really dragging you into the story just to end it in a few lines. In big stretches, especially until maybe the last third of the second book, the story, the landscape and characters seemed a bit flat to me. But still a quite good read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fun, adventurous and not your everyday "hero" stories!
I bought this trilogy as a $0.99 special. I can't even begin to describe how surprised i was with the author's writing, the depth of the stories and the character development. I love these books! Quite a bit of foul language and adult humor and concepts so its definitely not for younger or easily offended readers. But it fits the main character perfectly as a cocky and competent leader of a questionable profession. Each books stands pretty well on its own because they each focus on a completely different story line. This is a good and bad thing in my eyes. Great for the casual reader. But being very independent from each other, it does feel like reading three different stories rather than an ongoing triology. If I had known how good these stories were, I would have happily paid full purchase price for all three of them.

5.0 out of 5 stars A very welcome surprise
I have high hopes when starting a new trilogy, but they are often not fully realized. An Assassin's Blade is one of those rare exceptions where I am sorry the story has ended. There are surprising twists throughout this trilogy and our heroes - Astul, Vayle and Lysa are characters to remember as they fight men, magic and gods across the realms of the living and the dead. A very enjoyable read!
