Demon Hunter: An Urban Fantasy Novel (Viking Soul Book 1) Kindle Edition
Witches, vampires and shifters used to fear me in their sleep, afraid that I would kill them for their dealings with demons. Now I, the ancient Norse warrior, grandson of Thor, hunter of demons, am little more than a myth. That is about to change.
After being alive for a thousand years, my hunt for demons is coming to an end… and so is my life. With only five ancient evil ones hiding in the modern world of paranormals, I’m on their trail, trying to return them to hell before they turn the underground into their playground.
When Chloe finds me, she claims she’s a gift from the gods, sent to help me defeat those who would drag the paranormal creatures into the depths of their evil. Will I find the demons in time to not only save London, but to save myself too?

- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 29 December 2016I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.
I completely fell in love with this book pretty much as soon as i stared reading it, and the way it ended...Wow! That is definitely one way to leave us craving for more...I can't wait to read the next book and hope it won't be too long before it is written and published.
Ever since i was young i have had an obsession with Vikings and their mythology and deities, their whole belief system fascinates me so as you can imagine this book was a perfect fit for me! An immortal viking warrior fighting evil...it just gets better and better!
The storyline for this catches your attention literally from the first sentence, you are seriously hooked and can't stop turning pages to find out what is going to happen next in this action packed tale. The way that the author wrote this story is very compelling and she creates a magical world where you feel like you are part of the story, she is an extremely talented author and after reading this book i will definitely be reading all of her books!
There are three characters that are in most of this story, Tryggar, Chloe and Jack. Jack has to be my first mention, i adored his character, he made me smile a lot throughout the book - there is just something so endearing about him. My favourite character was definitely Chloe, although she can come across as meek and mild, there is definitely more to her than meets the eye, there is a definite steel to her and i loved that...You see her progress so much throughout the book and it is brilliant to see. And of course who doesn't love an immortal viking who has serious social issues and all he wants is to do what he wants to he. He is stubborn and used to his own way so it's brilliant to see when this doesn't happen and when his authority is challenged.
I really did adore this book and is well worth the 5* rating, an amazing must read that will have you obsessively turning pages!!!
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 8 April 2018I really enjoyed this book. I liked that Ms Medhurst used Norse mythology as a base for her take, I enjoyed meeting our main cast of characters- their quirks and personalities kept me interested in them and the plot was not only intriguing but kept me guessing.
I have already bought the next book in the Thunder Hunter series and can't wait to see what happens next.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 10 August 2018Pleasure to read on a quiet trip away kept me interested the whole time wondering what was going to happen with the odd match up.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 19 January 2023Demon Hunter (Also known as Thunder Hunter) is the first book is the Viking Soul series of urban fantasies.
A descedant of the Viking god Thor has been sent to Earth to destroy The Fallen - a long job, it has taken Trygger Odinson hundreds of years. He's almost at the end when he is saddled with another Viking descendant.
Just didn't work for me, the dialogue did little to move the narrative forward and the characters felt under-developed.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 28 October 2018Good booK to read and will look forward to the next book. Would recommend this book to anyone who asked
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 4 April 2019Great read. Liked the fact that it's set in the UK as so many English writers write about places across the pond these days. Looking forward to reading the next instalment.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 6 November 2017One of the few Urban Fantasy stories set in England, all be it in London (again, why not North England?). However it is an unusual take on Norse Mythology, the hero of one becomes the group who take on the mistake of Freya, the trouble of Loki and the accompanying mayhem. A good story that leaves you wanting an urgent fix of the next book.

4.0 out of 5 stars Gripping story
Very well narrated. Straight story line. No twist. Very good knowledge of mythology. Thoroughly entertaining. Fast paced. Nice reading time.

5.0 out of 5 stars Surprised!
Quite different than I expected!
A bit quirky, but not in a bad way.
Really interesting back story I hope to read more of.
The characters are unique, though I hope for more development in future books...and that, based on this one, seems intended to happen.
There's a bit of humor here, and a lot of darkness.
All done a bit differently than I have seen before.
I truly enjoyed it.
Looking forward to the next one...that I just purchased.

4.0 out of 5 stars Trygger, hot buff unapologetic
I enjoyed this story and the tie into Norse gods. Trygger was hot and buff and the grandson of Thor the god of thunder. He was given the task of returning 300 dark souls back to the Norse land of the dead. Trygger is irreverent, has lived for over a thousand years, and done and seen a lot with no apologies. Jack is an out there metro man who acquires information in many ways - all of which he seems to enjoy. Chloe is brought into the mix by Freya who she is a descendant of. I think Chloe is the dark horse in the story and we will see more evolve about her as the tales go forward. I recommend this read.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good Start , but ...
Just as I was finally getting into the storyline, it ended abruptly. I get that the first book in a series tends to set up the background, the heroes and the villains, but the action we had been reading toward ended too quickly.

1.0 out of 5 stars just a no for me
Oh My just No, now seriously I love blending fantasy and history and I especially love Norse history but this story was just all kinds of wrong, there were too many plot holes to count, the characters were just horrible, no depth to them at all.
