Short Tails of Cats and other Curious Creatures Kindle Edition

3.7 out of 5 stars 33 ratings

From the author of Kevin and I in India.

Fat Buddhists, insomniac cats, wide-boy whales, Polish plumbers, little piggy home-owners, and partially-sighted mice – something for everyone in this short tale anthology of the absurd.

“These stories are accessible, fun and amusing – often with real heart to them."
Harper Collins

Born and raised in the fog-shrouded streets of 1960s London, and with more than 30 years of travel writing experience under his belt, Frank Kusy is a SUNDAY TRIBUNE RECOMMENDED AUTHOR and a four-time Gold Medal Winner on the Harper Collins Authonomy site. He has been awarded the AIA Awesome Indies Seal of Excellence for his book 'Rupee Millionaires', and has been a featured author on several promotional sites, including BookBub, Pixel of Ink, Indie Book Bargains and FreeBooksy. His books have received international press acclaim, and have made the Kindle Top 100 List several times, his first published book, 'Kevin and I in India', climbing as high as #5. In 2015 his children's book 'Ginger the Gangster Cat' won a Gold medal on the Wishing Shelf Independent Book Awards for 6 to 8 year olds, though this and the sequel 'Ginger the Buddha Cat' appeal as much to adults as to children. Frank writes to make people laugh...and, in his latest book 'The Clueless Companion', to consider the vagaries of life.

WHAT READERS AND REVIEWERS ARE SAYING about Frank's books:

"Relentlessly honest, refreshingly uncontrived, KEVIN AND I IN INDIA is a diary that really works!" ~ The Sunday Tribune

"Once started, RUPEE MILLIONAIRES begs to be read in one sitting. It is full of flavour, especially the scents and scintillations of India as we've never read about them before, and satisfies on every level. ~ Grady Harp, Hall of Fame 'Vine' reviewer

"Well Frank, you've done it again - written a funny and almost too good to be true memoir. TOO YOUNG TO BE OLD: FROM CLAPHAM TO KATHMANDU is laugh out loud and introduces you to Kevin - his companion in India. Do yourself a favor and start reading this novel and I'm sure you will be eager to get your hands on the rest of his books." Joann R. Greene, Amazon reviewer

"Check out OFF THE BEATEN TRACK: MY CRAZY YEAR IN ASIA, I know you will enjoy the entertaining experiences only Kusy would remain alive to tell." ~ Valerie Caraotta, Top 1000 Amazon reviewer

"GINGER THE GANGSTER CAT is laugh out loud funny. Deserves to do for Mr Kusy what Simon's Cat has done for Mr Tofield. Cat Lit extraordinaire!" ~ Joshua Roebuck, Amazon reviewer

"'If you're a lover of cats and want a good light hearted read, GINGER THE BUDDHA CAT is just what you are looking for, but be warned it might just put you on your own path to enlightenment!' ~ David Milne, author

I believe this book of short stories was Frank Kusy's first attempt at writing whilst at Adult Education Creative writing classes. Having read all his books and thoroughly enjoying his travel non travel and Cat books I can see how he developed his characters descriptive powers and above all his sense of humour. He uses his wild imagination influenced by childhood stories and life experiences with colourful characters to make these short stories so very entertaining that one feels that they come to and end all too soon. I kept a handkerchief close at hand as I wept tears of laughter. More short stories please Frank?

I liked the stories, some of which were really short, but mostly hilarious in this Frank Kusy, “Short Tails of Cats and other Curious Creatures” collection (the title almost didn’t need the “of Cats” bit in my opinion), but I loved most of the stories - I FIX YOU GOOD - is one of my favourites, followed by CREAM and POSTCARDS FROM THE EDGE.
The good thing about the stories is, that you can read some of them more than once. There is no theme running through, which always keeps the surprise factor on high alert. So I’m sure you’ll enjoy them as much as I did!

A fast-paced and hilarious read. The stories let you in straight away without fail and slip effortlessly between memoir (the continuing adventures of Frank and Madge) and fantasy ('A Hard Day's Knight'), comedy (everywhere, honestly) and romance (you can't do any better than 'I Fix You Good'). 'Mohammad's Cat' is a sparkling detour into mythical enlightenment while 'Vic has a Sluggish Day' is as uplifting a story as the very best Christmas tale. Treat yourself, gorge on them and there is always Fatbusters in the New Year!

This is a relatively short collection of stories but it is packed full of gems. The flow and inventiveness of the writing takes you on your own personal journey of discovery. Muhammed’s Cat and The Headless Horseman were among my favourites.

'Short Tails' is an enlightening, entertaining and endearing read. I thoroughly enjoyed and would highly recommend it.

Weird book with not much reference to cats. I have enjoyed Frank's books about his travels, but not this one.

5.0 out of 5 stars A fabulous collection of short stories

An enchanting collection of short stories, part autobiographical and part whimsy. Joe to his dismay , discovers he is fat - too many sossidges! - and even has a scan to prove it.
... His new Christmas sweater may not be the fashion item Madge is hoping for....The stories of Joe and his wife Madge are interspersed with short, whimsical stories ranging from the Buddha's cat, and his search for a name to Sergio, the linguistically challenged Polish plumber; and many others. A fun read: a funny read! If you're familiar with Frank's other books, this is a great addition. If you're new to Frank's books, this is a great introduction, and will leave you wanting to read more.

This book is a collection of very short stories. They don't always have a clear ending so sometimes they left me scratching my head but they were amusing. I suspect after a couple of beers Mr. Kusy a fun person to have around at the table and this book was like sharing a table with a bunch of almost drunks sharing stories and having fun.
