A Personal Note From the AuthorI am a hardware enthusiast and love to play with devices. In fact, figuring out all kinds of mechanical and electronic devices and understanding how they work has been a lifelong passion for me. Recently I came across this new revolutionary set of voice controlled Alexa Devices and love the freedom it gives me. I have done a lot of research on Amazon Echo, Amazon Echo Dot and Amazon Tap and this prompted me to put down my learning in the form of a series of books.
This Advanced User Guide for the Amazon Echo Dot is the 2nd in the series of books I have written on Alexa Devices. I hope that this guide helps you in setting up and using your Echo Dot.

- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 19 December 2017Hmmmm, I didn't learn anything here that I hadn't already figured out in my first hour of playing with my device. I certainly wouldn't describe anything written here as 'advanced'; more 'echo show for dummies'. Not particularly well written either, I can't say that I can recommend this in any way except that it's cheap.

5.0 out of 5 stars LEARN HOW TO USE THE ECHO DOT AS A POWER USER
Out of the box, Using Amazon's ground breaking voice activated speakers is easy. However, integrating Alexa with other smart home devices and other appliances is not something most standard echo users know how to do.
What I liked the most about this guide is that it looks beyond using the echo dot as a standard user. By reading this guide, you will learn how to connect your echo dot to (1) your home sound system since unlike the Amazon echo, the echo dot does not have a powerful speaker (2) voice train Alexa to respond to your accent (this part of the guide is super helpful) (3) how to connect the echo dot to your smart home appliance (4) how to use the echo dot an IFTTT to automate various aspects of your life, and many more.
Who is the ideal reader for this guide? Anyone who wants to go beyond having the echo dot (Alexa) as a mere assistant and instead use the echo dot to create a truly connected home you can command through your voice and the echo dot.
