About the author

My name is Christopher Greyson, and I am a storyteller.
Since I was a little boy, I have dreamt of what mystery was around the next corner, or what quest lay over the hill. If I couldn’t find an adventure, one usually found me, and now I weave those tales into my stories. I am blessed to have written over twenty novels.
My love for tales of mystery and adventure began with my grandfather, a decorated World War I hero. I will never forget being introduced to his friend, a WWI pilot who flew across the skies at the same time as the feared, legendary Red Baron. My love of reading and storytelling eventually led me to write and it’s the best job I’ve ever had.
I love to hear from my readers. Please visit ChristopherGreyson.com, where you can become a preferred reader, download an exclusive Jack Stratton mystery, and receive advanced notifications of book releases and more! Please follow Detective Jack Stratton on Twitter @chris_greyson and Facebook https://www.facebook.com/ChristopherGreysonAuthor. Thank you for reading my novels. I hope my stories have brightened your day.
Sincerely,
Christopher Greyson

- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 1 October 2016Format: Kindle EditionVerified PurchaseI've been a fan of the Jack Stratton series since I read the first in the series, Girl Jacked. So, was this as good as the other Stratton books? Yes and no. The things I loved:
• I loved finding out more about Chandler and Michelle, their relationship with Jack was well written and believable.
• The mystery. I never guessed the outcome
• The pace and prose
The things I didn't enjoy as much:
•I missed the Jack+Alice chemistry
• I found Jack a little to perfect for a 17 year old. How many teenagers use the word crud rather than s***?
I'm still looking forward to reading the next one and would recommend this to fans of the series.

Jack Stratton is a young lad who wants to become a detective. He had a rough start in life. His birth mother was a prostitute and couldn't look after him. When he was 7 he was taken in.by a foster mother whom is loved by everyone especially Jack.
Just before Jack's 18th birthday a young woman was murdered and one of Jack's childhood friends is accused of killing her. Jack helps him out by looking into who actually killed her. By doing so he can jepodise his future of becoming a police officer.
I highly recommended you read this book.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 21 May 2018Format: Kindle EditionVerified PurchaseI found this book, 'And Then She Was GONE' grows on you if you stick with it. At first I found it rather tedious and thought this is not for me. However, I persevered and found that by the second half the story was much more interesting as I warmed to the plot and the myriad of characters. I certainly did not figure out who was the culprit, even though I had changed my mind a couple of times as to who the real villain was in the course of reading the story.
Some reviewers have been critical of this book, stating it is for teenagers. I must admit I had similar thoughts at first because the book focuses on 17 year old Jack Stratton and his 'foster brother' Chandler Carter. They have just finished high school and are waiting to join the U.S. army. Their plan being to serve two years in the army and then pay for college with a GI bill. Jack then hopes to join the Police Academy. They use a lot of street language. Some of their acquaintances have two names; a 'street name' (e.g. J Dog) and a real name (e.g. Jay Martin). But as I read on I felt this novel is not one aimed at teenagers (even though I am sure they would enjoy it). It is more like the author (Christopher Greyson) is setting us up for a series of books based on Jack Stratton once he becomes a detective and this story sets out to show how he was already beginning to act like one in his teenage years ... except he does not have the training or necessary skills and so constantly makes mistakes in his 'investigation'.
I liked the characterisation in this novel. I feel the author portrays a number of traits that many young people exhibit these days - they are very self-confident, sometimes a little brash, prone to acting or re-acting to situations without necessarily fully thinking through the potential consequences or how their actions may appear to others. They can also be emotionally sensitive as well as being totally gullible as they learn from their experiences. All these are seen in this story. I also feel Greyson has captured how young adults see and react to 'older' people (and here I do not mean the elderly!).
The story concerns the disappearance of a young pregnant office worker, Stacy Shaw. The police arrest one of Jack's acquaintances (J Dog) based on some video evidence of his trying to use Stacy's ATM card, but Jack is not convinced they have apprehended the right person. So he sets off to find evidence to free J Dog and, if possible, to identify the villain and solve Stacy's disappearance.
Christopher Greyson has created a large and very varied set of characters in this story. I liked the way he has woven them together. I must admit that Jack comes across as rather a 'goody two-shoes' while most of his friends and acquaintances are not nearly so virtuous. But apart from that, I found his character grew on me (as did many of the others).
So, my advice would be that if you like crime stories that have lots of very varied characters and red herrings then this one should appeal. I feel having a 17 year old as the main 'investigator' is refreshingly different, as is some of the language used. Yes, the story is a little slow at first but if you stick with it I think you may well find it grows on you as it did me. It has piqued my interest enough to want to read some of the other novels featuring Jack Stratton.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 21 November 2016Format: Kindle EditionVerified PurchaseThis was my first book by this author, but it won't be my last. Admittedly I bought it because of its low price. Once I started it I was hooked. I loved the different characters, particularly Jack. If you want a book written like war and peace, don't bother, but if you like one easy to read then you'll love it. Can't wait to read another by Christopher Greyson
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 18 March 2018Format: Kindle EditionVerified PurchaseThis is the first book I have purchased on my kindle that I have thought was absolute rubbish. This was torture to read. The only reason I finished it was because I thought it might get better. It didn't. Gave it 2 stars as I was trying to be kind. Never given a bad review before as I know some writers struggle to get books published. I don't want to be cruel but can't believe there are other books in the series. Should be labelled teenage read. Shan't be reading any other books by this author.

5.0 out of 5 stars Thumbs up yet again
Format: Kindle EditionVerified PurchaseAnother great read by Greyson. Spoiler alert.
This one starts with an old lady who a lanky junkie is trying to rob. The old lady's husbands much needed medication is in that purse and she's not letting go. There are onlookers but in the Hamilton Heights neighborhood its best to keep your head down and eyes closed. The most any of them will do is pull out a phone and record the robbery.
The junkie breaks the strap on the purse and the old woman lands on the ground. The robber then takes off only to run straight into 6'6" and all two hundred and nighty pounds of Chandler. The robber bounced off but Chandler never moved an inch. The old woman begged someone to get her purse back. Of course Jack Stratton who was with Chandler takes off after the purse snatcher.
Stratton catches up with the idiot only to have said idiot pull a knife on him. He gets cuts but manages to put the robber on the ground. The police show up and Jack ends up in trouble and the robber makes his escape. Once the cop hears the old lady and Chandlers story Jack is released. Of course the robber is long gone.
Stacy Shaw has had her new job at H. T. Wells for three months. She's an analyst for the company and has found a few odd things. Her boss Leland Chambers is a real sleaze and tells her to never mind. Someone else will take care of it. Stacy's husband is on a business trip and Stacy has talked with him. She's found out she's pregnant and is on top of the world right now. She's one of the last people in the office and on her way out she speaks with Jeremy the janitor. Jeremy is a little slow but Stacy likes him and always takes the time to speak with him.
Once outside she runs into Betty Robinson who's her supervisor. They discuss the oh so sleazy chambers and Betty and her husband Bruce who came to pick her up leave. Stacy heads out to her car only to find it won't start. She doesn't live to far away so decides to walk. Its a walk she will never complete.
So begins another damned fine read and a good backstory for Jack Stratton.
This one has Jack, Chandler, a Jack and Chandler who are enlisting once they graduate from high school, a jack Stratton who will put in six years and then head for the police academy, Betty, Makayla, Replacement, Aunt Haddie who ran the foster house Jack lived in until he was adopted by a good family, Detective Clark, Kelly a girl Jack goes out with, a Kelly who comes from a wealthy family, a wealthy family that frowns of those from Hamilton Heights, Ted Stratton his Father, Laura his mother, Detective Vargas, Michael Shaw, a Jack and Chandler who find the missing Stacy, a very dead Stacy, a Jack who puts his Army enlistment in jeopardy as he tries to solve the murder of Stacy Shaw, a Jack who can't get anyone to listen to him, a Ted Stratton who tries to reign Jack in and Jack Stratton taking the steps that will lead to he becoming the man he was meant to be, solve the crime, catch the murderer and stay alive.
Five Stars.

5.0 out of 5 stars AND THEN SHE WAS GONE
Format: Kindle EditionVerified PurchaseBrilliant suspenceThriller. Stacy Shaw was working late. Everybody had gone. Save for her creepy boss and a janitor. Her boss argued with her when she pointed out discrepancies in a client file she was working on. Stacy left the building to go home. Her car wouldn't start. She decided to walk home thru the park. She never got home. Young Jack Stratton notices stuff that doesn't sit right. He tries to investigate and opens a can of worms. Who is the killer of Stacy Shaw? Brilliant book from Christopher Grayson. Highly Recommended. In fact..... months later I just read it again. And ENJOYED IT AGAIN.

4.0 out of 5 stars Gripping Murder Investigation
