A Harmless Little Game (Harmless #1) Kindle Edition
Too bad I wasn’t awake for it.
The video went viral. Of course it would. A Senator’s daughter on camera? Wouldn’t you click “share”? Besides, that’s what three of the four guys in the video did.
Share.
They shared me.
But that fourth guy? The nondescript one in the background in the upper left corner of the screen, just sitting on the couch? The only one who did nothing?
Not one single thing.
That was my boyfriend, Drew.
And that was the last time I saw him.
Until today, when my father—now on a path to the White House—hired him as head of security for my new team as I return home after four years of “recovering” in an undisclosed location that involved white lab coats, needles, pills and damage control.
You see, the other three guys never went to jail. Never had charges pressed.
Never faced consequences.
Until today.
Game on.

- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 6 November 2016An amazing book that brings forth a myriad of emotions on practically every page. So many wrongs, so much abuse that your heart goes out to Lindsay from page 1 and you are totally gripped by the unfolding story. The plot twists and turns as you, like Lindsay, try to understand the truth, and you begin to realise the more you understand the less you know. Oh and there is humour, sometimes a welcome light relief and at other times so dark you'll be simultaneously laughing and flinching. An amazing story, I can't wait to start book two.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 23 June 2017I really wasn't expecting to like this book. It popped up on my facebook as a freebie and I thought, why not. I expected an easy read and a book that had a half decent storyline but didn't quite live up to the emotional level I always wanted from books like this but never got.
BUT I can happily say that I was pleasantly surprised. I actually really liked it and liked it enough to immediately buy the next one, and then the next one and finish the whole series in just 3 days.
Sure, it's not perfect. Some of it seemed quite unrealistic, Lindsay's reactions are sometimes a little strange, and her immediate attraction to Drew was a bit strange since she actually hates him for letting his friends rape her but as a whole I could overlook these things and just follow the story.
After reading some comments on Goodreads about this series the main concern people seem to have (before reading it) is the situation between Drew and Lindsay and a potential romance between them even after he just sat by and watched her attack. Without giving any spoilers I will say this, there is a whole load more to Drew's story then it initially told. You will get answers and they are acceptable answers. Take a chance on this book, you wont regret it.
The book had a nice fast flow to it but slowed down enough during the emotional moments to let us really appreciate them. Also, I feel like Raine handled a very sensitive topic like a pro and I liked that the events of Lindsay's attack were explained to us but it was never graphic. Sure it wasn't a nice thing to read about, but it was never uncomfortable to read.
Overall a great first book in the series.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 15 April 2019This book is one of the best books I’ve ever read, like ever. It made me laugh it made me cry it made me FEEL. The story is gripping and twisty and complex and oh so deep. The characters are 3 dimensional the tension is there and feels very very real. It was everything I need in a book and I’ve one clicked book 2 and 3
Seriously you NEED to read this book
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 17 May 2019The writing is fine and I really liked the twists and turns in the plot and the dynamic between Lindsay and her parents. Lovely people! NOT! However... my problem is with Lindsay herself and her initial response to Drew, her ex, who, as far as she knows, is complicit in a horrific and brutal gang rape. I find it really difficult to believe that she could be anything other than traumatised even being in the same room with him, after what happened to her. But if you can get past that, it's a good story.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 11 January 2018This book has my attention like no other. I don't even want to spend a few minutes that will take me to write this review. All I am dying to do is download the next installment of this story.
This book is absolutely amazing. It shocks me to the core with what Lindsay went through. Some truths come to light that are just appalling.
Four years ago, Lindsay was gang raped by 3 men. What is shocking is that she was sent to an institution.
The duration of this book is essentially a few days from when she returns home. So much happens in those days and truths are revealed.
I like how Drew protects her once she returns home. He seems to be the only one who seems to have her best interest at heart.
Can't wait to read the next book as its from Drew's perspective.
Highly recommended.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 28 February 2017So many twists. Still loads of unanswered questions. Makes you really feel for Lindsay. It contains a very dark story line, with some details hard to read. But I personally think it's done in a sensitive way. Looking forward to Drew's version.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 3 March 2017I got really involved in this book, and could not put it down. As soon as I had finished reading, I went on Amazon to buy the next two in the series, because I needed to know if vengeance was possible, when nobody else believes you about a dreadful attack., I was horrified by the parents, who knew the truth but covered it up because of political ambition.
Bravo to the author, a book well written, a story that leaves the reader wanting more.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 26 July 2017Lindsey is brutally raped and assaulted whilst Drew, her boyfriend looks on and does nothing. She spends 4 years recuperating in a mental hospital seething about his inaction. On the day of her release she meets Drew but asks nothing about the rape!
Whaaatttt!! Come on....
Read 53% and nothing has happened yet so gave up.

5.0 out of 5 stars Intense read
This book was so well written. It really keeps you glued to it. The characters are very well developed. It does have issues such as rape and abuse in there. So if you dint like reading about that its best not to look at this book. But otherwise its a really good read. I read all three books in one day because i needed to know how it ended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Intrigue Galore!!
The book begins describing a horrific event which immediately captures your attention. It's very raw, disturbing, emotional and painful to read. The author describes brilliantly how Lindsay understands and "plays" the psychiatric institution in order to "escape". One can't help but feel mortified and ashamed at how Lindsay was treated by her family and supposed friends who should have been there to support her. Instead, she was just an agenda item. In addition, Lindsay is both mortified to still desire Drew and hate him at the same time. There is so much intrigue going on, you have no idea who to trust. Superb book!

5.0 out of 5 stars A very awesome book cover
Island Meditation & Serenity Center. Dr. Stacia (PhD; psychologist) was checking on Ms. Lindsay Bosworth (23, daughter, BA).
Weekly counseling sessions with her are a hit/miss at times.
It was time for her to go home.
The gang rape of Lindsay was video-taped, posted & went viral.
Something she would never get over.
Senator Harwell Bosworth (husband/father, CA., Foreign Relations committee head) would not be there to greet her.
Drew Foster (BF, security, bodyguard, retired military, Afghanistan) was there to escort her.
Monica Bosworth (wife/mother) & Connie (kitchen mgr.) welcome her home.
The Grove. Lindsay is starting flashbacks & reoccurring dreams from her past.
Silas Gentian (25, chauffeur/security, bodyguard, Afghanistan) takes Lindsay where she needs to go.
Marshall Josephs has been hired to instruct Lindsay on how to manage her past negative reputation into a more positive manner. Marcy Boorstein & Victoria Ahlmann also will help out.
Senator Bosworth (husband/father) had decided to run for President.
Andrew “Drew” Foster (security, bodyguard) was hired also.
Tara (Berkley; MBA), Mandy, & Jenna came to visit Lindsay over Drew watchful eye.
The welcoming committee did not turn out well for 1 person.
Lindsay’s car brake lines had been cut & she ended up in the hospital.
Later what were John Gainsborough (major league baseball player), Stellen Asgarth (TV celebrity), & Blaine Maisri (running for Senator) up too?
Warning: This book contains extremely graphic adult content, violence, or expletive language &/or uncensored sexually explicit material which is only suitable for mature readers. It may be offensive or have potential adverse psychological effects on the reader.
I did not receive any type of compensation for reading & reviewing this book. While I receive free books from publishers & authors, I am under no obligation to write a positive review. Only an honest one.
A very awesome book cover, great font & writing style. Wow, a very well written psychological thriller book. It was very easy for me to read/follow from start/finish & never a dull moment. There were no grammar/typo errors, nor any repetitive or out of line sequence sentences. Lots of exciting scenarios, with several twists/turns & a great set of unique characters to keep track of. This could also make another great psychological thriller movie, or better yet a mini TV series. To be continued. There is no doubt in my mind this is a very easy rating of 5 stars.
