- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 13 September 2016These days it is very easy to forget about Direct Mail when we have so many options online. However, that is also one of the beauties about DM, it is physical, I can hold it and read it anywhere. It's just different from all the emails and social media messages I'm bombarded with and so it has the potential to stand out. What David James Hood does is demonstrate how to make your Direct Mail stand out fro the background marketing noise. He spells out what we need to consider and execute if we want a successful outcome.
Note only does David take you step by step through the process of creating Direct Mail your customers and prospect will actually want he also explains how taking a better approach to your Direct Nail campaign you can lower your marketing costs. But what I really like about the book is that David does not waffle and pad out the book. He includes what you need to know, provides additional material through links to online resources and takes up as little of your value time as necessary. Just what you want if you are busy running your business.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 6 May 2017Like most I am always looking to get a heads up on branding and marketing my business more successfully. This book is easy to read with limited jargon. There are great pointers to assist you and with proven statistics to go back to tradtitional marketing methods, such as postal mail. Looking into implementing some new strategies and ways to lmprove value and authenticity for my clients. Thank you.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 7 September 2016This is not a big book which is its bonus. It was quick to read through and a real positive was the resources on offer. As a novice I found that the best bits are at the end. My preference for "can do" books is to help me build from a base and educate me as I go to why each element is important.
I read this through Kindle and on an iPad so the look maybe different in different context. What was a personal challenge original choice of font as well as the numerous changes of typeface on each page. It was hard to work out why they were changing and dragged attention around the page rather than through it.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 24 April 2017Who doesn't love a freebie? I know I love a freebie.
So, when I can download a 'book' (it's less than 100 pages long) for free, via Amazon Kindle, then I'm going take up the offer.
But, as the saying goes, there's no such thing as a free lunch. Unfortunately I have 'spent' something. My time. And I've wasted it too because I was suckered into looking at this.
Whilst this book is well meaning and full of enthusiasm, it isn't great. In fact, it's pretty bad. It's poorly written, the content average at best and the formatting all over the place.
However, I feel most cheated because the author sent me an unsolicited email (spam) promoting his book. And, although we'd connected on LinkedIn, I don't remember asking for any emails from him. But that's apparently OK because, in the footer of his email to me he states:
"You are a principal, direct and valued contact, on my personal list, and using mailchimp to keep you posted!"
Now, it's nice to be described as 'valued' don't you think? Makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.
Although, that description of me doesn't stack up when you consider that the email was addressed to <<First Name>>. The final irony is that Chapter 7 of the book is titled 'Making it Powerful by Making It Authentic'.
Avoid.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 6 September 2016David, not finished reading the book yet but so far an interesting read with a few marketing pointers I have taken on board and hope to implement in due course. Thanks.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 13 September 2016This is a must read if you want to get more sales and develop your business. I was very focused on email marketing but when i started to read this book i went back to sending out some old fashion direct marketing via the post. And it started to produce leads and sales. So buy this book and it will add value to your business from the very first page
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 8 November 2016From the opening quote in Chapter One, the messages are both powerful and clear. What's more this book is one in a whole new Competitiveness Series & I'm really looking forward to what comes next. I loved the style and heft of the writing and it's clear the Author, David James Hood, really knows his stuff. I highly recommend this excellent book!
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 5 September 2016In an area that is often overwhelmed by noise and snakeoil methodologies, this book provides some down to earth clarity and practical advice. Thanks.
