Beautiful Oblivion (Escape to Lake Loveless Book 1) Kindle Edition

4.0 out of 5 stars 2,852 ratings

All I wanted was something for the summer—and it was Ace who made my mouth water. The rules: no strings, no expectations, just something hotter than the sun to set the world on fire.

Escape to Lake Loveless—where the skies are blue, the gossip runs deep, and the lake shimmers with secrets.

Reese Westfield wasn’t looking for forever—just a little summer heat. And Ace Waterman? He was the kind of temptation that made her forget every rule she was raised on.

The deal was simple: no feelings, no future, just something hotter than the August sun.

Reese is country clubs, pearls, and doing what Daddy says. Ace is calloused hands, student loans, and everything she’s not supposed to want. But this summer, she’s done playing perfect. She wants Ace—messy, shirtless, irresistible Ace.

Ace has been in love with Reese since forever, but he’s no fool. He knows how this ends. Summer ends. She leaves. And he’s just the secret she never meant to keep.

But when hearts get tangled and truths unravel, Reese will have to choose between the life she was groomed for and the love that sets her on fire.

Some love stories were never meant to follow the rules.

Great story and was hooked from the beginning, a classic love story of girl fancies best friends brother but is to afraid to say anything whilst being unaware that the boy in question has always felt the same.
Reece has always been in love with Ace and one summer break she decides she cannot wait any longer and proposes him with a no strings, no feelings attached summer fling in which they can both walk away when they return to college in the fall, this way Ace is making her dreams come true by finally sleeping with the man of her dreams.
However as they say feelings always get in the way, Reece and Ace are totally in love with each other but are too afraid to tell each other this added to the mix of ex boyfriend, family and friend all makes a great read.
Do they get their happy ending? You will have to read to find out?

This was a sweet, sensual story of two childhood friends, who’ve been in love with one another for years, and finally ready to take a chance at something more.

“Ace Waterman is the one for me, and there is no other – never was, never will be.”

Reese has just finished her freshman year at college. She’s back in Loveless for the summer and determined to move her friendship with her longtime crush, Ace, into more intimate territory. She proposes a summer fling with Ace but hopes they’ll end the summer with something more permanent.

“I’d trade in a quick and dirty summer for a lifetime of loving Reese every single time.

Ace has loved Reese since forever. He doesn’t want to lose her friendship but he’s powerless to resist her. He’s known her all their lives but he’s completely out of her league socially and financially.

“We’re on the cusp of something beautiful, something bigger than a summer fling, something that takes being someone special to a whole new level.”

This was a great story about taking a chance, casting off expectations, and following your heart. It was sweet, sexy without being particularly explicit, and an easy read. Ace Waterman is just a wonderful, gorgeous guy. He’s good through and through, and Reese needed to buck up her ideas and stop dithering about other aspects of her life!

    The Plot
Beautiful Oblivion tells the story of Reese and Ace. He's from the wrong side of the tracks and she is desperate to please her father, but they have been secretly in love with each other for years. This summer they will make it happen, but can it be more than a secret fling?

    My Opinion
I admit I am slightly older than the target audience but I usually enjoy this sort of thing as much as the next girl. It started well, I liked the plot and the characters were good. However as the story progressed it became increasingly repetitive and I almost ended up screaming at the characters to just talk to each other rather than rip each others' clothes off. The main character also began to grate on me and I just wanted her to show a little more backbone when it came to her father and Warren.

Overall a good read, but it hasn't inspired me to read the other two books in the series (Beautiful Oblivion can be read as a stand alone book).

Ace & Reese...If you think the cover is hot wait until you read the book! Its sexy and sensual & you just want to bang their bloody heads together, because my only (very small) gripe would be "I wish they would tell each other how they feel!"
He loves her, but doesn't feel worthy, she loves him, but doesn't think he feels the same! Add to that an truly horrible, arrogant 'boyfriend' who is just asking for a punch in the face. Ergo, they spend 98% of the book madly in love and not telling each other. Best friend Brylee is a great character, not the usual bitchy best friend you sometimes get in some "step brother/taboo romance" books. This is a BRILLIANT read - enjoy!

A very enjoyable and light hearted book. I love a good romantic book and this was just that. This story was about Reese and Ace, they grew up together and always harbored feelings for each other but never told each other how they felt. Reese comes up with a idea to make Ace agree to a summer fling and they were to depart as friends after the summer ended. Really enjoyed this book as there was a lot of funny and embarrassing moments that just gave the book character. It was easy sometimes to get annoyed with Reese as she a lot of decisions to make and always often made the wrongs but that's what made the book so funny to read. I have read many of Addison Moore's book and this was it probably one my favorites. There is a Book 2 due out in 2014 but focuses on Ace's Best friend Gavin so i'm really excited to read his story as i'm sure it will be a cracker.

I managed to read the entire book but the characters just weren't likeable. The main character Reese was just childish, immature and annoying. Terrible mistakes were made because she was just too stupid. I just wanted to slap her and tell her to grow up!

I have read like hundreds and hundreds of books yet this one made me pause almost every time I had to lay it down. The writer grabbed hold of me with a new version of an aged story line. The book is full of beautiful people and locations but the real beauty was in the a story and the relationships.

Reese Westfield come from money, she has the life everyone wants. Clothes, shoes, cars anything her little heart could desire, except she is stuck in a relationship with Warren McCarthy. She feels obligated to be with him, since her father and her father are partners in business, but her heart has long belonged to Ace Waterman the boy people associated with money would consider unworthy or low class, but not to Reese... he is everything she could ever want and more.

Finally the summer after her freshman year Reese decides to take her life into her own hands and decides to have a summer fling with Ace, no strings, no obligations, no guarantees at a future with him, but that is not how things are supposed to be. Both Reese and Ace are determined to make the most out of their time together, both secretly hoping that the other feels the same way and wants to make this a forever deal and not just summer.

Things with Reese and Ace's summer don't always go as planned. Between Warren continuously trying to stake his claim over Reese, Reese's father and stepmother basically forcing her to be with Warren and both Ace and Reese being afraid to admit their feeling that are beyond obvious to everyone but each other.

When does obligation and social standing win over the heart? Can Reese and Ace finally open their hearts to each other before they are faced to live without each other? You must read Beautiful Oblivion to find out the answers to those questions!
If you know me you know that I love Addison Moore and her books. She was one of the first books I read on my Kindle application on my phone and since then I was hooked. On to Beautiful Oblivion. I beyond loved this book. The chemistry between Ace and Reese. No matter what is thrown at them they both continue to fight for the other. With the guidance of Reese's mother ( you will have to read to find out) two hearts that long to be together actually have a chance. I was in tears during the "letter" scenes, and bawled like a baby when Beautiful Oblivion ended. No Cliffhanger and a Happily Ever After what more could you want.
