Mermaid Hair and I Don’t Care: A romantic comedy about shoes, surf and second chances Kindle Edition

4.4 out of 5 stars 1,316 ratings

Lily could soon have it all – providing she doesn’t murder the office pervert…

Lily’s life is going to plan, the love of her life is about to make a commitment and her dream job is within her grasp. What could possibly go wrong?

An unplanned holiday, an uninvited guest, a very tight wetsuit and hair (not just her own) are about to turn Lily’s predictable world upside down. Not to mention the beach hut. Don’t mention the beach hut. What happened in the beach hut was supposed to stay in the beach hut.

Sometimes life has a way of giving you what you need, not what you plan, especially when mixed emotions and office politics get in the way.

If you’re a fan of Fiona Collins, Jo Platt, Lindsey Kelk or Sophie Kinsella, don’t miss this funny, satisfying romantic comedy.

I'm pretty sure I've said it before but this is another hit by CJ Morrow.
This story is set mainly in Devon. It's the story of Lily trying to get control of her life and decide what she wants. She meets a charming man and starts a 'no past, no future' holiday fling. The charming man then appears in her real life. There is a little twinkling of magic too
The story is so well written and the characters instantly likeable, although I'm not sure about Damion, that you feel very quickly that you know them and are invested in Lily's life. There are definitely some proper laugh out loud moments, especially with Gemma.
I'd definitely recommend everyone to read CJ's books.

I read the entire book in two days! Literally couldn't put it down! I love love love how the author writes. The characters are relatable, as are the situations that occur. I could picture all the places as they were so well described, I hoped the best for the main character and I think that shows just how well written the book is.
A good amount of bitchiness.... always appreciated! And I have now developed a strong desire to surf!!
I also loved the slight mysteriousness around how she was directed to the beach :)

After having read chapter excerpts in the authors's blog, I was so excited to read the full version I downloaded the ebook the day it was published; eager to read how the short snippets would knit together. I was not disappointed and finished reading it in the early hours of the next day.

A perfectly balanced mix of romance and comedy. Great storytelling as ever, and I think even better than the last book, Blame it on the onesie, which I also thoroughly enjoyed. Well done, highly recommended for summertime reading!

Loved this as I really fancied the romantic hero. Also the office politics angst about the protagonist being the only person in the company who didn't know what was going on was very believable. This is the ideal book for a light and cheery read as you will definitely feel happy afterwards.

This book was quite engaging and a page turner. The characters were well developed and the story fairly original considering that obviously boy meets girl and they live happily ever after. Which is the point of rom-com after all! A funny tale of love and fate.

I absolutely LOVED this book. It combines all the factors that (in my opinion) make a great book: romance, humor, surprising twists, and a strong female character.
I enjoyed the story so much and fell in love with Lily and Jackson.

I loved the author's last novel 'Blame it on the Onesie', mainly because of the really humorous writing. 'Mermaid Hair' captured me right from the start and I enjoyed every minute of it and was even funnier than its predecessor. Lately, I have been very disappointed when so-called 'romantic comedy' novels have turned into full-blown erotica, but CJ Morrow restored my faith in this genre by not resorting to this. Although it was obvious that the main character had sex/made love, we were thankfully spared the details. My only criticism is that the epilogue contained a whole lot of story in a very few paragraphs. Great work for a self-publisher who, if partnered with a good editor, could definitely be a top rom-com author.
