So nice to read such classic stuff, and see how the author hoped things would evolve. Would Silverberg be disappointed by how little progress we’ve made?

read most of these a long time ago, but it was fun to re-read them, and experience the wonder, the fun, the innocence once again...there was a time when alien contact was not seen as scary, frightening or abhorrent...nice to re-visit those days...sure, these stories are juvenile, but they are sweet and charming, too...good read at a good price!

Anthology of short stories a class above the rest. Written in the 50s to 70s so the science can be outraged, but the concepts and storytelling reign supreme .

The stories are mostly space opera; all are well crafted and contain interesting ideas; many are quite humorous; none are pretentiously "literary". One thing I enjoy about reading old science fiction like this is that you get a dose of adventitious social history along with the science fiction.

I gave a 4 star rating for a stellar novel!
After being away from the genre for some time, I decided it was time for a comeback, with Bob Silverberg no less, so, bring it on!!

Not sure if this collection is representative of the quality of the rest of Silverberg's writing, but it's pretty poor.

In comparison to similar collections by Dick, Harrison et al these stories don't hold up well. The writing is fine, but the stories are not engaging and it's impossible to care about most of the protagonists. On the strength of this, I would not read more of this author.

Straight forward fantasy sci-fi. A ray gun is a ray gun, simple as that. Meet an alien life form? Not a big deal just handle it.
Good story telling, well written and again "straight forward" no hidden agenda or social commentary. Classic sci-fi from my youth.

Great stories written by a very inventive author. Easy to read and very entertaining. With over 900 pages of stories and at around $2, it represent incredible value for money.

While a few stories are a little dated, from over 50 years ago and pulp science fiction, Silverberg's greatness is marrying futuristic concepts with everyday human problems that need to be solved. And some of his surprise endings are very special. Really enjoyable read.

Fantascienza anni '50-60 in maggior parte. L' autore è un abile scrittore, i racconti si leggono volentieri. Si può leggere.
