- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 26 April 2016[Updated May 2016] I have been in touch with the author, Chloe Archard, who very kindly provided a PDF version of the book. Now, having read the first few chapters (and being fairly familiar with Paleo concepts), I can say that the author has an excellent grasp of Paleo and appears to know her stuff!
In the first 40+ pages, she gives a good summary background about what the Paleo style of nutrition is all about and why it may be better for many people who are suffering from various food-related issues. Ms Archard is what I would call a middle-of-the-road Paleo proponent, allowing for differences in personal preferences and requirements, as well as putting forth the reasons why she believes Vegan diets are not optimal. She goes on to give what a basic Paleo meal comprises, with suggestions for breakfasts, lunches, dinners, snacks and drinks. There is a few helpful graphics, along with a table of "swaps" to help you change over from what you may be used to eating. For example, rather than cornflour, you may want to use arrowroot powder to thicken sauces. There are checklists of ingredients and a page full of resources.
Although I have not yet had a chance to try the recipes (pp 42 - 179), but they do look really quite good and I cannot wait to make some of these! This section of the book is laid out in the format of recipe cards, one (or two related) recipes per A4 page, with colour photos, along with an indicator of difficulty, prep time, number of servings, descriptive list of ingredients, method, and serving suggestions. Some of the recipes are quite simple and others are a bit more complex. The value in the recipes is perhaps not so much in the method as in the suggestions for how to combine ingredients to produce a healthy Paleo meal. This is important because it is quite normal for Paleo newbies to use the "subtractive method" by simply taking out those foods they no longer wish to eat and end up with boring one-food meals, causing them to give up after a relatively short time. Rather, the recipes show you how to combine Paleo foods to create tasty and visually stimulating meals within the Paleo framework, giving you variety as well as healthful eating. This recipe book delivers quite well on this score.
HOPEFULLY HELPFUL HINT: As the recipes are one-pagers, the recipes can be easily printed out individually, if desired. The pages in this PDF run true to print, so just make a note of the page number in the PDF and use that to print just the one page using your PDF viewer's PRINT button. Usually, if I have tried the recipe and like it, I print out that page and put it into my "keeper" notebook. If you do, you may wish to use headers/footers to get the attribution of where the recipe originated, so you can go back to that source for more recipes!
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 23 September 2016British authors, lots of interesting comparisons of modern hunter gatherer communities, scientific evidence of which some is referenced, common sense and intelligent advice. Most of the ingredients I had all ready in the cupboard, easy and reassuring versions of familiar recipes that won't be seen by family or Slimming World converts as too weird or wacky. Clear explanations for why you would want to include less fashionable old time staples your grandmother would have known. All in all a convincing useful and practical handbook to a better healthier and tasty lifestyle. Definitely worth having, keeping and using on a daily basis.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 2 May 2016Great Paleo cookbook combining a summary of the science behind the diet with really accessible, everyday recipes, from breakfast ideas and snacks to dinners and desserts. We have found the Paleo Britain website a great source for real food recipes and info on healthy eating and producers so were so pleased to see that Chloe had released a book. She is so knowledgeable about health and nutrition. We loved the beef stew with bone marrow and celeriac mash and my children wolfed the brownies. Will be trying the granola bars this week and looking forward to making lots more of the recipes.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 26 April 2016Such an excellent book, I am fairly new to paleo but have found adapting relatively easy, I have been following Paleo Britains 30 day detox and since the beginning of the detox I have felt full of energy, I never feel bloated and I am sleeping so well. I have to also add that the recipes are so quick and fuss free to follow and they are also delicious.
Fully recommend.

- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 19 May 2016I'm pretty new to paleo and this book has already helped me so much. I found it really informative, easy to follow and understand - plus the recipes are brilliant. I'd say this is a must-have for anyone interested in knowing more about paleo, looking to work the paleo approach into their lifestyle (the eating-plan, and suggested paleo-swaps section is excellent), or simply wanting some heathy, delicious meal ideas.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 2 August 2017White potatoes, rice, lentils and beans are NOT paleo regardless of whether you tolerate them or not! . . .
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 26 April 2016An extremely thorough and well researched book into the reasons behind choosing a Paleo diet and lifestyle, as well as creative and easy to follow recipes.
An invaluable resource to all those who want to know more about the benefits of eating Paleo.

5.0 out of 5 stars More than just a cookbook!
Don't let the word "Paleo" scare you! This is a book filled with amazing "real, whole food" recipes. The first section explains what a "paleo" diet is with some very down-to-Earth observations on the eating habits of our ancestors and modern day people who eat very similar to how humans are supposed to eat. Best viewed in color! Great value!

this is a diet that really works, and doesn't cost more than the potatoes you eat.

This book may or may not contain good recipes. It's not possible to read them on my Kindle. The digital file is made up of images not text and the images are poor quality. The size of the image is constrained by the size of the screen - images cannot be expanded to be larger than the screen and consequently the writing is very tiny. I have found that by using the Kindle Cloud Reader on a large screen the text is just large enough to read, but this is not really a practical option for a recipe book.
I understand why this book is free. If I had paid money to receive such a poor quality digital book I would be asking for my money back. I hope that a better quality digital version will be made available shortly, AND provided to all the people who downloaded this one.
