I have been hooked on this series from book one and love to re read each book as the new ones are published. Eathan Cooke security is one big and growing family and although the stories can be read independently all the lives are interlinked and we catch up with each new book. Having said that, it was not so much in evidence with this story and I did miss it a bit.

Collin and Lyla's story has many twists and turns taking us from the hard life of a prima ballerina in Manhattan to the often complicated politics and life in Russia and then to the hardships of an Alaskan winter and the terror of being hunted. Cate Beauman paints vivid pictures in words and I felt I was right there with Collin and Lyla in their travels and their journey into deeper self awareness and of each other.

You always get your money's worth with this series and I cannot wait for the next instalment.

I picked this up as a freebie so miles out of sequence. The story line wasn't rocket science but it was suspenseful, heartfelt and very enjoyable. I have one signed up to the author's mailing list and wil be starting from the beginning.

I thought this was the best of the series so far, it had everything you want in a really good romantic suspense story. I read it on a 9 hr plane journey, I was totally engrossed from start to finish, so much so, that I worried the passenger sitting next to me at about 50% into the book by gasping out loud!! ( surely I can't be the only one who was shocked at that point? Lol ) Just when I thought the story was wrapping up, Ms Beauman took us on another twist and turn. I like how the romance doesn't happen in first few pages and builds throughout book, and I felt there was more suspense than previous books. Bravo to the author! Really great read.

This is the first I've read in this series and I liked it. Start with a Russian-American ballerina, throw in diplomats, bodyguards, rebels and intrigue and you have a story that goes from New York to Moscow with a few places inbetween.
It's well written and I loved the main character Lila.
    Excellent stuff.

Great book. I thought the book was really well written and could not put it down. Only downside is that I would have liked to have a bit more of an update on all the other bodyguards. In the previous book pregnancies were mentioned and I would have liked to have found out who had what.

Russian ballerina, Mira Markovik was married to the US Ambassador to Russia, Jonathan Avery. Mira was a famous prima ballerina who died giving birth to Lyla. We jump 25 years later where Lyla was now a prima ballerina with the Manhattan Ballet. Because of whom her parents were many expectations were put upon Layla. One of which was to visit Russia. Because of the political unrest at the time, her father was concerned with her safety and wanted her to postpone her trip. Lyla felt the people of Russia expected her to go and she didn’t want to disappoint them so she was determined to go.

Lyla’s father was concerned with her safety so he hired a bodyguard for her. That man was Collin Michael who worked for Ethan Cooke Security. He posed as Lyla’s boyfriend so that they could be together all the time, without drawing suspicion.

Collin and Lyla really liked each other and enjoyed spending time together. But it got harder and harder for them to make everyone believe their story. Especially when Lyla is in danger and a country wants her dead. It gets exciting when they try to get out of the country and Collin has to use some of his bodyguard training to keep them safe.

This was a well-written romance with an unusual plot and setting. The terrorists chasing after a ballerina in Russia was exciting. Lyla was a beautiful, accomplished dancer who always did what was expected of her, without consideration for her own safety. I did find some of the descriptions of ballet to be a bit tedious and not necessary to the story at times. But they did help to tell us how disciplined Lyla was with her dancing. That was her life. I really liked Collin. He was great at “playing his part” as Lyla’s boyfriend. And he was so considerate of her. He was just an all around nice guy. I liked that they both saw the good in each other, becoming friends before having deeper feelings.

5.0 out of 5 stars Finding Lyla... and true love
Reviewed in Canada on 3 August 2017
Another great book by Cate Beauman.
Lyla is a dual American & Russia citizen. Her mother was a famous ballerina and her father is the US Ambassador to Russia.
Lyla's mom died giving birth to Lyla. Lyla also is a renowned ballerina.
Lyla is almost 25 yrs old and is living in Manhattan. Every year she returns to Russia to see her father for a few weeks around her birthday. Due to the political unrest and terrorist attacks, her father tries to discourage her from going to Russia at this time. Her father is being pilloried in the media because of the US position on Chechnya. Lyla decides she needs to be with her father. They decide she should have a bodyguard who will pose as her boyfriend. Enter Ethan Security Company. Needless to say, Lyla and Collin hit it off. However, there's more than a few obstacles for them to overcome including car chases, bombs, Lyla being kidnapped, etc.

I've read about half of the series and I intend to read the rest. Each book is a stand alone with a HEA. I highly recommend this series and in particular, this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars in a light hearted and fun way with lots of heart warming moments

The story starts of with the growing attraction between Lyla and Colin. It covers the growing relationship, in Russia, in a light hearted and fun way with lots of heart warming moments. From the time the main characters crashed the plane, their fight for survival was riveting and I had a hard time putting the book down. It was even more tense waiting for the bad guys to arrive and against all odds Colin and Sam save Lyla. The author wraps the story up nicely, without rambling on for chapter after chapter. This is a very good read!

5.0 out of 5 stars Collin and Lyla
Reviewed in the United States on 5 April 2021
This book is an exciting and emotional read with an American/Russian ballet dancer and a bodyguard pretending to be her boyfriend. Lyla Markovik-Avery is also known as Russia’s Princess after her mother known as The Queen of Dance died giving birth to her. Her life is full of intense practice and physio and pushing her body past its limit. Lyla’s father, the US Ambassador to Russia hires Collin Michael’s to pose as her boyfriend so he can protect her on her trip to a troubled Russia. The two hit it of great and quickly become the media’s Princess and Prince Charm but tensions are rising as terrorist bomb innocents and threaten more violence. Collin has his hands full as Lyla try’s to pulls away from him and danger increases. We have action, suspense, the beautiful sites of Russia, a nasty dance partner, an equally nasty and devious reporter, a mostly absent father who wants his daughter happy and safe, a woman who has done what was expected of her and a man who wants her to be whoever she wants to be.
