Gather your gang and hold your breath—the romantic mystery of a lifetime is about to begin.

Lou's new to the Rockies, intent on escaping her oh-so-controlling ex, and she's determined to make it on her own terms…no matter how tempting new ice dive captain Callum Cook may be. Lou is a hurricane. A walking disaster. Perfect chaos in every way. And with her, Callum's never felt more alive…even if keeping her safe may just kill him.

"I can't wait to tag along on the next rescue mission." -- Paranormal Haven

"Fast, funny read and a promising start to a new series." --
Smart Bitches Trashy Books

"This initial entry into the Rocky Mountain Search and Rescue series is off to a promising start. The teams of first responders include law enforcement, fire department and an ice rescue dive team. The women in their lives are no shrinking violets either, if the heroine featured here is any indication." --

Funny and interesting - i was glued to it for days! I'm always pretty stingy with reviews - and I can count on one hand the number of 5 stars I have given to the hundreds of romance books I have read through Amazon, but this actually deserves it. Good romance, comedy that made me laugh out loud, and easy to read with very few errors or parts which didn't make sense. Could be stand alone if u are just looking for the HEA, although does continue to book 2 if u want to buy the next part.

Callum Cook is the captain of the Field County’s ice rescue dive team and he’s driven to perfection but all his hard-won order is obliterated in an instant when he meets Louise “Lou” Sparks who is a walking disaster in this thrilling romantic suspense. Tagging along on the rescue missions all while Callum and Lou try to stay alive was quite an exhilarating experience, though to be honest, I wasn’t sure that I was going to like Lou all that much (hurricane describes her perfectly) but she had a few surprises in store for readers and changed my mind pretty quickly as her and Callum make a great combination and I can’t wait to tag along on the next rescue mission.

Lou leaves Connecticut and her overbearing parents and boyfriend and moves to the Rocky Mountains in Colorado. She is training on the Search & Rescue dive team where the divers work in freezing lakes. Because she's the only woman on the team she has to work extra hard to get their trust. Lou was a lawyer in Connecticut but now works in a coffee shop so this is a huge change for her.

Callum is her team leader. He's a tough and intense man with complete control over his team. Lou is quite spontaneous so his control over her actions is not easy for him. Even though Callum's approach to everything having to be "just right" and Lou blunders through life, they are attracted to each other. In this case, opposites do attract.

While on a dive training Lou dislodges a body from under the ice. When she goes back to her truck she sees one of the tires have been slashed and this isn't the first time it's happened. Between Lou wanting to find out who the dead man was and having a stalker, she's got a mess on her hands. Callum gets all alpha and won't leave Lou, feeling she needs his protection.

Katie Ruggle is a very illustrative writer making it easy to picture the events taking place. The book is a great read and definitely captures the reader in the story line, but that wouldn't work if she didn't have good characters. Lou is a strong, courageous woman that comes across a bit klutzy at first. But we see that's mainly because of her feelings for Callum which she tries to hide. Since she wants him to see her as capable, whenever she messes up, she feels it's ten times worse than it really is. Callum is very competent and can't abide being anything else. The differences between them was so extreme that I couldn't picture them as a couple. He had OCD, being a clean freak and she was a total slob. I wondered how they could have feelings for each other but, obviously, attraction has nothing to do with how clean or messy someone's house is.

If you like suspense and action with a bit of romance tossed in, you'll like this book.

~~I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads ~~

Having really enjoyed the introductory novella I am delighted to be reading this series.

If you are a little jaded with books which are just romance, and maybe follow a degree of formula, then you should definitely try this out - it retains some delicious hotness, but at the same time is a good scary novel with some excellent twists and plot writing. I always know a thriller is working when I have to stop to remember to breathe, and also to remember it is just fiction. Ms Ruggle is very good at changing the temperature at just the right time. I have to say, if I were to choose a career in diving, the Seychelles would appeal a lot more than that frozen environment, brrrr.

The Search and Rescue roles are many, so I have a feeling we are going to be treated to a wide range of characters and jobs, which will ensure that the stories stay fresh and the plot entertains. I am looking forward to the next installment.

Ladies, if you are looking for a love story with plenty of testosterones and unsual back ground, this book is for you. It is nice to learn about ice rescue teams. We never hear about them. Light, humourous & action packed. These can qualify this book. Thank you.

I always try to find good new authors and discovered Katie Ruggle by change.
Her writting is witty, fast paced and very good. It had been long that I was captivated by such an endearing couple as Lou and Cal. Their scenes together are great and the fact that Lou is telling the story is interesting because of her witty remarks.
    I enjoyed very much!

I wish the description wouldn't have said that she was being stalked by an ex-boyfriend. Kind of gives it away, and there's no who done it suspense.
