4.6 out of 5 stars 814 ratings

Burn more fat in less time with HIIT workouts you can do anywhere

High-Intensity Interval training is one of the top fitness trends, and for good reason! HIIT is widely recognized as the most efficient and effective way to burn fat and get in top physical condition. By alternating between intense bursts of exercise and less-intense periods of activity, the body burns more calories, even after working out is finished, in less time compared to traditional forms of exercise.

Written by the Official Trainer of the Indianapolis Colts Cheerleaders,
High-Intensity Interval Training for Women is a step-by-step, highly visual guide packed with exercises, workouts, and multi-day programs to satisfy every fitness goal and any time commitment. Women will learn the right way to perform more than 80 HIIT exercises that can be done anywhere and cover all the major muscle groups, with emphasis on core and lower body, and then you will learn how to integrate those exercises into a variety of workouts and programs that maximize results over a minimal amount of time.

I truly recommend it!!!
Some time ago I had bought a book by the same publisher, called ''core strength training '' and I loved it. This HIIT book is wonderful, there are lots of exercise divided in different levels. All the exercise have photos and explanations for people who for the first time encounter this innovative way of burning fat. The delivery with Prime was quickly.

Great book! Fantastic range of programmes suitable for all levels and ability. Each routine has its own unique name such as 'Drop it like it's squat', 'firm and burn' and 'core killer' followed by a description plus trainer tip or challenge or caution. You can assess your starting point and then progress from there using goal setting techniques. The first two sections covered HITT basics including nutrition and recovery tips as well as pre and post stretches. Good background information on the four models. Beautiful photos of the models demonstrating all the exercises with excellent technique and detailed instructions. The book is aimed at women and focuses on the areas in general that women like to improve such as arms, abdominals and legs. Even more as a plus point the author is aware of the need to promote strength, balance and agility. The exercises are challenging and progressive and the routines are varied. Definitely recommend this book to fitness instructors to get ideas and for women of all levels and ability who want to improve their fitness and push themselves to the max.

This is the best ever exercise book or guide that I have read. The variety of workouts is immense and you genuinely can find a workout to fit into whatever time you have available, or whichever body area you specifically want to target at that time.
From the outset you pick up on the recurring threads of health, body confidence, muscle and overall fitness. It's about being strong not skinny! The friendly, conversational tone is fab and the biographies of the four athletes are a nice touch too. What is also great, and I found very inspirational, is that the four female athletes in the book look very feminine and extremely attractive-but are not skinny rakes! They have curves, however are very strong and have great muscle definition with it. You look at them and feel inspired!!
The photography throughout the book is perfect, as are the explanations.
If you are a man reading this review, or thinking of getting this book, do not be put off by the title. This is defo not just for women!! The workouts are very tough if done properly and at the hardest level. Two of my male friends, one of whom is a qualified PT, have now bought this book and think it is outstanding. You can do the workouts anywhere and need no equipment so it's great for use at home, or at the gym or for throwing in your bag to take on holiday. There are different programmes you can follow in the book of you desire. So far I've done the 7 day and the 14 day programmes and they were brilliant - but really tough - workouts!
I would recommend this book to anyone who likes HIIT or Metafit type workouts, or anyone simply looking to mix it up a bit in regards to their training.

As a Personal Trainer who takes a lot of HIIT classes I purchased this book (second hand) from some ideas to freshen up my classes.

The book is well presented with good photos that’s usually easy to follow and pretty good information and descriptions. I’ve used some of the exercises already and they went down well in the classes. So it hit the nail on the head for what I purchased it for.

Negatives- the use of the word women in the title. Just unnecessary, my classes are probably about. 70/3 split of men and women. Didn’t need the word women in the title.

A few of the exercises were a bit out there. Might get a few very fit and coordinated athletes doing them, but good luck getting them performed properly in an exercise class.

The exercises are very ployometric generally. That’s not a bad thing per se, but thought I would throw that in there. Think 5 versions of the jumping jack and you are about there

This is the first item I've ever reviewed in all the years I've been buying things from Amazon and I definitely feel it deserves a 5* review. I've bought loads of exercise books in the past and this is the only one I've actually used. It's extremely well laid out, with clear instructions and visual images. The info at the beginning is also really helpful. I've calculated my body fat %, created SMART goals and done the fitness test. Yes you have to flick through the book to find the instructions on how to do each exercise, but if you do all this before you start then it doesn't disrupt your workout. I will definitely be using this book on a regular basis. I've been doing HIIT workouts for nearly a year now, but tended to stick to the same movements. This book is a great resource to add variety to your workout. Would definitely recommend this if HIIT is something you enjoy doing. I was red faced and breathless on level 1! Buy it, you won't regret it.

I like this for coaxing and motivating me into HIIT exercise world as i dont usually push myself to the limits, I bought this one for my sister as it's so good, nice pictures with instructions to all the exercises, which there are a lot of different ones...so not boring and very varied, nicely organised, and a variety of programs to choose from short ones and up to 28 day one..and 3 levels for each ..so good for beginners/ less fit ( like me at present according to the fitness test..and I do little at present so accurate!) through to very fit. I'd recommend this.

I LOVE this book. I am very knowledgeable when it comes to fitness but wanted some new ideas on how to mix things up. I am preparing to join the RAF and need to increase the intensity of my workouts. The workouts are quick but very effective. The best part is you can do them anywhere as there is no equipment, just your bodyweight. The fitness test is a great gauge on what your current fitness level is. When I completed my first workout I thought it wouldn't be that hard as its seemed quite basic to me. I did a level 3 circuit and I can honestly say it really did push me. This book is great for all fitness levels and will give you a great workout. Take time to read the book and learn all the moves for the circuits, so when It comes to working out you don't need to flip the pages back and forward.

5.0 out of 5 stars The most helpful fitness book
Reviewed in Canada on 15 July 2016
I love fitness books, but often it's a lot of talking and not that many routines. This book is nothing BUT routines. I fell in love with HIIT because of Shaun T's INSANITY workouts, but I did it so much, it got redundant and I got used to it. Also doing those particular moves started to get really hard on my knees and shoulders and I was getting injured.
This book lets me pick and choose routines I want to do without feeling like I have to repeat the same thing over and over (and I can also substitute and modify moves based on what my body needs). It's broken up into 3 levels (Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced) and tells you how long each routine should take (so you can also decided based on how much time you have) and it also puts together 3 day, 7 day and 1 month plans to follow in case you want to take the guess work out of what routine to do each day. And there's also a reference to how to do each of the moves described with incredible glossy photos.
Honestly, I really look forward to working out because of this book. Because I'm prone to injury, I do a combo of this and the treadmill in my condo gym for cardio with Mary Helen Bower's Ballet Beautiful for strength and one day of full body weights in my condo gym and I can feel (and see) a difference.

There is a great combination of workouts to pick and choose from. It's easy to reference the particular exercises from the back of the book. Very happy

I have previously been doing some youtube HIIT workouts and read this kindle book with a list of HIIT routines and explanations of each exercise. The book also covers briefly on HIIT benefits, nutrition, fitness goals, warm up/cool down exercises. I have been really enjoying making up my own challenging workouts, prefer my own workouts rather than doing a youtube exercises.
