Protecting Miss Jenna: Dream Wildly Unafraid (The Lydia Collection Book 2) Kindle Edition
Louisville, Kentucky 1859
Wade Taylor is the perfect blend of American renegade-pioneer and English aristocracy. He stands for God, the Bible, freedom, and guns. If anyone can bring Owens to justice, he can! The problem is, Miss Jenna is bait and doesn't even realize it. It's going to take round the clock coverage to protect her. Twelve schools in Jefferson County under his jurisdiction, but the school house in rural county district four... Owens is fixated on.
Vivacious and beautiful, Jenna is the product of her southern belle mother and abolitionist father. She's also the new teacher in district four. How on earth is he going to keep her out of trouble and bring Owens to justice?
The tension is building in beautiful, rolling Kentucky in this Civil War Era love story! Kentucky author, Lisa M. Prysock, manages to keep readers on the edge of their seats with many twists and turns in this heartwarming, Christian, faith-inspired, historical romance.
'The Lydia Collection' is a series of unrelated, Christ-centered, historical romance books that can be read in any order. The first story in the collection is "The Redemption of Lady Georgiana," a Regency time-period romance, loosely adapted from one of the greatest Bible love stories of all time, The Book of Ruth.
Lisa is the author of two faith-inspired, Regency, romance books and two faith-inspired, Victorian, romance books: "To Find a Duchess," "The Redemption of Lady Georgiana," "Hannah's Garden: a Turn of the Century Love Story," Volume 1, and "Abigail's Melody," Volume 2 of 'The Victorian Christian Heritage Series.' About the author

Lisa M. Prysock is a USA Today Bestselling, Award-winning Author who writes both Christian Historical Romance and Christian Contemporary Romance books--"Romance with a Dash of Food, Fashion, Faith, & Fun." She writes both traditionally and Indie published novels.
Kentucky inspires her writing and is home. Happily married to her husband of 25+ years and empty nesters, they are gradually reclaiming the house after homeschooling two of their five children, grown. Lisa grew up in the Ohio Valley and spent her early childhood years in Wisconsin and Minnesota on a farm. "There were chickens, a cow named Daisy, horses, a huge vegetable garden, fishing, a tree house, and snowmobiles."
She won several prizes for a short chapter story and some poetry during her middle school years, purchasing a manual typewriter with some of her first babysitter earnings for plunking out stories. She went on to win the Lighthouse Award for her debut novel. A few of her favorite books include the "Little House on the Prairie" series, the "Anne of Green Gables" collection, the Jane Austen collection, C.S. Lewis books, "Jane Eyre," "War and Peace," and "Little Women."
Lisa writes romantic, sweet, wholesome, fun, adventurous, inspirational literature with humor and unexpected plot twists. Many of her books include mystery and suspense. She enjoys sharing her faith in Christ and encouraging others on their journey toward knowing Him through her writing. She believes people need and want to know how wonderful the Lord is and attributes her dream of writing coming true entirely to Him. Her theme verse is Acts 16:31, Believe on the Lord Jesus and you will be saved--you and your household. She also adopted the slogan of "The Old-Fashioned Everything Girl" because of her love for all things Victorian, Regency, Jane Austen-ish, historical, and old-fashioned.
When she isn't writing, she likes to cross stitch, crochet, sew, scrapbook, sketch, swim, dance, take walks, travel, explore historical homes, garden, cook for her family, play the piano and violin, and read great books. Powered by coffee, tea, and chocolate, she also loves butterflies, Victorian houses with big front porches, hats, sundresses, espadrilles, boots, and flip-flops.
Lisa gives a generous portion of the proceeds of her books to help spread the gospel. Find out more about this author at: www.LisaPrysock.com.

5.0 out of 5 stars historical with a lot of Kentucky heritage
Protecting Miss Jenna is Book 2 of the Lydia Collection written by Lisa Prysock. I have not read any other books by Ms. Prysock, but felt that this book was easily read as a standalone as it states at the beginning of the book.
I liked how the author wrote the character, Wade. He was on the board of the local school administration and interviewed Jenna for the position at the local school. This book was written at a time when there was great hatred in the Kentucky area for black people and especially the educating of black people. Wade and the other on the school board offered Jenna the job as teacher, but never really told her all of the situations that resulted in the need of a new school teacher at this specific school. Due to this information being withheld, Jenna is in grave danger and Wade realizes it and takes up the responsibility of keeping watch over Jenna…hence Protecting Jenna, the title of the book! I won’t spoil the story with any more details, but recommend you read this story!
There is a great deal of Kentucky history and heritage placed within this book. It is easy to see the love that this author has for her state. She took great pride in not just writing a very interesting fictional story, but also by adding such historical aspects and tidbits that relate to the characters of her story.
I was provided a copy of this book by the author/publisher. All opinions in this review are my own.

3.0 out of 5 stars Three Stars
A bit saccharine for my taste, but worthy morals and goodness abounding and likeable enough characters.

4.0 out of 5 stars I miss Louisville!
This is the second book I have read by this author. I like this one better than the other. I was excited to read something with a historical Louisville setting since we had lived there several years. I'm really wishing we had paid more attention to the historical aspects of the area while we were there. It was an enjoyable story. It amazes me to think of 1000 acres being owned by a single family. I think a post Civil War story explaining how some plantations were whittled down in size to create what we have today would be interesting.
One negative. I have to agree with another reviewer, why in the world did the author persist in using the word "husbandry" in such an odd way??!! I looked it up to see if it had a different meaning during this time period, but found nothing. :-(

3.0 out of 5 stars Incorrect punctuation
There were too many incorrectly placed commas, and the word "husbandry" was used inappropriately. The storyline was enjoyable; however, it appears no one edited it very closely.
