This is wonderful fantasy romance novel which has a surprising twist. The author creates characters so well drawn it feels as though you've known them all your life.
The admirable protagonist Gwen has had to overcome some major obstacles in her life, despite this, she manages to study medicine. After a year a gorgeous stranger walks into her life and she learns about a magical past she'd never dreamed about.
A gripping novel which will have you turning the pages. I highly recommend it.

Will of Fate comes with a young-adult fantasy romance world built around two Fae kingdoms. The plot is interesting, and leaves behind some mysteries that will be probable cleared in the next novels in the series, yet the narration tells too much, missing to make the readers feel as though they are there - seeing the sights and hearing the sounds and experiencing the events for themselves... Almost everything comes through evocative details and sensory impressions of the omniscient narrator, setting a large distance between the reader and the story. The show is partially saved by using some stream of consciousness techniques that fit well in the general narration. The story moves easily from the Winter Court to Summer Court, and human realm, and the Fae world is very well built (here the descriptive skills of the author pay well). The main character, Gwen is an attractive young heroine that appeals to the audience of adolescent girls for whom the book was mainly written.

Loved it. Full characters you really feel invested in. The mystery of her father was kept up until the reveal I suspected 3 people. The flash backs were perfect so we didn't feel lost. Young or mature readers should enjoy this book. There was the odd minor spelling or grammar error but they were minimal. If I had to find a flaw it would be with the royalty using me instead of I. Royalty or nobles would usually be very formal in their speech especially when addressing a group. But that is extreme nitpicking on my part as I believe there is always room for improvement. I loved this book and will definitely be reading more by this author.

This book is a page turner! I don't really like sci-fi, but when I read "Will of Fate" by Samantha Britt, I just couldn't stop. This book kept me turning the pages cause the pacing is good and didn’t leave me feeling like I was slogging through any slow points. A very interesting and well written book. Definitely a good read.

Gwen, a twenty-something medical student home on summer vacation, meets Kalan, Prince of the Winter Court. She learns about a magical past and future she’d never dreamed of.

Like most great loves, theirs was, of course, forbidden. This book is a wild ride of family, friendship, fae, and fate, and left me eager for the sequel.

If you like fantasy romance (or even if you don’t) this one is worth a read.

There was simply no way I could have expected the plot twist by the end of the book. It was quite a rush.

I'm usually not a fan of romance, but it was done very subtly and not without costing the plot. I took the book very seriously from about the second chapter, once I was familiarized with the world, and managed to track the characters perfectly - from my experience a difficult quality to find in fantasy books.

Yet the book leaves me with one question unanswered: "who did it?" and I'll be waiting for an answer in the second installment.

While the broad sweep of the underlying themes is a major part of any novel's success, both the deity and his or her nemesis hide in the details. The most intriguing premise still needs more than a fleshing out. It needs to be realized in an emotionally compelling way. As I see it, WILL OF FATE, Book 1 of Samantha Britt's series Dual Court Kiss, does have a strong premise, but misfires across the board in the writing itself.

The result is a chain-like sequence of charming tableau that reveal little about the characters beyond the next suspenseless plot point. By the last chapter, we know no more about Gwen, Kalan and the others than we did after the opening few chapters. While Gwen has character traits slightly at odds with a traditional princess, she's far from breaking new ground in this respect.

Nor does the conventional imagery and stiff, soap opera dialog do justice to the world Britt hopes to conjure. A few chapters in, Gwen enters a derivative magical realm resembling a Disneyland pavilion.

Were WILL OF FATE clearly pitched to the younger end of the Young Adult audience, this two-dimensional storytelling might be appropriate—as a valid attempt to keep things simple for younger readers. However, the book's rather frank romantic scenes indicate otherwise, many of which go well beyond moony eyes and breathless sighs.

Also sapping the book's strength is Britt's substitution of editorializing for storytelling. Instead of experiencing the characters' emotions directly, we receive up-to-the minute reports of their feelings from an omniscient narrator in a hurry to set up the next tableau. By contrast, the best stories tell themselves through their characters' actions and the motivations that drive them.

Considering that the book has received many 5-star reviews, it's clear the author has found a premise and a story outline that touches many readers. By walking away from by-the-numbers plot devices and freeing her characters from rigid genre stereotypes, I'm confident Britt could create a compelling novel with even wider appeal. As it stands, WILL OF FATE is merely correct and inoffensive.

I received this book for free in exchange for an impartial review.

5.0 out of 5 stars WOW! This story is a must read! It pulls at your heart strings and keeps you on your toes!

This book keeps you guessing and flipping through the pages. I am a fan of fantasy novels, but this was the first book I had read that involved the Fae realm and I have to say as a newbie this story was easy to follow! This story is nothing short of fun and whimsical with some beautiful romance. I love how the book is written by the Author--she uses different techniques throughout the story that make the book fun to read, such as flashbacks and going back and forth between characters and giving their viewpoints of what's happening as the story moves along..which I thoroughly enjoyed. The characters are well developed and lovable, you want to be their friends--the Author writes with such detail it is as if you are actually going through the amazing story with twists and turns along side of them. I can't wait for the second novel to be released to find out what the Author could possibly think of next. Hang on to your seats with this book, its undeniably one of the best I've read!

After reading fantasy/romances about half-fae/half-humans, it is nice to read a new twist on this with a book about a fae who is two different kinds of fae.

The flashbacks in the book were dealt with well. The author also did a good job with the characters' thoughts, especially when they included a flashback.

One thing that could have been improved upon was sentence structure. Some sentences were hard to understand.

This is a gripping fantasy/romance. Looking forward to reading more.

***I received a free copy of this book in exchange for a fair and honest review***

Gwen doesn't know herself. She has no knowledge of her lineage, she can't establish a stable relationship to save her life, and she can't grasp why her looks constantly earn her catcalls on the street. That is, until she stumbles upon the most handsome man she has ever seen. Who also happens to be a fae prince.

    Things just got complicated.

I absolutely adored this book. I typically have a ton of trouble getting interested in fae-related books because they come across as being cheesy or cliche.

This is not one of those books.

The realm of the fae that is described in this book is nothing short of phenomenal. From history to clothing to magic, every detail is provided with exquisite, but never trivial, attention. I am also astounded as to how much detail the author put into researching fae lore. It is well thought-out and put together seamlessly.

All in all, this book was one of my favorite 2015 reads. I give this a 5 out of 5 star rating.

Fans of mortal instruments will love this similar ‘almost incestuous siblings’ take on fated mates.

I know deep down that eventually it will be reviled that Gwen and Kalan aren’t actual blood relatives, but even so the lines are blurred with her bio dad raising him. Not to mention they share a passionate moment once Gwens parang age comes to light and boy is it uncomfortable.

Add in all the weirdness that is Ian being the man who raised her (and by all means considering himself her father) but is called her “friend” even when she THINKS he is her adopted brother and the story becomes very uncomfortable to read.

I’m disappointed because without all this weird family line blurring, this book wasn’t bad and in fact I would have bought the whole series but I won’t “muscle through” all the gross moments that I’m sure will happen in the future novels until it is miraculously discovered that, “hey, we’re not technically siblings, so everything is ok now! Not weird anymore!”
