I came to this book after reading The Puppet Master of Java by the same author. Perhaps not a deep or as refined but very enjoyable. Genuinely funny throughout without straining for comic effect - which isn't easy. The humour is often dark and so is the main character's journey yet in a strange way it felt uplifting throughout. Told with a kindness. I could read it again. Brilliant!

I read this book "cover to cover" in 3 days. Its not a short book by any means. However, it has a good pace to it and the principal characters will polarise opinion. I felt that the narrative was strong and the the story has an intersting twist in the tale.
Congratulations on an excellent piece of fiction and I will look forward to reading future novels by this writer.

Twelve days down provides the reader with the guy u hate to love in the character of Zezva. A misunderstood, oblivious and complex character who represents all the inadequacies we each experience but fail to voice. The social faux pas', the impulsivity, the overwhelming need to be liked and the inability to fit in. Page after page of literary brilliance in a short yet thought provoking read.

This is a truly compelling read about a Georgian immigrant who comes through the tests that life throws at him, many many of which are self made! This story will invoke all emotions in you. You'll emphasise with him, while finding him funny, clever, astute and at times irritating! I would highly recommend this opening novel by Alexander Crane.

When I first started reading this book I didn't think I would last more than a couple of pages as I didn't take to the writing style - but I quickly became gripped by the intriguing story line and needed to read to the end to know what had happened in those 12 days
Unfortunately I had to mark this down for the lack of editing/proof reading - lots of jumbled sentences

Alexander Crane really manages to capture the reader's interest in what is essentially an exciting/fast-paced period of one man's life. It is written in such a way that had me hooked from the first chapter. Crane also manages to manipulate the reader's opinions and feelings very well. I highly recommend this book.

A punchy and exciting thriller that recounts the events of a young man trying to navigate through the trials of London life as an outsider. The novella starts at its end point in a Tarantino-esque fashion and keeps you on the edge of your seat throughout.
