The Cowboy Inherits a Bride Kindle Edition

4.0 out of 5 stars 5,075 ratings

When Sunshine Patterson loses her Chicago home, job and boyfriend in one day, she needs a backup plan, fast. Luckily her Aunt Cecily has provided her with the perfect combination living and restaurant space to start over. Even though the building is located in small town Chance Creek, Montana, Sunshine is certain it’s only a matter of time before she’s back to take the big city by storm. When she arrives in Chance Creek, however, she gets a surprise. Her restaurant space—and apartment—are occupied by a rival to her inheritance: the incredibly sexy, incredibly wrong for her, Cole Linden.

Cole’s been struggling to save his family’s holdings for far too long. The indoor rifle range he inherited from his father barely pays its rent, but it’s all that’s keeping his other concerns—two apartment houses—afloat. If he was smart, he’d walk away from all of it and start over, but if he does, several dozen of Chance Creek’s inhabitants will find themselves without a home. He thought Cecily meant to leave him the range building in her will. Instead she’s set him up in a four-month-long competition with her big-city niece to see who will win the place. A niece whose knockout looks are making it damn hard for him to concentrate on the job at hand.

Sunshine can’t believe she’ll have to open a vegan restaurant in a rifle-range waiting room, and she can’t believe she’ll have to share her apartment with Cole, either. Cole can’t believe his friends are falling over themselves to help Sunshine succeed—and get a date with her.

Now the competition is getting hot, but the sparks flying between them are even hotter. Can Cole and Sunshine find a way they both can win?

This is short and sweet story with plenty humour to interact with the romance. Sunshine is a girl who has lost everything thanks to a cheating ex-boyfriend. Her aunt dies and leaves her a restaurant in her will, but it’s not as straight forwards as she had hoped. Cole is a well-built hottie who runs a gun club, and the pair of them may just have been match up by her dear departed aunt. Tempers fly and heads butt, leaving the reader with an interesting and compelling read.

Sunshine thinks her aunt has left her a restaurant, but of course there are strings attached. Cole is in her way. She is not the most appealing leading lady - quite frankly she was pretty unappealing and I wasn't sure about her but she grew on me. Cole was quite sexy and seemed a much nicer person. His mates were interesting and clearly there are stories there waiting to be told. There were some amusing moments and a little bit of sexiness and a pleasant time was had with this short sweet and very readable little novella. I will be reading this author again.

This book is a great introduction to the people of Chance Creek. Fun loving characters who stick together even if they do like to tease each other. If you haven't read any of Cora's books before but love to read about sexy cowboys, this is the series to read. Go on, you won't be disappointed.

Sorry, didn't like this implausible story. Everything of it, from will terms onwards, is so ridiculous. Have read others by author, enjoyed. This not good. Reiterate low reviews Amazon.com. Vegan restaurant in cattle country? The whole story was illogical. Cowboys have to work and not spend their day shooting or eating. How can such a small town support vegan restaurant and a diner? Story ends 79% on kindle.

Nothing wrong with this book. I enjoyed it, just felt their was something missing. That's only my own personal opinion.

5.0 out of 5 stars tolle Geschichte über zwei Dickköpfe, die sich einen Laden teilen müssen :-)
Reviewed in Germany on 9 November 2015

Good story, men will do anything for a beautiful woman, I liked the ideal of them being thrown together, things were rocky for a while but they came out great in the end, I like the way the author tells a story.

5.0 out of 5 stars because more bad news awaits her arrival
Reviewed in Canada on 10 December 2016
What does a girl do when she’s been beaten into the ground by the one she thought was going to be her future? Sunshine has lost it all in one day…her boyfriend, her job, and her home, as well as all of her savings, so when notice has come that her Aunt Cecily has left her a restaurant in Chance Creek, she takes what she has left and buys a bus ticket. But life hasn’t finished kicking Sunshine into the ground it would seem, because more bad news awaits her arrival. It would appear that she’s not quite finished fighting for survival. Cole has been dealt a raw deal by none other than his own father. While serving in the military, he receives paperwork requiring his signature to make him a partner in his fathers’ holdings, only to return Stateside to discover that they’re on the brink of bankruptcy. After his father passed away, he’s struggled to get the books back in the black, but only thanks to his indoor rifle range. But all of that would appear to be in jeopardy, thanks to the stunning blonde bombshell that just walked up to the building. Will they be able to find some sort of harmony between them or will one or the other, or both of them find themselves out on the street with nothing? A beautiful love story thanks to a meddling old woman.
Cora has a wonderful gift of bringing the worst situations and “making them work” and this book certainly fits the mould. Definitely worth the read.
