Welcome to your guide on how manipulators take control in personal relationships -
3RD EDITION!

Do you find yourself helping others even when you don’t want?
Are you always feeling guilty when you tell others no?
Do your friends tend to guilt trip you into doing things for them?
Are you tired of feeling like you have no control over your life?
Are you tired of being victimized?

If you answered
“yes” to any of these questions, then “Manipulation” is the perfect book for you.
Inside this book by Sarah Nielsen, you are going to learn everything that you need to know about manipulation, including why people do it and how you can learn to deal with it.

One of the first things that you will learn about when reading through “Manipulation” is the
warnings signs/ of an emotional manipulator. These warning signs will give you an idea of what to look for to try and help you determine if the person is manipulating you. Some of the most basic signs include negative reinforcement, as well as punishing you in some form for not doing what it is they want.

While it is important to learn the warning signs of emotional manipulators, knowing the
types of manipulators out there can help narrow things down even more. “Manipulation” covers both of these topics in detail, allowing you to gain a very thorough understanding of what you need to be on the lookout for.

Knowing about manipulators can help you, but the problem is
once you are a target you are always going to be a target unless you make some life altering changes. The author of “Manipulation” will explain to you what makes you a target for manipulation. They will also take you through what you need to do to make yourself a harder target, to hopefully break the vicious cycle of manipulation.

Making yourself a harder target for manipulators is great, but that doesn’t solve the problem of the current manipulators in your life. If you are currently dealing with manipulators you are going to need to learn how to resist their various tactics. In “Manipulation” you will be given several ideas that you can put to use to start resisting manipulators, as well as tips on how to make your resistance successful.

A big part of being successful against manipulators is getting them out of your life for good, but sadly that is easier said than done. The author of “Manipulation” discusses some of the
steps you can take to get rid of any manipulators in your life. The author also provides numerous tips and advice about how to make the break up stick. Breaking up might sound easy, but making it stick is rough, as many find themselves second guessing their decision in the rough days that immediately follow the break up.

If you are tired of living the life others want for you rather than the life you want to live, then it is time to take control over your life. With the exercises and advice provided in “Manipulation”
breaking the cycle of manipulation and taking back control has never been easier.

There is a lot of very practical and insightful information in this book. It would undoubtedly be of use to vulnerable people seeking to deal with a difficult relationship and decide whether it is abusive or trying to recover from such a relationship and ensure it does not happen again. The bonus material on establishing personal boundaries given at the end of the book is also very useful to those who are vulnerable to abuse and manipulation.
I would have appreciated some case histories to illustrate and expand the insights in the book. This is the reason that I haven't given it five stars. The author writes pretty well, but the book could have done with a final edit - there are missing words here and there, split infinitives aplenty and a few irritating spelling mistakes, particularly the repeated use of 'affect' instead of 'effect.'

A very informative and well constructed book. Other reviews highlight the lack of good proof reading prior to printing, which I have to agree with, however this didn't spoil the read too much for me.
I have read other good books on this subject, but this one in comparison is more condensed and easily understood, with a great no nonsense and practical approach to dealing with the problem of manipulation.
I highly recommend this book to anyone suffering from this horrible life destroying situation.

It has very interesting facts, that I would not have even thought about or acted on. This book has given me the skills and tools to identify my own circumstances and how to protect myself from manipulative people. It is a shame I did not read this book earlier in my life. Now being in the autumn of my life, realize how many times I have come across these sort of manipulative personalities. So read this good book before they destroy you.
As they nearly destroyed me, But I am a lucky one, I have survived. Angela

A truly interesting read, as a constant learner and being genuinely intrigued in the human mind and psychology this book explains in easy to understand terms how to recognize yourself as a victim and how to defend yourself against predators. A must for anyone who finds social interaction interesting.

    bit wierd.
  • Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 18 February 2017
Very poorly written, over simplifies a lot of things and doesn't actually offer any practical advice. Just a lot of vague scenarios that are too broad. not to mention the fact that you can't go 5 pages without coming across some sort of spelling, grammatical or typesetting error. Makes reading it all the more difficult and you have re-read sentences several times just to get the jist of them. There's no evidence to support the ideas in this book either - it's all just the authors opinion. Full of obvious statements and a thin book - no meaty content. I'm glad it wasn't too much money, but still gutted I wasted mine on this.

Only half way through and realised it's more of a biography of someone I know.

Brilliant to realize that your not mad, you're just being played like a fiddle.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very good book "IF" you are in a relationship with a manipulator
Reviewed in the United States on 14 January 2020
This book gave a very true description of how a manipulator behaves when engaged with in some sort of relationship.

Sadly it doesn't tells you how they behave in public, how they behave towards you if they are hostile, doesn't cover their dirty tactics how they manipulate others against their victims, how they like to avoid being detected and let others do the dirty work for them, otherwise this would have been a complete book about manipulator personalities.

Regardless, I highly recommend this book to gain knowledge of manipulators, and it deserves a 5/5 since it was title refers to being "in a relationship with a manipulator"

Concise description of what is manipulation, how it is done, how to recognize it, and how to defend yourself against it, and how to make yourself resistant to it. A lot of spelling mistakes and incorrect words in the sentences, that make it hard to understand the authors intended idea. It’s an ok book; not the best.

The last 40% of the book is a free “Boundaries” book by the same author. I really did not like it. Some things were off the wall. Most of the written content was hard to comprehend. Additionally, spelling mistakes and incorrect words - distort the author’s intended idea.

5.0 out of 5 stars I personally am not that big of a manipulator but i think i like getting what i want from time to time
Reviewed in the United States on 29 March 2016
Manipulation is a strong tool if you know how to use it. I personally am not that big of a manipulator but i think i like getting what i want from time to time. It takes skills to actually recognize manipulation and overcome it, especially in new relationships. The book went into great detail on each of the things a person can do to manipulate someone. The author was articulate and explained things thoroughly. Learned something new too. I was able to identify one of the techniques as having been applied by someone I know on me. Though gotta admit I read a couple of things that I have done that I didn't realize was manipulation. Now I just need to curb those.

It is so sad to be in a relationship where you are being emotionally manipulated. I’ve known a few friends who are a victim of this situation. The signs of an emotional manipulator are well discussed in this book to provide precautions to everyone not to fall in this unhealthy circumstance. This is a very good read; this will give you hope and courage to stop your sufferings. There are guides in this book on how to end being manipulated and it is so reassuring that by doing it, you have made the rightful decision to have the emotional freedom you deserved.
