Toby Neal is one of those authors you can always rely on to give you a great read. This book is no exception.
Can be read stand alone but is best read as part of the series. As the title suggests, this is all to do with the surfing fraternity where a death becomes more than accidental in the surf.
Lei is well occupied with this case and then the alcoholic mother of her husband turns up. Tie in the move into the nearly built house and you have a hectic narrative. Superbly crafted by the author.

Strongly established characters but I did find that this book dragged its feet in places. The plot seemed as if it was go ing to change at one stage and then didn't.

This is no 9 in the Lei Crime Series, and I came to this having not read the first eight. The story does stand alone, and the author is skilled enough to introduce the characters in a way that makes sense for a new reader, while hinting at their backstory.
Personally I found the Hawaian setting more interesting than the investigation into the death of a promising young surfer. Toby Neal obviously has an indepth knowledge of the islands, and I would have liked to hear more about the pressures and motivations of the different communities. Maybe I need to go back to Book 1!

I've read a few of Toby Neals books and enjoyed all of them. Each book can be read alone but is better as part of the series.
It's been a while since I read the last few books but it was so easy to fall back into the story.
These books are very well written and very enjoyable.

Toby Neal keeps the story flowing well. This is the second Lei Texeira book I've read and I've enjoyed both

I enjoyed this continuation of the Paradise Crime Mystery series. Both the main story (a dead surfing star) & the intertwined parallel story of the life of Lex had me gripped

I just love Lei Teixeira and her family/friends !
I learned a lot about the islands, way of life, sites.
Extremely well written. Although you happen to reconnect with familiar characters in each book, you can also start with a fresh look not knowing any of them, not easy to accomplish for an author.
Never get bored, always a good pace but in a wonderful setting !
