This set of books were totally addictive and I cannot remember a time when I enjoyed a book more and will be buying the rest of the series - which I have only done once before. Credit to the author for an excellent set of books. Thank you

Just finished reading all 7 books in the set.

They were enjoyable but a few criticisms.

I would rather these books were separated not contiguous. I prefer knowing how much of a book I have read and how much to go, not for a complete set.

If a family had this much grief in their life, they must have drawn the short straw. One of the many problems would be enough to drive someone to insanity!

There were a lot of errors, incorrect words and spelling mistakes. This happened towards the end of every book as if rushed. The implication is the author wanted to get to the end, which was also amplified by how quick some of the endings were, compared to more interesting drawn out beginnings! A shame really as apart from the above statements, this series is reasonably well written.

Hopefully AJ Carella, will grow into this role and I look forward to keeping an eye on her future work.

Thoroughly enjoyed this box set that introduces the McKays. From the start it just draws you in and keeps you there. Each book is a continuation of what is going on and gradually the family grows with new characters each time, children and adults alike. Take too long to explain all the plots and stories so you will just have to read them yourselves and enjoy.

Throughly enjoyed these books, once I started to read them I could not put it down. The only downside was that in one or two of the books I did guess who the murderer was. Will definately buy from this author again.

Really enjoyed the series of books. A good page turner, leaving you wanting more.
Author could do with finding a better proof reader as some words used made sentences not make sense. Also some of the characters were named incorrectly in parts of the sorry , referring to one character by another's name.

Great reading love the continuation of being able to read 4 books each one an individual story but all a continuation of one another without having to wait weeks or months or years for a conclusion editing was pretty poor though as many simple mistakes were made.

5.0 out of 5 stars More than an interesting family ...
Reviewed in the United States on 9 July 2020
This was an interesting series, I have to admit I became interested in the McKay's lives and it is full of surprises! Yet, how can one family experience so much crime and drama? Apparently, this one does but I noticed a few things of interest and had questions about choices these people made that didn't make a lot of sense. For example, Kyle used Kat's car to go to his job at the prison, yet they were supposed to be careful, that wasn't very careful because the Chief would notice (there are so many story lines I won't go into detail on that) as well as others who had their eyes on them.
Also, how can Kat, having been an LAPD detective, not know that someone would come for Daniel? A ring of kidnappers with up to 50 to 100 kidnapping's of boys the same age as Daniel and she goes on with her daily life as though crime doesn't exist, not worried that they wouldn't be coming for the boy? (That's another story line I won't go into so as not to spoil it, but I couldn't help but wonder whether this was a nail biting moment or an oversight, I'm guessing it was an edge of your seat moment where the reader knows something the character doesn't know.)
Also, I couldn't help but notice that the author must be British (which I didn't know prior to reading as I'd never read any books by this author before) "Jake took the bag ... walked to the car, popping the boot and dropping it in." Americans call it a trunk, so when I read that, I looked at the book again wondering, wait is this supposed to be taking place in the U.S.? Not that it matters at all, I found it amusing because I love British slang, the words are so much more appropriate. Like, we say flashlight, they say torch. And when you think about it, a boot for trunk and a torch make much more sense, to me.
Aside from all that, the stories were very intense and I couldn't put it down. How many times do you read that in reviews? All the time, right? Well, I really meant it, I had to find out what would happen next.
