About the author

Australian born, I love all things paranormal, my main attraction to it is the impossible being made possible. I am a hopeless romantic, and love a HEA in my books. If it has fangs, fur, wings, or halos I am all over it... (And anything in between) I have ventured into romantic Comedies and Mysteries, finding a great love of a who-dunnit? - Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 29 October 2014Wow Wow Wow What an awesome debut novel for Dzintra Sullivan.
I thought the story was amazing and a book that you find hard to put down, once you've started. Arkadia was just such a strong, easy to love character and her story took me on a bit of a roller coaster and at times, i wasn't sure what was in store for her next. It kept me completely hooked. Then there's Bohdan. What can i say about him? How about he's gorgeous, sexy, caring, romantic and is a dragon shifter! I fell in love with him from the beginning and the relationship between Arkadia and Brohdan is electric!I definitely wish i was Arkadia. I really felt the love and passion between these two all the way through the book and if i'm honest, it was a truly magical relationship that you feel from your fingers to your toes. I love getting lost in book and escape reality and this is what i experienced reading Arkadia.
Truly amazing book and i'm looking forward to Raven, book 2. I'm really excited to read her story. Amazing debut novel and it definitely deserves the full 5 stars! Highly recommend!
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 23 June 2015This book focuses on the main character called Arkadia. She is a 17 year old witch who has issues with magic. She needs to pass her PSE (paranormal safety exam), if she fails she will be sent to the feared Isle of Shadows. Arkadia lives in a Halfway House along with Raven (Vampire and twin werewolves Zahmali and Emerson). The Halfway House is a home for paranormal children who all have issues and would need help to pass the PSE by the time they are 18. The 'Den Mother' is an Empath called Eloise who is clearly loving and protective of her charges. When we first meet Arkadia she seems the typical bratty, self centred popular girl which I felt made it hard to like her. I was hoping that she would change and thankfully she did! Falling in love with Bohdan (Dragon shifter) and then facing the murder accusation caused her to mature. She is no longer the shallow girl, instead she gains an appreciation for the people in her life who love her and are part of her nonconventional family. Bohdan I feel is an alpha male in training and I can imagine in a few years time he will be even more of a force to contend with! I have to admit that I'm not a fan of stories written in the third person but that's just my preference, not a criticism. It was maybe this fact or the brattiness of Arkadia that caused me to find the book hard to get into at first.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 3 January 2016Arkadia is young witch, who is having a great deal of trouble with her powers.
She can't seem to do a basic spell, without it going really wrong..
If that isn't bad enough, the time is drawing near to her PSE exams. If she can't control her power, she will be banished to the Isle of Shadows...
Luckily the Halfway House has new Den Mother, who is doing everything she can to help. Also a sexy Dragon shifter has arrived in town and Arkadia has a new reason to fight for control. Bohan is everything she ever dreamed of...
Things go from bad to worse though, when a body is found in town and Arkadia is framed for murder...
Can Arkadia prove her innocence? Will she master her powers before it's too late?
Fantastic debute novel Dzintra Sullivan. Can't wait to read more :)
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 5 March 2015what a great debut book. a storyline that draws you in from the start with an interesting mix of characters.
Arkadia is a witch who has yet to gain control of her powers and has one last chance to pass her paranormal safety exam (PSE) without it she will be banished to the island of shadows.
Bohdan is the hot sexy Dragon shifter that enters Arcadia's life along with Eloise her new den mother, their support is essential to her surviving the threats against her.
This story has a consistent flow of intrigue, excitement and sizzling attraction (yep, I have a crush on Bohdan) with unexpected twists to keep you hooked, with such a great start to this series, I'm looking forward to reading book 2.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 15 March 2015I loved the book and loved the characters. I devoured the book in a few hours and read it in one sitting, once I started reading I couldn't put it down.
I can't wait for the next in the Halfway House series.
Arkadia is one of the best YA Paranormal stories I have read in the last 12 months.
A fantastic debut novel

- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 10 July 2015Arkadia is a self obsessed, cocky girl who is also a wit h but can not get her magic to work. She has one last attempt at passing pse or she is on a one way train to the island. Until she meets bohdan the sexy as sin hockey playing dragon, things we about to get interesting and her off starts falling into place nicely, she starts to trust him and her new den mother eloise and realises she has a family and isn't alone after all. Then things starting going bad quickly. Will arkadia be able to prove she is inocent or will she did whilst trying.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 7 January 2015This is Dzintra's debut book & at first I found it hard to like the lead character Arkadia, I found her vapid, selfish & vain. So I found the first few chapters hard to read & I almost closed the book for good... thankfully I didn't because that's when everything started to come together for the book.
Arkadia's life started falling apart or you could almost say falling together, that's when I became hooked & couldn't put the book down. A coming of age story, with a paranormal cast.
In the end I really enjoyed this book & will keep an eye out for book 2.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great YA Paranormal read.
What a great little book! I absolutely loved reading this well written story with it's well developed and entertaining storyline. Quite the different paranormal read from what I am used to reading, however it is a young adult book and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
The story itself is entertaining in that the halfway house that the characters live in is for young paranormal's who are having a bit of difficulty with their "gifts", their powers so to speak. There is a young witch, a young vamp...who faints at the sight of blood (not good for a vampire), and twin werewolves. The young witch, Arkadia is at best a full fledged teenager with all that encompasses, along with her problem with her spell casting. In other words, she's a mess. Enter into the house Eloise, the house mother and things do get interesting, especially for the young witch who is, of course a typical teenager and "bucks the system" every chance she gets. But Arkadia has had a hard life up until she was placed in this home, which lends itself to part of the reason for her temperament.
Arkadia has friends, para's themselves with the exception of Violet who appears to just be a normal human teenager. Now, enter into the mix, the hot great looking young ice hockey player Bohden and things really start to get interesting. Arkadia's reaction to this young man is puzzling as she actually faints from his appearance in her classroom. Eloise has a suspicion that this could be because he is her "mate". Arkadia blows this off, but soon finds herself drawn to him. She recalls feeling the unreal pull when he passed by her in his truck, but never understood why. She feels that he is a para but does not know what kinda of para he is. Now, throw in that Arakdia dates the mayor's son one night, a spell backfiring, a spell fixed but with residual side effects, a dead girl, an accusation of murder and things pick up and start to really get interesting.
The characters are well written and very well defined. Arkadia is a beautiful young witch with her spell problems. Bohden is strong, built, hot and he is definitely set on Arkadia. The supporting characters are wonderful in their own ways and I can't wait to see what their stories hold.
This book is quite light and entertaining with enough suspense to keep you turning page after page to see what happens next, who did it, and where/how it all will end.
Great read and I highly recommend it, not only to YA audiences but to everyone.
