Idle Bloom Kindle Edition
From USA Today & Wall Street Journal Bestselling Author Jewel E. Ann comes an unforgettable romance that will leave you breathless.
Vivian Graham has an acceptance letter into Harvard and a deferral of admission. Every day she takes the Red Line to her job in Boston while time marches on for everyone around her. A painful accident may have put her life on hold, but nothing can dampen her enthusiasm for it.
After all, nothing’s that bad when you have donuts—even the fact that she still has her V-card.
Oliver Konrad has just moved home to his native Boston to start his life over again. Three years after earning his degree from Harvard, he’s trading in his three-piece suit for leather work boots, and the law for landscaping.
Oliver’s days are predictable and his nights are lonely until he meets Vivian on the subway. Her long raven hair, green eyes, and mile-long legs are achingly sexy, but the way she “innocently” fingers and licks her Boston Kreme can only be described in two words—complete torture.
Even though Oliver never expected to laugh again, being with Vivian is easy, fun, and freeing. But unless he can find a way to let her see his closely guarded secret, their future is as improbable as a leftover donut.

A quote used in the book to describe the connection between the two main characters, but I think it perfectly sums up how it feels to start a Jewel E Ann book.
Jewel E Ann is an author that I am all too familiar with. Her words flow on the page as if they were written with golden ink. You know when you read one of her books that you’re going to laugh, you’re going to cry, you will definitely feel heartbreak, but you will also feel the most overwhelming sense of love. Every story she crafts takes you on an emotional rollercoaster, weaving intricate plots with rich character development. Reading her work feels like rediscovering the beauty of human connections, capturing both the fragility and strength of relationships.
Idle Bloom is a beautifully written tale of heartache, resilience, and love. Both our main characters, Vivian and Oliver, have experienced unspeakable trauma before they ever meet. They are both dealing with their issues in quite different yet slightly similar ways. Vivian has resigned herself to being a forever virgin at 21, and Oliver has decided that a life of solitude is the way for him at the ripe old age of twenty-nine.
Their journey together is a testament to the human spirit's ability to heal and find love even in the darkest of times. The story delves deep into their pasts, unearthing the pain that shapes their present, and follows their tentative steps towards each other. Jewel E Ann masterfully portrays their growth, making readers root for their happiness. The dynamic between Vivian and Oliver is both raw and tender, highlighting the complexities of healing and the courage it takes to open one's heart again.
Idle Bloom is more than just a romance; it is a profound exploration of life's trials and the transformative power of love. It's a book that stays with you long after you've turned the last page, reminding you of the beauty that can be found even in the midst of pain and the strength that can emerge from vulnerability.
As an author, one of Jewel E Ann's best qualities is the skill in which she incorporates humour into her books. The comedic relief is not only welcomed in this novel but thoroughly enjoyed. One moment I have tears in my eyes from utter sadness, the next I am belly laughing aloud and the tears escape me for a different reason altogether. This balance of emotions makes her storytelling not only engaging but deeply human, providing reprieve just when it is needed most. It’s this ability to seamlessly weave humour through the fabric of her narratives that endears Jewel E Ann to her readers, making each book a memorable and heartwarming experience.
“Sometimes ordinary words have such extraordinary meaning.”

- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 2 December 2014This is another book that firstly caught my eye by the cover. No..there wasn't a hot, sexy, tattooed man on the cover, but a pretty, sweet, innocent geeky girl. The reason it caught my eye was because of the geeky girl. Where there's geeky girls, there's is bound to be a very hot, gorgeous sexy man that is going to be chasing her. Unfortunatly I was wrong. You did however get a nice sweet, troubled man in Oliver.
I hadn't heard if Jewel E.Ann before so I was looking forward to reading it. I .ooked through some of her other books and reviews that sensed to have been very popular so I thought I was going to be getting a good read.
When I get a review book through I'm normal very excited and I can't wait to read them. I however just found myself putting this book off. Everything I went to read it, I just didn't want to. There was no reason why. There was no reviews, so I sopose I had nothing to go on. I'm the sort of person who likes to read reviews before they start a story, read about the authors others books if it's not a debut and get as much knowledge as I can. I don't no if if it was because of that I just put off.
I did however read the book and it was a good book, like I thought it would be from the blurb. I knew I'd enjoy it, I just needed to sit down and get stuck in to it. Once I started reading, I did read the book throughout the whole day. The book was very much a rollercoaster of emotions, that at some places I had to put the book down to gather myself and my thoughts. The next, I was laughing and I couldn't believe it was the same book I was crying over 20 minutes ago. The whole story is about 2people, Vivian and Oliver who are obviously destined to be together but life and obstacles just keep getting in the way all the time. They are two people who have had a whole lot of bad luck in their lives, so they shut out the world and others the best they can. Both of their lives are very predictable and lonely. That is until they meet by accident on the subway. As soon as they meet, theirs just this connection there. They know they can trust each other and be great friends. Love however never came in to the equation and took both of them by complete suprise. Watching their friendship grow as well as both of the characters in the book was lovely to see. They were both good people who had been handled a rubbish hand in life. I loved watching it "bloom" from friendship to love". They both deserved each other as they were both kind hearted people with so much in commen and you was hoping all the way through nothing would stop them getting there happy ever after they bother deserved. They struggled to be together so deserved it 100%.
This was a good romantic story of 2 people dealing with hurt and dealing with it together. It was completly not what I expected from this book at all. I was expecting a sweet Innosence, shy girl to fall for the bad boy, but I was wrong. It was a good story, and I'm glad I had a chance to read it. It just unfortunatly hasn't come close to some of the stories I have read lately that have knocked me off my feet and blew me away. That's not to say the story didn't flow well, as it did and the characters were likeable and well established. I just like a bit more bad boy in my story's unfortunatly.
The writers wrote a lovely romantic story, so if that's your thing, then you love this book. 4*
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 9 August 2016I loved the authors Jack and Jill series and the spin off "One", so I was looking forward to reading more of her books. This book started off as a lovely romance with cute, comedy moments. However, this book deals with some serious issues and felt like a "heavy" read. I felt like Vivian was too strong a character to be held back by her past. Oliver's past was horrific. I ended up skipping some parts because I didn't want to completely give up on the characters. I would probably give the book 2.5 stars.

I kind of went into this book with no idea what it was about except that it was by JEA so I was most likely going to love it. Of course, I was not disappointed.
This is the story of 21 year old Vivian who meets a hot guy on the subway one day. Vivian doesn't want to date because she can't trust anyone with her scarred body. Oliver is older and jaded, he doesn't want to date because he's stuck living with the ghosts of his past. They don't want to date...but they can't stay away from each other. This story chronicles their relationship. the ups and downs, the good and the bad. the pain and heartbreak and devastation of their pasts. The epic, and all-consuming, sometimes toxic, love.
I loved this book so much. Even though these characters drove me insane most of the time, I was completely invested in their love and I didn't ever want the ride to end.

I've said it before and I'll say it again Jewel E. Ann was such an amazing surprise for me I wasn't expecting such awesomeness when I dabbled into the world/work of her mind. I loved this story, Idle Bloom, such depth of emotion and great characters it's on a par with the other amazing novels I've read that were written by Jewel E. Ann. Perhaps the only thing I wasn't on board with was the choice of businesses for Vivian but believe me that's not a complaint.

5.0 out of 5 stars Donuts, Coffee, romance, tears, laughter & everything inbetween, so much can be said to describe an emotional journey like this!
Idle Bloom by Jewel E. Ann bewitched and betrothed me into a world, full of hilarity, romance, heart and tears. A truly amazing book I was introduced to, with the heights of raw emotion as high as the sky and the depths of the sea in the heart ensure the readers emotions be flooded with a exquisite and defying novel. Author Jewel E. Ann defines adventure of humour and heart in a quest of heart, as Vivian the female protagonist is a virgin by circumstances not choice until she meets Oliver.
Oliver and Vivian meet at her work The Green Pot, having been introduced when her brother is picking up essentials for a job. Vivian; young but grieving through a pain that defines her, Oliver is very much the closed off yet attractive gentleman as they first meet.
I won't divulge into the past of Oliver's and the pain of the past the novel envelops but it implores such meaning in the story. Idle Bloom deals with heavy issues and it was a takes guts to write such intensity like Jewel E. Ann has covering topics of depression, loss, pain, guilt and bringing each moment back to the bond that Oliver and Vivian grow throughout the novel.
I loved that this book had so much tear-jerking heart-to-heart moments between Oliver and Vivian but as the novel reached 80% I told myself, I needed to slow down because the vivid imagination and creation of the bond created with too intense to go full steam ahead without ripping shreds to my heart.
I fell in love with the narrative with the hilarity in the banter between Vivian and her friends, Oliver and Vivian and Oliver's family (P.S Loved Chance) just leaving me with tears of laughter, after feeling tears of sorrow and pain. A compelling and tear-jerking story that has so me wrapped up. The compelling lessons, grief, heart and soul that Jewel E. Ann put into this piece so grounds of heart and is a true inspiration. A captured heart, a journey of love, a depth of pain and an undeniable chemistry that will leave you with a full heart, definitely worth one-clicking!
P.S Donuts & Coffee FTW
