Deadly Journey Kindle Edition

4.4 out of 5 stars 330 ratings

DEA Agent Kurt Rawlings has made a lot of enemies in his successful career, sending hundreds of criminals to prison. But now he's the one in captivity, snatched in El Paso by assassins but taken and smuggled into Mexico by a cartel that wants him alive—for now. Hoping to survive and reunite with his family, he needs to escape before his usefulness expires.

The cartel's plans for him are more than a simple ransom. But whoever hired his abductors in the first place still wants him dead, and their reach is long. While he seeks a way out, his best chance to stay alive is to find out what the cartel wants with him, and who means to kill him

Rawlings knows what happens to agents like him—and his time is almost up. One thing is for sure. His enemies have picked on the wrong guy to mess with.

Declan Conner: Thriller Author

As a dark psychological thriller, Deadly Journey is true to the title. The author puts the protagonist through the ringer after his abduction by a ruthless cartel. Spirited over the border, this DEA agent's journey takes him into a world of cartels, drug traffickers, and cocaine production in Columbia, to incarceration in a Mexican prison where the prisoners rule. Brought from the edge of despair by a young woman fellow captive with a secret, her motives are unclear. The old adage "betrayal is the oldest sin" becomes apparent in his quest to be reunited with his wife.

I was highly pleased to read this book. The author knows how to turn words into sentences and sentences into paragraphs. He tells a cohesive story and doesn't make up facts to fit the story. In so far as I am able to judge, he has taken the time to do the necessary research.

The protagonist had to slog through an almighty mess to get to the last few pages, but things did come out right in the end.

    Well done!

Really enjoyed this book, DEA Agent Kurt Rawlings was most likeable and pretty believable character. It was pretty fast paced and headed in many directions that surprised but it was all well tied together that it was easy to follow and keep your head together with. I sort of picked the bad guy but it did not detract as you know in the end it had to be someone. Just purchased another book Missing: The Body of Evidence so hoping that is just as good. Would have purchased others by the author but they were just short stories so will not bother as I prefer a decent sized book. Not sure if author is reprising Rawlings character in a follow up book but I would read it if he did.
