Don’t Blame Me, It’s Everybody Else!: The Continuing Memories of a Confused Seventies Teenager! (Continuing Adventure of A Confused Seventies Teenager Book 3) Kindle Edition
Continuing on from "Don't Tell My Mum". It's now 1977 and we follow Alex through the twists and turns of growing up and leaving home, from the engagement party that she doesn't really want, through to the wedding that has nothing to do with the bride and groom at all and ending with a baby that was planned but 'not supposed to happen for another year'.
Among all the events are the ever present strange family. the attention seeking, all singing mother who can now buy a hat and be centre of attention at the wedding, the father, paralyzed with fear at the thought of walking down the aisle and giving a speech and the little brother who is still of a nervous disposition but has now swapped Avon collecting for drinking at age nine.
We also meet the in- laws who are even stranger and make the first family seem almost normal. Throw in a house full of slugs, shoplifting pensioners, patronising doctors, ill fitting hospital gowns and hallucinating sisters in law and you get some of the picture. If you liked the first books this one should give you a giggle.
"My mother said she would write me a note to get me out of being a witness,I told her it was Crown Court , not P.E"
"Terence was still in the closet at this point but the door was almost hanging off it's hinges"
"I told my mother you had to suffer to be beautiful, she said she wouldn't bother, she'd managed this long, she'd stay as she was".
Can be read as a stand alone book but to appreciate fully should be read as a series.

About the author

My name is Alex and I live in East Yorkshire, England with my husband of too many years to remember, two dogs and a psychotic parrot that hates me.
I was born in 1960 and grew up in the sixties and seventies. To all of you too young to remember those primitive times I can promise you that the things in my books are all true, it really was like that back then. Somehow we managed to live (and even enjoy ourselves) without mobile phones, laptops, iPads and all the rest. if you had tried to explain social media and the internet to us back then we would have thought you were mad. I cant say I wouldn't be lost without all those things nowadays but believe me, it was possible to live without it
Anyway, I hope you enjoy my books and find something in them to amuse you. i have been accused of making things up but i promise you, it's all true. i really was brought up in a family of nutters and oddballs.
Even if you find you don't like my sorry tales, I thank you for giving them a go anyway.
My books to date are:
Don't Look at Me in That tone of Voice
Don't Tell my Mum
Don't Blame Me, it's Everybody Else
Don't Know Where She Get's That From
Don't Get Me Started, We'll Be Here All Day
Dangerous Misunderstandings (Murder in a Paper Shop)

- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 14 March 2025Brilliant read, couldn't put the book down. It reminded me of my own youth and how things were. Once I started reading I couldn't
put the book down.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 20 November 2015Read the first book of Alex's and then this and now have the third which I am reading now. She eerily echoes my own life in many way. Narcistic mother, an only child for a long time. Father who is not capable of standing up to his wife. She also has an Aunt Dolly like I did. She writes in a very amusing way.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 20 October 2014This book deserves more than ten stars! Alex has a unique way of writing that is second to none! Thanks to her I have been transported back to my childhood and teenage years and relived them again in a most enjoyable way. We seem to have led parallel lives and I am sure there are many people born in the 60's who feel exactly the same way! I know this is Alex's final book but I am sure there is another book waiting to be written about motherhood and the trials and tribulations of what it all entails! Please write another one Alex! Thank you for three fantastically written books, I have recommended them to lots of my friends!
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 9 June 2015Was hoping it would be more hilarious, so I was left a bit disappointed.
Did not live up to expectations.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 16 May 2015I really like this author and her easy going style. Fun, easy read and well recommended. This story is, . I believe a second one in the series. It's about the prisoner's wedding and preparations for it, the family involvement and the following pregnancy and birth of her child. I read it after reading the 3rd book in the series and I believe now I'll just have to read the first one. A bit of a backwards order, but it doesn't take away from the story, and the way it's written you can read them independently. Enjoy.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 27 August 2014Enjoyed this book just as much as the other ones in the series. They take me back to my childhood/teenage years. Its an easy read.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 8 August 2014Just read all three books in a week, loved them all. I hope the story will continue in another book. The author makes everyday stories very funny and makes you realise that your own family is not that different after all. I was born in 1962 so these books bring back so many memories and brings home how much things have changed in our own lifetime.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 16 January 2019This is the second time I have read all 5 books: they are in my 'favourite books' collection on my Kindle. I haven't tired of reading them again, and will possible read again shortly. Very funny, and relatable.

5.0 out of 5 stars The funniest one of all
Book 3 in the continuing series ,and by far, the funniest. They have all made me chuckle, but this one literally made me laugh so hard there were tears in my eyes .
This one is all about the planning and execution of the wedding .Seems that her family were quite odd ,but she was marrying into one that was equally as strange. Neither set of parents got along ,so the wedding turned into quite an adventure ,but OH SO FUNNY !
Only one more yet to go in the series . I sure hope this author writes some more books. She is a gem .

The continuing adventures... From school to motherhood. With one dysfunctional wedding thrown in. Makes you appreciate your own crazy life/family.
