Game On Boys! The PlayStation Play-offs: Children's action and adventure chapter book (Game on Boys Series 1) Kindle Edition

4.3 out of 5 stars 3,159 ratings

Kids who love video games will be obsessed by the 'Game on Boys' series.

Game on Boys is about 10 year old Ryan James and his hectic adventures in the PlayStation club at school.
Designed to appeal to the heart of any boy or girl, with its captivating story lines, whacky illustrations and side-splitting humor, they won’t want to put it down. And there’s plenty of life lessons and learning moments and other good stuff in store to keep the parents happy too.

The PlayStation Playoffs is a hilarious action and adventure story that follows the adventures of ten year old cool gamer, Ryan James and his cool school, cool teacher and very cool PlayStation gang.

When the cool teacher, with the very uncool name, (Mr Higginbottom) introduces a PlayStation competition at school, everyone goes into a crazy frenzy as they battle their way to win the major prize. Ryan stops at nothing to make sure he wins, and with his awesome gaming record, he’s a sure fire thing to claim the prize.
But something catastrophically terrible happens to cause his plans of victory to come tumbling to the ground faster than an Enderman teleporting in for an attack.

But things aren’t always as bad as they seem, and sometimes good things can come out of bad things.

REVIEWS from ‘GAME ON BOYS’ SERIES from Amazon readers

This is the most amazing series I have ever read!
I love how you put so much detail in it!

My son is dyslexic and is not a fan of reading but his English teacher told him to try to read more at home. He's a fan of video games so I thought this one would be a good start and he really enjoyed it!

This was a good book. I liked it a lot and hope to read more of your excellent books. Stay the awesomest author ever!!!!!!!!!!

Had my Grandson in stitches. He couldn't put it down. Even at bed time and lights out he sat reading this book by torch light, great story easy for them to read and great fun to read to the children. Lots of fun and great Christmas gift.

Ideal read for those younger boys who need more challenging reading books

I love the Game on Boys series. I love this book. It made me laugh out loud. I am glad that Kate Cullen added a girl character Elly, because girls love to play video games too. Game on Boys 3 was a great story that is a quick and easy read.

My 11yr old son loves these books and number 3 is as good as the first one. Funny story that he can relate to and has a good moral lesson for kids.

FOR PARENTS
Enthralling, hilarious, and unpredictable, the Game on Boys series is designed to appeal to the heart of any boy or girl. Computer-obsessed kids, reluctant readers, and children-at-heart will adore this series with its captivating story lines, whacky illustrations, side-splitting laughter and heaps of school yard humor. This book is sure to get the kids away from their consoles for awhile. Make sure you read the other Game on Boys books soon. They can be read in any order, but preferable to read 1-6.
Read them aloud to your children and they won’t want to put them down; a great inspiration to continue to build reading confidence on their own.

Kate Cullen lives on the glorious Sunshine Coast in Australia by beautiful Golden Beach. She lives with her PlayStation addicted son, her Mine craft addicted daughter, her football addicted husband and a white fluffy thing called Lucy who is the subject of some of her books.

Kate has a background in teaching and nursing but her biggest passions are writing and acting.

As crazy as it sounds, Kate was inspired by her children's love of computer gaming to write humorous books for middle grade kids in an effort to gently lure them away from their consoles, and sway them toward light, humorous, and sometimes wacky books that incorporate just enough elements of the gaming craze to keep them interested.

Judging by some of her reviews below, her goal has been achieved because more and more children who also love gaming are fostering a new found love of reading as well. Look out for Game on Boys 2 very soon!

"5.0 out of 5 stars It was awesome April 26, 2015

It really spoke to me, I can not tell you how many video games ozone on my Xbox, wifi u, and wifi. It was a very good book and I hope a second comes out, in all I love these type of books, 'diary of a wickedly cool witch' and 'game on boys'. It is really awesome when people make entertainment for others as a hobby this book was just plain awesome, 5 star."

What PlayStation or Xbox obsessed kids wouldn’t want a teacher who also loves gaming. The book is really funny too, our seven year old grandson laughs out loud when grandad reads him a few chapters as part of bed time routine.

We are halfway through reading this book. Bought it on kindle for my 11yr old son. He has ADHD and a very short attention span but he is loving this book and can't wait to read the next chapter. He is finding it a funny read and as an adult reading it to him at bedtime I'm quite enjoying it too. Even better that it was free but wouldn't have begruged paying either as he is enjoying it so much. Am pleased to have found this book and would recommend to others

I think that the author makes Ryan's class a bit unrealistic because frankly, winning a chocolate bar for some easy work sounds good but this is a book. It is aimed towards younger readers but does contain the word 'crap' which is strange for it is only mentioned once. All in all I think this book is a 2-3 star book.
