Spital street was an easy to read story of kids growing up in a small street that could be anywhere in the world. It is based around the lives of two families and the ups and downs of life. Their love for cricket was the gist of the story with two families challenging each year as to who had the best team. The book made me laugh and cry at times. It was well written and the characters well described. This is a book for all ages as it took me back to my own childhood of kids playing in the streets and gardens. I would like to hang out with the kids in Spital Street! A very good and well written story and I do not hesitate to recommend for both young and old. I hope there will be a Spital Street 2.

Hi, I'm Amy and am 12 years old. I read No.1 Spital Street over the holidays and I really enjoyed it. The story has a variety of topics and I'm sure everyone will find something they like in it. The characters are really interesting but it took a while to get my head around them, so if you find it confusing at first don't give up! I would recommend the book to any child aged 8-13 but I'm sure adults would really enjoy it too. It deserves 5 stars!

What a lovely story book! It depicts life in a normal street, with normal children and families, and you live the events along with them. It's a real feel-good book. I bought it for my grandson, who was 10 at the time, and he is now 13 and has just re-read it! I also downloaded a Kindle version and read it myself and loved it. Looking forward to the next one, please!

It had so much detail and so many moral messages and subtle lessons covering all the major topics for kids. I wasn't expecting the huge gush of emotion when I read the letter. It actually made me cry!
It was all beautifully tied up at the end.
    Just loved it!
