About the author

Loretta Livingstone is a British author, who lives with her husband in a beautiful area of the Chilterns. She has written fiction and poetry collections.
Her first foray into the world of fiction was her novelette, Where Angels Tread - a story about a young homeless girl. All proceeds from this book are donated to a charity for the homeless.
She never intended to write historical fiction. She stated it quite clearly on social media - only to find herself writing...historical fiction.
Loretta's most recently published book is Blossom on the Thorn - the third tale in her medieval timeslip series. Out of Time, her first novel, was shortlisted for the 2016 Historical Novel Society Indie Award. All her novels are stand-alone stories.
She's hoping to be able to work on books 4, 5 and 6 in the series again soon, alhough health problems have meant taking a break for a while. She suffers from M.E. which means she can't work as fast as she would like.
Loretta says of her work, "Above all, I want to leave my readers with smiles on their faces."
You can follow Loretta on GoodReads, where she has an author profile or join her group on Facebook to keep up with any news.

- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 14 April 2014This is a real feel good tale, but with depth and meaning. The characters are introduced individually and then tied together so cleverly. No one was forgotten. I particularly enjoyed the TV watcher at the end. An excellent debut novelette by this experienced author who has an uncanny ability to reel you in!!
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 28 May 2014Where Angels Fear To Tread is only a small little novelette (54 pages), a quick easy, afternoon sitting-in-the-sun read, but it is a good read.
We meet several different characters in the story - "Strangers whose lives are destined to cross more than
once and change forever" but the author skilfully ties their experiences together and takes the reader neatly along the path of their intriguing destinies.
Where Angels Fear To Tread is one of those pleasant books that is good to have, and keep, on your Kindle..
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 5 July 2014I read this short novelette, having read some of Loretta's poetry. I wondered what her story writing would be like. I would definitely recommend reading it. It is very thought provoking, and very nicely written. It was one of those stories that you wanted to continue reading- when's the next book?
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 17 January 2015I love the way the story is interwoven with each characters point of view in to a whole, and how the book comes together with a satisfying conclusion. The book also has a story to tell of those less fortunate on the streets and sadly peoples attitudes to them.Well done Loretta.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 10 August 2018A very different take on the homeless; most people walk by, but some stop to talk. This novelette tells the tale from each character's point of view and some will surprise you. There is a happy ending and redemption, but not for all. This little book is rounded up with three delightful poems; from a creme egg to a rose.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 5 June 2014I enjoyed reading this as it was beautifully written and described the characters so fully i could imagine them very easily. The interwoven
characters and unfolding
storyline made it an interesting colourful read
I read it through in one and when i had finished it I wanted to know more about the characters. How had life treated them, what had they learned from their experiences? I wonder if there will be another book in the future.I have read all of Loretta Livingstones poetry books and I was excited to see that she had written a novelette.I hope the next one will be a full blown novel
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 29 October 2015The story really pulled me in. I could see this being made into a tv drama. I look forward to reading more from this author.

5.0 out of 5 stars BEAUTIFULLY TOLD!
I will admit that I have led a very sheltered life...and don't understand a lot of what people go through.
The other day my husband and I were driving past a park in a large city and I saw quite a few people who looked like they were homeless.
It made me really ponder what happened to them that would lead them to live like that.
As I was pondering I remembered seeing A LOT of PRAISING REVIEWS on this book.
So when I got home I picked it up and read it.
WOW! Such a GREAT story!
Jeannie is a shy girl who's father left them and her mother, Rita, has to work many hours to provide for them. One day her mother brings home yet again another man by the name of Matt...
Matt is suave and slick and dangerous. He seems to really care for Jeannie at first...and then he seems to care a little too much.
Rita starts to feel betrayed and yells for Jeannie to GET OUT!
Jeannie runs away...
With nowhere else to go..she ends up on the street.
Through different events Rod, Carla, Jeremy and Mike will cross Jeannie's path in life "and will change it forever."
BEAUTIFULLY TOLD!
It will definitely leave an impact on your heart!

4.0 out of 5 stars Ending too short

5.0 out of 5 stars YES, YES, YES!
I never read novellas. I've always thought they, being short, would not entertain enough, would not have a "whole" story and just would not be satisfying. How wrong I was. This story was great. It has filled my heart and put a huge smile on my face. It had also made me think.
This story grabbed me from the beginning and kept me reading almost faster than I could turn th e pages. Each character wad brought to lug err so vividly I saw them. More importantly, this was a story than put me right there-experiencing mot just reading this!
Yes, I so recommend this book to anyone and everyone. You will be so glad you did! :D
HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!! :D

5.0 out of 5 stars Where Angels Tread enforces my faith in humankind
Loretta Livingstone introduces us to Jeannie a 17 year old young woman living on the street and the people who affect her life both negatively and positively.
Miss Livingstone is a prolific writer who approaches the subject of homelessness in a genuine and sensitive manner.
"Where Angels Tread "is beautiful, heartfelt and inspiring. It touched my heart and I believe it will touch yours too.

5.0 out of 5 stars A fun twist on short story collections
First of all, I absolutely love the way this short story collection was created. Yes, it's a collection of short stories, but the twist is that they all tell parts of the same tale! Ingenious! I have read Ms. Livingstone's poetry, so I was intrigued when she decided to write short stories. I knew she had the talent to do it, but I was blown away by what I read. Where Angels Tread is the story of a young, homeless girl named Jeannie. Though she is down and out, the tale is one of hope, proving that there ARE silver linings...there ARE guardian angels. Jeannie's story is evidence of that. Read it for yourself. I promise you will NOT be disappointed
