Definitely 5 sparkly stars from me. A story of second chance love and so much more. Excellent writing and characters that keep you turning the pages. Good plot too. Deals with sensitive issues well . Holden is such a beautiful hero. Wow. I would have liked some of the book from his pov, but that's just my preference. Camryn was so very likeable. Brave and vulnerable with so many layers.
Excellent read. Standalone. HEA. An epilogue further in the future would have been a nice touch. Again, just my preference. Highly recommend. Enjoy.

this book was a combination of a love story thriller and dealt with sensitive issues but I could not put it down. I was cheering Camryn to conquer her past but also felt for the other characters. yes this was a predictable end but it was the only one anyone reading this with a heart wanted.

I loved the whole story line, it was fantastic however I feel the author spent too much time describing emotions previously explained and left you wondering why the things that happened between Cameryn and Jake happened.....basically there was repetitive writing towards the feelings of the two main characters....I feel this book had the potential to have been a great novel had the author expanded on the reasons behind Jake's actions......if there is a follow up novel regarding the "Jake scenario" I believe it should be less repetitive with the same description of emotions

I really loved this story, but took one star off as it ended so abruptly.......the huge revaluation at the end was not explained at all! Why not? I assume dad was ok, n did they get married? All that angst n I feel a bit let down however, it was still a good read.

What an awesome book. Such a raw and awesome storyline but I'm glad it ended the way it did I would have been disappointed if Camryn hadn't overcome her battles

5.0 out of 5 stars Holden is a sweetie!!!

I'm impressed. This was a great book. I have never read this author before. This is a second chance romance with a bit of mystery. Camryn and Holden have been best friends and girlfriend/boyfriend. Holden put up walls when they dated as young adults. Now, Camryn is putting up those same walls years later. You can tell that they still love each other. There is so much more to the story than just a lost romance. You see, Camryn is married. I was impressed with a lot of the dialogue that S.P. Cervantes created in this story. I thought some of Holden's quotes were some of the most romantic that I have ever read. My favorite quote came from Holden, "I'll spend the rest of my life showing you ,babe. I will make you know how much I f***ing love you for the rest of our lives, and then when we are sitting up in Heaven together, I will still spend eternity showing you that you are everything to me. You are all I'll ever need." Now that is swoon worthy. I did get a bit put out at Camryn. She is so stubborn! I loved all of the references to songs. The Civil Wars' song, "Dust to Dust" is a major theme. Lots of twists and turns. Mystery is solved in the end. No cliffhanger. Camryn's point of view. Take a chance and get this book. It's a good one!

OMG Where do I begin? I had 2 chapters left & I finished it at 4am. I just couldn't put it down. I HAD to see what happened in the end. And I cried. Like tears streaming from my eyes, can't see the words, crying. That doesn't happen often either. As you can probably tell, I LOVED this book! It had from from the getgo. The chemistry between the characters was amazing & I could feel the pull. They were both very stubborn too. I wanted to smack both of them.

This book was about fighting a fear from a horrific occurrence that took place years ago. Trying to push away memories of something that big is hard to do & effects every aspect of your life, but Camryn tries her best to do so. It's easier said than done. She still feels broken. When she goes back home for Christmas, she never expects what comes next. The one man who knew her best growing up, comes back to town. Holden Patrick is hot, amazing, sincere & the best boyfriend you could ever dream of having, but he was broken also or so he thought. He left when Camryn needed him most those many years ago. Despite the fact that Camryn is now married to a wonderful man & has 2 beautiful little girls, the chemistry comes back full force when she sees Holden face to face. As things fall back in place, life at home for Camryn changes.

Camryn is still broken & Holden is determined to find out what happened all those years ago. When someone else from her past comes back, memories start flashing through her mind and she freaks. She doesn't want anyone to know what happened. Will Holden be able to figure it out & save her from the bad thoughts she has going through her head? Will he be able to fix her & make her his again?

The events that took place in this story had me on the edge of my seat. I knew something bad was coming but never knew when. When I would think it was getting close, it never happened. S.P Cervantes threw me off guard when I was least expecting it & boy was it good. Pair that with the ending & you get a fantastic story. I absolutely loved this book & cannot wait to read the rest of the series. <3

3.0 out of 5 stars Good story just busy

    3.5 Cranky Stars

This is the first book that I've read by this author and I wish it would have been broken up into two books. There was so much going on that I was becoming distracted. The storyline is good and the writing is as well, just too busy.

Camryn had a tragic event happen during her senior year. Ever since then she shut down her feelings and erected a wall around her heart. She goes through the motions, marrying a safe man and starting a family while never truly opening up.

Holden had a rough start in life. He was bounced around from home to home and truly believes himself to be broken. He does end up seeing the light in his life and fighting for what he wants but it takes a while.

It's really difficult for me to write this review. The storyline has so much promise and deals with very delicate subject matter. I feel that there were too many plots happening at once and it would have read a lot better with less. I do have the next 2 books in this series and am hoping for cleaner writing.
