Intertwine (House of Oak Book 1) Kindle Edition

4.2 out of 5 stars 2,352 ratings

Outlander meets Bridgerton in a love story for the ages!

Time is not a river. It is a vast cosmic sea. Where each life exists as rippling circles on its surface, past and future being eternally present. And occasionally, one expanding ring intertwines with that of another, weaving the lives of two people together. . . .

In 2012, Emme Wilde can’t find the right guy. She wants to feel that swept-off-your-feet dizziness of true love. But so far, her dating life has come up short. Star Trek geek? Nice but too serious. Hippy artist? Cute but too vulnerable. Instead, Emme obsesses over the portrait of an unknown man in an old locket. Granted, a seriously dreamy guy with delicious, wind-swept hair she just itches to run her fingers through. But still. Dead men may be great listeners, but they are not exactly boyfriend material. Emme travels to England, determined to uncover his history and conquer the strong connection she feels.

In 1812, James Knight has given up finding the right woman. All he wants is someone to share his love of adventure. Instead, his life has become a Shakespearean drama. His brother languishes in a tragic star-crossed romance. His beloved sister clings to life, slowly dying of consumption. But then he finds a beautiful mystery woman, dripping wet and half-dead, beneath a tree on his estate. Now if he can uncover her history, perhaps adventure—and romance—will find him at last.

Regency is not a period I normally would read in fiction but I do like time travel novels and bought this one because I had just finished Nicole van's brilliant Maldetti series and I figured that anything written by such a talented author would be a good read and his right I was.
The characters are real!y engaging and one is drawn into the story straight away. Have just downloaded the next three books and can't wait to read them. Highly recommended

Did not think I was particularly fond of time-Travel romances, but I found I really enjoyed this book. I prefer not to give too much of the story away, but I was rather pleased with how the author dealt with that aspect.

I initially found the main female character a little frustrating with her inability to grasp that she was 200 in the past, but I guess I would find it equally hard to accept.

Overall when I finished reading the book, I was disappointed that I didn’t have the next book! However it is a 5 book series and was delighted I could jump immediately from book 1 to books 4 and 5, because I did have those! Each book is a stand-alone book - so I happily read and enjoyed the others - but if you enjoy book 1, and can read in order, then I think you would be pleased.

I do plan on buying books 2 and 3, so am more than happy to recommend this book/series.

This was a good book! Entertaining and well written. But... The heroine was British/American, and it seems the British part was just so she could do a convincing British accent. Everything was soooo American. It was a bit annoying, especially certain weather events which just don't happen in England.

I love time travel books but struggle to find ones that are clean and well written without gaping holes or improbable situations. This book hits all the right boxes for me! I have read it (and the other books in the series) 3 times within the last month. Funny, sexual tension without anything improper, great writing, fantastic storyline, relatable characters with normal flaws. I love it! This is one that I look forward to sharing with my daughter when she grows up (aka is old enough to enjoy a good romance. Because it is clean I am fine with her reading it much younger then I would with many other romance books)

This is a brilliant book, I loved reading it. It had adventure, love and hilarity throughout. There were so many parts in which I actually laughed out loud. I fell in love with all the characters. Can't wait to read the next in the series.

If you enjoy books written with a good sense of human, have adventure, mishap and love, then I would totally recommend this book is for you.

1.0 out of 5 stars Anacronismos para regalar
Reviewed in Spain on 16 September 2017

I can only say how I’m happy of my discovery.
Thanks to the many books editor newsletters, without them, I’m sure i will miss many more pearls in the writing world, I’m just sorry days have only 24hours, I can only one or two books during a full earth revolution.
I just finished Intertwine, and I have already lined Divide as next to read in my kindle.
So yes, it is what is called in English clean romance, I can’t think for a name in French words.
But this story is so much more than a romance, it is a mystery about love through time, between magic and paranormal.
Emme is a perfect modern woman, smart, cultivated, able to stand for her, but unable to find love and now obsessed by than portrait of a man who lived two hundred years before her.
James is the heir of his family estate, but he misses of something, he feels out of his place, but how a man in 1812 can follow his dreams when he has his ill sister at charge plus his people.
Until he finds an injured woman during a storm suffering from amnesia.
I m’m no history’s specialist but I adored how this period of time was presented, the interactions between Emme and the Regency characters, her internal dialogues and discussions with James.
Emme is a so strong woman, very adaptable she can pass as woman born in the nineteenth century but also able to defend herself.
James is so much open minded than most of the men of his time, ready to accept and marry a woman who could have been a courtesan if it means live with her forever.
A wonderful story of hope, hope that your soulmate is somewhere there in space or time.

With already 220 reviews (over 90% favorable - 68% 5 stars and 23 % 4 stars), I'm not sure what I can add worth reading that hasn't already been said. I knew nothing about the author Nichole Van or this book until I did a Time Travel subject search on my local library website. Among the more interesting time travel books was this time travel romance story. Although I've enjoyed some romance books (mainly Debbie Macomber) the past few years, I wasn't sure about a TIME TRAVEL romance. But the price was right - free borrow from the library - and I was soon able to pick up my hold from the library. My wife soon discovered this was a special story at the same time as I did - she couldn't avoid hearing my loud belly laughs while reading some of the scenes. I immediately ordered the book from Amazon before I even finished the library copy. The story had everything that I enjoy in a book - characters I can like, care for, and root for. Add some of my fave fiction qualities - time travel, amnesia, and humor ... making this one of my fave books in years. I've now read it a total of four times in just a few months and quickly order and read (four times each also) the next two books in the series DIVINE and CLANDESTINE, which I'll review later. Although there is no recent information available on the planned 4th (and last) book of the House of Oak series - REFINE - I do hope Nichole is able to work out a story involving Jasmine and (the so far very unsympathetic character Lord Linwood) just as wonderful as the first 3 books - although it's hard to imagine ANY WRITER being able to pull that off. But - based on the first 3 books - I think Nichole has a fighting chance of writing yet another winner. I wouldn't bet against her!! Thank you, Nichole, for sharing your story, humor, and characters I can care about in your first three stories - but especially thank you for this first book of the series!! Jasmine and Lord Linwood ... WHAT A CONCEPT!!!
