Return: The Evolution Trilogy Kindle Edition

4.3 out of 5 stars 66 ratings

Steven Thorn and Caitlin Chance are meant to be together. At least, when they first fell in love it seemed inevitable. But love is sometimes not enough. It makes them act irrationally, it tests family loyalties, breaks and makes friendships, and causes physical and mental pain. Yet, without love, Steven and Caitlin are lost. As they return to the community and discover the possibilities open to them, all is not what they hoped. Steven has impacted the lives of many since he was discovered, and the choices he made have led to events beyond anyone’s control. Love brought Steven and Caitlin together and fate is playing with their emotions, constantly undermining their willpower and determination. In the game of love, destiny is always the winner.

As continued from COMPLICATIONS, Vanessa Wester takes you back to the Amazon as Steven and Caitlin return to the community and try to figure out their future. Finally, you will discover the next steps for the community, its inhabitants, and humanity.

“The Evolution trilogy was so much fun to read! All the components of a good series are there and I found myself thinking about the characters constantly. For me that is the sign of a good book - I can’t get the characters out of my head, they come to work and the gym with me and I try to figure out what will happen next. I fell in love with Caitlin and Steven, the main characters in Hybrid, joined in on their adventures in Complications, and was rewarded with a finale that tied up all of the details and loose ends in Return book 3. There are a lot of twists and turns in Return as Caitlin and Steven learn to deal with some very tragic news and come to terms with what they have become - and will forever be. They go back to the safety of the home in the Amazon shared by the others like them. They are not welcomed by all however, and are kept in confinement and hidden for their safety. Slowly, Caitlin’s charms start to win over the sceptics. She also finds out that she has something very important to offer the community and learns a lot about herself along the way. A very satisfying ending! I highly recommend this trilogy.” Susan

“A great set of books. A must read for all. Imaginative story somehow believable. I would like to visit the community myself.” Lovely Lane

*~RETURN has some scenes of an adult nature. It may be considered unsuitable for younger readers~*

***** You can also find out more about Steven’s mother in the prequel, EMILY.
“Emily is one of the main supporting characters in The Evolution Trilogy which is one of the few trilogies that I can truly say I couldn’t wait to finish and hated finishing all at once. I knew I wanted the entire trilogy by the time I wasn’t even half way through book one, Hybrid… The entire series, including this novella, the realistic and relate-able characters, the rich environments and the variety of real life scenarios interwoven with the outrageous and the paranormal made these books a series on my LOVE to read list that I will always support and recommend to others. Without adding spoilers, this prequel novella can work as a stand-alone read, or in addition to the trilogy and you understand Emily so much better and why her actions and attitude seem to change with a “whim”. What would you do if a change beyond your control took everything away from you and then you were taken away from everything you knew and loved? No one knows until they are in that situation. After years Emily is finally allowed to return to the place she loved, but so much time has passed and so many things have changed that it’s all new… The story is heart wrenching and beautiful all at once. Another solid story from the amazing mind of Vanessa Wester!” My Book Fairy

Vanessa Wester’s main published work is ‘THE EVOLUTION TRILOGY’, which is comprised of HYBRID, her debut novel, followed by COMPLICATIONS and RETURN. The prequel to the trilogy, EMILY, is also available. This collection of paranormal romance novels takes the reader from Southampton, U.K., to the Amazon, Brazil, in a tale of twisted chance and consequence.

In addition, she has written a novelette called FIRST DATE, which is based on her true story. She has also published, and included stories in, six anthologies to raise money for fantastic causes.

Vanessa also painstakingly put together a collection of original diary entries and letters of her Beanland ancestors in the book, JOURNEY TO GIBRALTAR. The letters were sent to and from locations such as Lancashire, Jamaica and eventually Gibraltar. It gives the reader an idea of what life was like around 1870, and the everyday occurrences of Gibraltar back then, and was published to commemorate 150 years of BEANLAND ancestors on the famous rock.

Writing is one of her passions, reading the other. The day she decided to start writing her ideas down she found another way to lose herself in a book, whilst finding an outlet for her imagination. It is the best way she can think of to escape from everyday life.

I must admit I thought I had already reviewed this book maybe it was my imagination!
I have been waiting for this for ages!! and I am pleased to say it was well worth the wait. I have given it 5 stars which is one more than the other 2 in the series, because in my opinion it is better than the other 2, but not by much, the other 2 only missed out on 5 stars because they were not my first choice pick up. This one I read before others from my usual genre
However, back to the review, I went off Stephen in the previous book but in this book he redeems himself and Caitlin is a silly girl!! As for some of the other members of the Community, well they should be ashamed of themselves!!
I found I had to concentrate harder to follow it all in this book, but that is no bad thing
Anyway enough of my waffling, a thoroughly good read but read the other 2 in the trilogy before this one. It can be read as a stand alone book but only just!
And a message to the author, Please can we have a 4th you have left it open for that.

I was looking forward to reading this book having enjoyed the first two. However, I was a little dissapointed. The book lacked pace with a more romatic storyline. I was left wanting more answers.

Return continues the story of Stephen who is a "Hybrid" vampire and the continuing struggle to cope with his situation. The story is brought to a conclusion but for me it leaves the door open for further stories. I for one hope that this is the case. The writing has developed from the opening book of the trilogy and is clear and concise so that once started I found I had to keep reading until it's conclusion. I fully recommend this whole series to everyone.

Return is a wonderfully readable book that kept me thrilled to the very end. This third book in the trilogy takes the reader to the conclusion of this fabulous tale. I loved the characters and found their lives interesting as every human emotion is explored as the story reaches its end.
This set of books is a wonderful read for those looking for something a little different; ordinary characters set in an extraordinary world.

Yes. The conclusion to this trilogy was so good. I never expected the turn of events. I'm glad Caitlin found her way. Sometimes, you need that space to realise what you had all along was the real deal. Loved the story and wish I could have read more about their reunion.

Usually the second book in a trilogy is the least exciting but not Hybrid! The story got really exciting and interesting and I couldn't wait to get my teeth into the third installment.

Cant wait for more of these books. You get so involved with the story line, and a bit amorous. Vanessa is a very good writer. A must read.

The author presented a very unique and interesting twist on "vampires", though not called that in the book. At face value, I enjoyed the final book, however it felt as though several topics/subplots were "dangled" in front of the reader, but they were never fully developed. While some of the "whys" or "hows" were broadly answered, there were plenty of unanswered questions left. The book just suddenly tied up a few loose ends and was over. It left a lot of interesting twists on the table.

5.0 out of 5 stars I WANT MORE!
Reviewed in the United States on 21 May 2015
What a great trilogy. My only problem is I want to know more. I hope Author, Vanessa Wester will continue the series with stories about what happened to everyone. There were so many subplots that would turn into stories worth reading.

This trilogy was primarily a love story. It fully engaged my emotions. I am happy for some of the main characters and sad for others. Depending on how you see things it could be a beautiful ending or a tragic ending. I know I would like to live in the community created by Ms. Wester.

If you like love stories, you will love this book, but beware, it may make you cry and laugh out loud. It really brings home the human nature in all of us. It has a wonderful balance of action, adventure, mystery, suspense and romance. I loved the trilogy and am glad I decided to read it.

If you like a good story, this is it. I can recommend this to young adults, adults and seniors. Happy reading.

KUDOS Ms Wester on a tale well told.
