- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 31 December 2014I really liked this book it contains a huge selection of recipes so I think it would be difficult to not find something you like, I've been vegetarian for nearly 30 years now and like the author my house is split, two vegetarians and two meat eaters so I tend to make a vegetarian dish plus meat in some form to keep everyone happy, after reading this book I can see how I've narrowed down the dishes I make, you know what it's like I have my favourite dishes like everyone else and I tend to repeat them. For example I make a lot of soups, they're easy to make and freeze well but I tend to stick with my favourites, think I'll try some different ones the 'Broccoli and Potato Soup' sounds good along with the 'Cauliflower' and the 'Roasted Red Pepper' well so many of the soups look good, as you've gathered I love soup.
Another interesting dish is the 'Feta baked in foil' I've never even considered doing this but I'll be giving it a go, would go well with a nice salad I think.
Like I said earlier there's a lot of choice, 100 recipes and as well as covering meals there's also some skincare recipes in the back.
Two things I didn't like, firstly there's no pictures, at all and I like to see a picture of what the meal should look like. Secondly, and this is just my opinion but I don't think the picture on the cover does the book any favours, it certainly doesn't appeal to me. So even though I like a lot of the recipes and will be giving them a try it's not really working for me without any pictures inside.
Another thing which didn't bother me but I thought I'd mention it, there's no calories or nutritional information.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 19 January 2015Lovely book... lots of information on the uses of vegetables.. not just for food but for other uses too!
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 31 March 2015I could so easily go vegetarian and this book is really really good.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 5 January 2015We are not vegetarian but I wanted inspiration so that we could cut down on the amount of meat we eat. Sorry but there is no way I could serve these dishes to my husband. I expected there to be at least a few recipes using Quorn or soya. After the first few pages I began to wonder why the book wasn't simply called 1001 ways with quinoa.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 16 January 2015Very basic. Could definitely work most of these recipes out for yourself.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 22 March 2015Some very useful receipes

4.0 out of 5 stars Prima Mischung

5.0 out of 5 stars Usable, tasty, healthy. What more can you ask?
It's a refreshing change to find a cookbook which doesn't disappoint! I am new to the vegetarian lifestyle. I have purchased several cookbooks which turned out to be 50% lecture, persuasive argument or factoid. I am visually impaired, and have been frustrated by this inclination. This cookbook is just what a seasoned cook, looking to branch out, needs. Beginning cooks could also use this with ease.
From the well written (brief) intro, I have been nothing but happy with this book! The recipes fit right into my kitchen, availability of ingredients and need to cook for non-vegetarian family members without making two separate meals.
The emphasis on actually health recipes is refreshing as I don't eat sugar.
This is undoubtedly be a great resource for beginner and seasoned vegetarian alike. Recipes are well written and have great range. Kudos to the author!

4.0 out of 5 stars Lots of quinoa recipes in here
This cookbook has basic vegetarian (not vegan) recipes. Some are Russian-influenced and I recognized more than a few that my grandmother, who came from Kiev, might have made herself. Beet and potato soup, cold cucumber soup with yogurt, and some mushroom dishes as well as the classic Salade Russe are in this book, though they aren't billed as Russian. However, many of the chapters start with recipes for quinoa, the high protein "superfood" from South America that cooks up like a fluffy grain and is gluten free. If you like quinoa, this book has some great ideas for ways to use it.
This book has good soup recipes, so I'm happy just to have those new additions to my recipe book (ie, the Kindle.) If you don't like feta cheese or yogurt, and you want vegan recipes, this book is probably not for you. No recipe is very elaborate and none use anything you can't find in the average American grocery store.
