Josh and Hannah (Redwood Falls Book 1) Kindle Edition

4.3 out of 5 stars 923 ratings

New Adult 92K words / suitable for 18+ AN ALPHA-MALE IN THE MAKING Josh Turner wants Hannah more than life itself. She's perfect and new . . . but she's a McIntyre. She's from the richest family in the county, and he's a Turner, from the wrong side of the proverbial tracks. And to make matters worse, there's no love lost between their families. EXCERPT: Hannah tried to stay away from the fence that separated the McIntyre and Turner lands. But every afternoon, she took the four-wheeler and drove the fence line. She did this for days and never saw anyone. And then on Friday, she hit pay dirt. Josh was working twenty feet over the fence line. He glanced up and nerves tightened in her belly as he approached. He stood on the opposite side of the barbed wire, his eyes running over her. His words were short. “I’m thinking this can’t be a coincidence, princess.” She stayed silent too long as she tried to think of a response that wouldn’t completely humiliate her and he remonstrated, “I kind of had the idea I’d already made myself plain. Maybe you didn’t understand?” His words were low and she heard the controlled anger. “I’m sorry,” she apologized. Josh stared at her, and then in a rush of movement, his booted foot stepped on the second rung of barbed-wire and forced it down as he simultaneously pulled up the third rung, and that easily, in a move that ranchers had been using for decades, he bent down and slid unscathed through the treacherous wire. He pulled his gloves off, cut the engine and stood over her. He was so close she could smell the delicious aroma from the sweat that drenched his shirt. Her eyes started to slip closed in an agony of arousal. They flew open when his fingers landed on her chin. His nostrils flared. “Hannah baby, we have to get this straight between us. Maybe I should have spelled it out better. I've told you about my father. He’s always drunk. He’s in and out of jail--all the time. The sheriff watches me like a hawk because he thinks I’m just like him.” He caressed her gently in direct contrast to the fierceness of his voice. “Now what do you think the sheriff would do if I suddenly took up with the fifteen-year-old town princess?” He gave her a moment to digest his words. “You need to stay away from me. Don’t make this harder on me than it already is. You don’t know what it’s doing to me--knowing I can have you, but I can’t.” His fingers became caressing. “You understand?” His eyes tangled with hers until an agonized look crossed his features and he bit out, “Repeat after me, princess. Josh wants me.” Shock hit her system and she gasped. His fingers slipped into her hair. “I’m serious. Repeat it. Josh wants me.” “Josh, please—“ “Now!” he barked and she jumped. “Josh w-wants me.” “Josh wants me so bad his guts are tied in knots of constant pain,” he pounded the words. His eyes seared into hers and she tried to answer. “Josh wants me s-so bad--" It was impossible and her words died. His fingers twisted through her hair. He continued to punch out his words in third person. “He thinks about me constantly.” His gaze ran over her lips. “He lives from one hour to the next for the day he can sink into me.” Hannah was lacerated by his words. At the same time, pleasure infiltrated her system. He was telling her the truth. He continued in a biting tone, “But I don’t want Josh to go to prison.” She trembled. “Say it,” he bit out. A single tear escaped. “Say it,” he growled, even as his thumb shot out and wiped it away. Hannah took a breath. “I d-don’t want Josh to go to p-prison.” His hands lifted and he took a step back. “Good girl," he praised. "Do us both a favor and remember that the next time you come looking for me. Repeat it to yourself if it helps. I’m serious, Hannah. You may feel grown-up, you may even know what you want, but the State of Texas doesn’t agree with you.” His tone softened. “You have to have mercy on me, princess. There’s only so much I can tak

*****Ethan and Ava***Book Four of the Redwood Falls series*** March 12th, 2019***

Lynda Chance is the author of the New York Times bestseller, 'The Mistress Mistake'. Her other works include the USA Today bestselling 'Sarah's Surrender', and 'The House of Rule' series. Lynda began writing when she couldn't find an alpha-male hero who was alpha enough to suit her and decided to write one for herself. She began with 'Seduced by the American Millionaire' and hasn't looked back since. Over time, her writing has grown and evolved both from practice and from listening to her reader's requests. Lynda writes contemporaries, historicals, Adult and New Adult novels, novellas and short-stories all with a common theme: Each has an alpha-male hero who crashes to his knees in lust and love when he finally meets his heroine. You can be sure in a Lynda Chance story, the hero will never cheat.

Lynda lives in Galveston County, Texas with her husband of a whole bunch of years in a tiny bay cottage with sketchy plumbing and beautiful views. They have two grown children who live in the Dallas area. Happily content in her home state of Texas, Lynda can usually be found with her e-reader or laptop computer.

Lynda loves hearing from readers and answering questions about her characters. She can be reached right here on her Amazon Forum pages, on Facebook or at:

Redwood Falls home town to Josh Turner and Hannah McIntyre the couple at the heart of this story. The first time Josh notices Hannah she's fifteen years old, he's older than her. Right from their very first moment something passes between them that ties them together. But there's bad feeling between the Turners and McIntyre family. Due to Josh's father.

The story takes the reader on a journey with Josh and Hannah, from the very beginning to its ultimate and satisfying end. There are many twists and turns along the way, that involve their friends and families. With never a dull moment the story moves forward at a steady and well balanced pace. The characters are all fully fleshed out, not just the two leads. With a few sub plots that add further interest make this a must read. But of course the stars of the show Josh and Hannah are the real crowd pleasers here. I loved how Josh changes from the possessive boy, into the fully fledged alpha male that this author is famous for. Hannah is just a sweet and kind girl, who was very sympathetically written. This is IMO the most truely romantic story this author has ever written. I loved it.
A wonderful longer length story from Lynda Chance who is one of my all time favourites. I look forward to the next book in the series.

I thought Josh's character was well written, he had possession and anger issues but as a fiery teenager with a disadvantaged past, he mostly kept them under control.
I thought the story was going to be centered around forbidden love (more Heathcliff and Cathy) rather than the initial restrained passion so it was less of a tear jerker and more of a complete relationship than I imagined.
Definitely a book for adult readers as it gets a bit steamy in there, despite all the innocence of the first part.
I have to say the ending was all very neat and a bit sickly and I wonder how, (knowing what we know) the Zach and Katie story will work?

I think LC is one of the best character building writers out there, I've read all of her books apart from the historical ones and every one has been fresh and unputdownable. Her Alphas eat other alphas for breakfast - they really do, and Josh is a young Alpha in the making. Josh and Hannah make you relive every one of your first sexual awakenings again beautifully and carefully, although if I had a Josh my heart would still be flipping at every growl or show of dominance.

The story follows the small town of Redwood Falls and the inhabitants, Josh's family land borders Hannah's. At practice 18yr old Josh becomes aware of 15yr old Hannah and they both instantly recognise something very powerful between them. Hannah is completely smitten and hell bent on getting Josh, he resists, trying to break his Father's loser tradition and do the right thing. There are interwoven stories of Josh's cousin Katie and Hannah's married brother Zachary, and also their best friends as they all start to become young loving adults.

It's absolutely brilliant, this is drawn from very personal memories from Lynda Chance and you can tell. This is a story about characters she obviously loves and understands. Can't wait for Katie and Zachary's story.

Loved, loved, loved this book. Josh is HOT and intense. Hannah is so sweet but by no means a walk over. A sweet story about life long love and the hurdles this couple must face to be together. For me it was refreshing to read a book where there wasnt an ex or wannabe in the background causing problems. Josh is very alpha (maybe a little to much) but omg i really wouldnt push him away either LOL. I could not put this book down even though it hasnt got huge cling to your seat scenes or a 'villain' hell bent on destroying something there is a good story line to keep you hooked and even passion and angst to keep your heart hammering. The only thing that i wasnt keen on was the age of the leads (sorry just my preference) but if you can over look that, this is 1 hell of a book for you collection.

I am a avid fan of this author and have all her books. I've always said that "no one does Alpha men like Lynda Chance" and I stand by this, except for this one. I am not a fan of YA or the new "NA", I am an adult and want a adult book and this book definitely sits in the NA gender. Ms Chance books are not normally long and I always wish for more, this book was much longer and I didn't feel it was necessary, in my opinion their was a lot of "padding out" which didn't enhance the storyline and the ending was very abrupt. Now for the good points, though their was a lot less sex than her previous books, the sexual tension sizzled. Though so very young (teenagers throughout most of the book), he showed major Alpha tendencies, with statements like "you're mine, every sweet inch of you", "kiss me back" he demanded, "give me your tongue" to name but a few. Hannah was the rich, good girl until it came to Josh, she came across as very sweet, trying to fit in and understand her emotions she felt for Josh, sexual smouldering heat surrounding her and kept being told "you are too young", when was she going to be old enough? So in summing up, overall the book was good but not fantastic, as I have come to expect from MS Chance, would I re read no, would I buy more books from this author? Most definitely.

What a sweet, sweet story! Absolutely loved Josh. He was the such a sweetheart. That boy loved Hannah from the moment he laid eyes on her when she was 15 and he never changed his mind. This story begins when Hannah is a sophomore and Josh is a senior. He makes his intentions known but won't start officially seeing or dating Hannah until she is 16, and even then he is a gentlemen. Josh grew up hard. His dad was abusive and had a bad reputation in their small town. Josh was careful not to mess up and after going to live with his aunt and uncle, he knew he would make something of himself and not be like his dad. Hannah was the rich girl in town and he didn't want anyone to think he was being disrespectful or taking advantage of her. I loved their friends and can't wait to read the stories about Ava and Ethan and also hopefully Katie and Zach. I'd also like to see one about Ty, Ava' s brother.

The book ran smoothly. No cliffhanger and we also got both POV' s from the lead characters. You fell in love with Josh right along with Hannah. Seriously such a great male lead character. Protective, honest, devoted, loyal and hot on top of that. Hannah was a very lovable and likeable character too and they fit perfectly together.

    Great story I highly recommend.

I really liked the storyline, though I was a little bit hesitant about the young age of Hannah at the beginning. But it was a great read about first and true love! Admittedly, Josh sometimes scared me a little with his possessive attitude, demanding complete surrender from Hannah, but I could also understand where he came from and why Hannah was so obedient, almost submissive. They were young and in love - and I was there. Totally! Most things in this book were predictable, but I didn't care, because I was always on edge while reading it. The story just kept going and going without needless drama and held me under the spell.

Lynda Chance made me late for work this morning, because I absolutely had to finish the book before leaving the house. That's how good it was.

Usually I don't care about follow-ups with the stories of side characters. However, I can't wait for Katie's story now!
