Alicia to the Power of Three Kindle Edition

4.0 out of 5 stars 25 ratings

What if your daughter would suddenly stop speaking, communicating with you and the world? Read this very mysterious story to try and discover what is wrong with Alicia! You will enjoy a plot full of suspense from the very first page through to the very last words of the very last page!

This book is written in a unique style that will put you at the heart of the action of this moving and intriguing story.

Will Alicia start to speak again?

This story could have been published by major French publisher 'Le Dilettante' which acclaimed the "intriguing and gripping" story line. However they criticized the unusual writing style stating that it would not appeal to the readers! The author is really thrilled to see that the vast majority of his readers are proving him right to persevere with his refreshing style, as the very positive customer reviews on amazon.co.uk demonstrate:

INTRIGUING STYLE FROM A DARING NEW WRITER! As a fan of quirky and original storylines, Adriano’s style doesn't disappoint. Grabbing the reader from the start with a need to know Alicia’s secret. A fresh approach to combat some of today’s mundane offerings. An author to watch!

OUTSTANDING! Exciting, unsettling, and technically brilliant. He provides just that right of semi-realistic data...,,,, to soothe the reader into a mood of acceptance, and his poker face attitude towards the strange and improbable events which records is also exactly calculated.
I love this book as it is humane and urbane with a lightly sophisticated wit putting the ideas into shape. As I said: outstanding!

POWERFUL PSYCHOLOGICAL THRILLER! Alicia is lonely and isolated; her story is told through an interior monologue that draws you in. In the form of 'Alicia' the writer creates a powerful and convincing portrait of an emotionally and mentally disturbed child. Devils and Demons are constantly lurking in the background. Alicia's ethereal reality coupled with a steady dose of black humour means that this book is a must read that is difficult to put down.

A THOUGHT PROVOKING READ! When I first started reading this, I wasn't sure what to expect from the opening, but found myself quickly becoming absorbed. I was surprised by the turn of events as the story progressed and at times found them a little disturbing, but this made the book all the more intriguing. As I became drawn into Alicia's world, I wanted to find out more and wished the book was longer; definitely one to read.

GREAT BOOK! The author has got a very different writing style to what I'm used to reading which makes this book extra special. The story itself is well written and had me drawn into it from the word go and was hard to put down! Looking forward to what happens next!

ORIGINAL AND FULL OF IMAGINATION! I found this book very intriguing and unique. One minute you think the mistery is solved the next all changes again. I Will keep an eye open for this author in the future: what will he write next?

DIFFERENT AND GRIPPING! I really felt for Alicia. She just wanted her parents to love her but in trying to get their attention her life went from bad to worse. Adriano has an unusual style of writing, which, once you get used to it (only took me a couple of pages to get used to) you'll be gripped by Alicia's story. I really liked it and it was a real page turner.

Let yourself be surprised! Enter Alicia's third dimension and make your own opinion about this psychological thriller with a difference!

The author is very keen to receive more feedback from his readers outside the UK. So if you too have liked the book, please review it on your amazon website. For the non UK readers who would like to know more about the author himself or read more reviews, please go onto amazon.co.uk.

The book is also available in its French version ('Alicia Puissance Trois') on Kindle amazon worldwide.

Adriano Justin Capuano was born in the Paris area in the mid-seventies of a French mother and an Italian father. After graduating in English Literature and American Civilization at the Sorbonne University of Paris he went to settle happily in the south of England, where he met his English wife. He has been living there for the last fifteen years. Cinema being one of his passions, he spent a lot of his time, as a young adult, in the art houses in Paris, which has left some footprints in his very visual and dynamic writing style.

The author has just released a humour book on the French language 'In France we eat sofas!' ('En France on mange des sofas!' as a French version) illustrating the great sense of humour of the French language! The French language like you've never been taught at school! Both versions are available in paperback or Kindle.

Following this successful adventure, he has just published a special edition 'In France we eat sofas! Bumper edition' ('En France on mange des sofas! Bumper edition' as a French version) containing an extra amount of hilarious phrases and a picture quiz for an even more fun experience!

His next move: to apply the same successful recipe to the Spanish language and have a go at its sense of humour!

The author has already released two adapted versions to teach the English funniest expressions to the French public and other readers in the world called 'Drunk like a fish!' and 'You can't polish a turd!' ('On ne peut pas polir une crotte!' for the French readers), which are proving to be very popular too.

His very moving and intriguing novel 'Alicia to the Power of Three' ('Alicia Puissance Trois' in its French version) is now also available as paperback or kindle on all amazon websites.

In the long term, he is also busy writing a book called 'The Disunited Kingdom' which will share a major theme with 'Alicia to the Power of Three' but with a different genre and story.

I agree with many of the comments made in previous reviews. I am in two minds about this book - its certainly not the sort of book I usually read but was intrigued enough to try something new. It took me a while to get used to the narrative style since I prefer books with descriptive background detail as opposed to first person narrative only. At times I found the language used a little strange but once I became used to the unusual style of writing I found the book hard to put down and managed to read it in two sessions. The story is interesting, fascinating, mysterious and thought provoking leaving the reader wondering what happens next. It is definitely worth reading.

I didn't understnd the end. Didn't enjoy reading it. Very negative portrait of the main character. I did like the style though.

I am in two minds about this book. At times I found the language used a bit odd and I personally am not a fan of the exclusively first-person narrative, as this arguably means that a story can not be built up with the kind of detail it might otherwise benefit from.
Having said, it is without doubt a fascinating story that the author tells and I enjoyed the several captivating twists it offered. Definitely worth a read!

From page 1, you want to know what happens next. Adriano shows brilliance defining each character through the way the speak: the quirkiness of some, the malice of others. Especially inspired those nicknames that the main character shoots at the people around her.

Certainly a challenging read, but also a rewarding one. Adriano clearly has a vested interest in the human psyche and in this novella strives to scrutinise and dissect what may be going on in everyone's head!

Alicia is a misunderstood child who chooses not to respond to the constraints that her parents try to put onto her and the narrative takes many twists as it dives into the interior of her mind and tries to identify the inner turmoil occuring in Alicia's head.

I found the pace at times exhausting and the heavy reliance on exclamation to show emotion/excitement may make some readers think they are being shouted at throughout the few hours it will take to read it. However, it is a stalwart attempt ( if not a difficult one), whose reward is in its challenge.

I could not really understand this writing style. I kept thinking, is she talking to herself, or another person, or perhaps one of her trolls? Also, I'm not sure this story qualifies as a mystery as there did not seem to be anything mysterious about it--that is unless I missed something.
