ARISEN, Book Four - Maximum Violence: (The Special Ops Military Apocalypse Epic) Kindle Edition
More than 1.5 million ARISEN books sold, with a 4.7/5.0-★ average on over 100,000 reviews...
In Canterbury, as the virus rages out of control, one troop of Royal Marine Commandos fights a 360-degree battle for survival, while also racing to rescue the Channel Tunnel survivors from a relentless siege – all before Hellfire missile strikes and carpet bombing kill anyone left alive. Across the Atlantic, the crew of the USS John F. Kennedy risks a catastrophic reactor meltdown to get out of the path of a ten-mile-wide tide of the dead; while, onshore at the Naval Air Base, Wesley's tiny team maintains a lonely vigil – which turns horrifyingly dangerous as the edge of the storm hits, pushing desperate civilians ahead of it. In the air above, Master Gunnery Sergeant Fick leads a hand-picked fire-team of spec-ops Marines halfway across North America to take and defend an airfield on a remote island – but learns to his cost that it is a place with a terrible history, and very dangerous secrets. Finally, out on Lake Michigan, Alpha team races toward extraction... but first must fight their most harrowing battle yet – this time against the living, who are both more treacherous and a hell of a lot better armed than the dead.
Who will be left standing at the end? Find out – if your heart can take the strain – in the biggest and most explosive ARISEN book yet.

- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 19 June 2013Arisen 4 has met all my expectations.
Enthralling from the first written word to the very last. It is a great follow up to the other Arisen books and now I am left on a cliff edge waiting for Arisen 5. All the scenes were written so clearly I was 'in them' right throughout the book. I tried not to read it too quickly because it was so enjoyable I wanted to savour every word. The twists and turns are thrilling and the 'army experience' shines through. The technical knowledge is great and a lot of research must have gone into the writing of this book. The two authors compliment each other so well. Congratulations to them both for another exciting, exhilarating, surprising zombie experience. Long may you keep on writing.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 23 January 2014I love this series of book, have read them all now up to book 5 and I have to say one of the best Zombie - end of the world books I have ever read. So believable! - If you dont read anything else read this series of books. War against the Zombies. When is it going to be televised and when can we expect book 6 - it is eagerly awaited!
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 16 September 2013I start my review having read the first three books and completed the fourth. These are good well written books. However if I need a gripe (and I do) it's that just how much bad luck and stupid decisions can these characters make? Talk about dumb! There they are extracting humanities last best hope for salvation, you would think that military types would be highly focused on the task and yet off they go on dumb little side adventures, which I found distracted from the main story and were padding at best. Now you may say that it adds a bit of flavour to the general apocalyptic feel, showing how other survivors have coped or not (in the case of some). I simply found it unnecessary (the pirate scene), feeling like it had been inserted from a play book on how to write action novels! It also annoys me to read pages on a character to have them promptly drop dead, again I can appreciate some logic here, but why? What's the point, they have nothing to contribute apart from being dead!
These are small beans though. The books are worth a read and are very well crafted, I will be reading more!
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 3 May 2015Superb book. Well written, scant dodgy grammar & pretty non-existent typos, first class military accuracy and full to the brim with action....which is the theme in books 1, 2 & 3, hence, why I've read book 4 & started book five. I have no idea how book 5 will pan out.....given how book 4 climaxed, it will without a shadow of a doubt test the true skill of these fine authors. Keep them coming lads.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 3 May 2019Having already devoured the first 3 books in the series and the first of the prequels, I couldn't wait to get stuck into this one. If you're a fan of the series you'll know why... the story so far is just incredible.
The disjointed narrative used by these guys is so well applied, you get to the end of one heart pounding chapter only to begin another and by the time you've recovered, you realise you got another !!
The military knowledge again adds to the action and leaves it that you don't miss a beat.
I love how the stories don't just end happy or the way they would in a Hollywood movie, its gritty, its in the dirt and unforgiving ! already tearing though book 5 !
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 21 December 2013Having recently finished book 5, just had to go back to book 1 and start all over again. Have to admit that even reading the series for the second time they lose nothing in terms of thrills, plot and intensity. May the next book come soon as possible!
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 6 November 2014This is certainly full on action, but I think at the expense of good story telling. That's not to say I didn't enjoy it, but I think it is missing something much better.
The Alpha, US Marine and Royal Marine teams luck just doesn't hold - the only thing that didn't happen to them was Godzilla turning up to stomp on them. Every other thing that could go wrong did. I don't think I have read a story where so many rounds get fired and that includes the history of World War 2.
I found that where the storyline veered away from zombies was actually the best parts and I was often frustrated to be sent back to the shredding-dead-corps scenes when I really wanted to follow the mid-lake action.
I am glad we have finally encountered someone who doesn't think and act like Rambo. The far more 'normal' Anderson, although in many ways detestable, reacted exactly how I hope I won't when the ZA finally comes to West Sussex. He does provide some balance, though, to the normal mix of tough guys and hard guys.
I am not as convinced as is Drake that the JFK cannot be locked down even with a serious breech in the hull. Warships are designed with water tight doors throughout. The Zulus have showed no improvement in their hatch opening skills and even if they had, then weld the ones closest to the breech - Duh.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 13 February 2015i have been reading the series of books, i think it is very captivating, each time i finish a book, im straight on to the next, and i find i cant put my kindle down, i hope the writer can keep up with my demand for more, well worth buying....

5.0 out of 5 stars Incredible story of saving the human race from becoming extinct from Zombies
Each book tells the continuing saga of a world upside down where everything has changed due to an infection that turns 7 billion people into raving, human hungry zombies. This goes well beyond the Walking Dead for action as Fortress Britain, the only country left standing, is trying to reset the world to being zombie free.
The missions are many and the action is hot as American and British military conduct missions across the globe trying to find materials and people in a race to stop the extinction of the human race.
There are many characters in this saga and yet the author develops them with depth and reality. The protagonists and the antagonists seem to be so real, as does the action. Reading this saga pulls you in and places you in the middle of the action.
This HAS to be one of the BEST Zombie saga's going !!! Detail, information and realism pervades throughout the 12 books (books 13 & 14 will arrive) and I can't wait !

3.0 out of 5 stars Wegen des Titels 'Maximum Violence'
Mal schauen ...

5.0 out of 5 stars So Much More Than I Had Hoped For!
I found myself looking for a new series or a good single to read. I had read a sample of book 1 and new just by the first few pages that this was going to be a series I wanted to read.
I currently keep up with about 5-6 different series and often like to wait for a few volumes to be printed so that I can really get into the flow and get to know the characters.
I bought Arisen, Book 1 and within two weeks had finished the fourth installment.
Good news is that Book 5 will be ready right around Thanksgiving.
For those who like me, who enjoy reading multi book series, I could not give this series a higher recommendation.
The books are not that long individually, usually somewhere between 125-175 pages, and with the constant action that can leave you sitting at the edge of your seat, it isn't very hard to finish an entire book in one sitting.
One of the things I liked most is that the zombies do not always act in the predictable slow and dimwitted manner that is prevalent in most books. There is nothing wrong with the typical zombie (if there is such a thing) and being hunted by hundreds of the typical zombie is more than enough background for a great book but every once in a while, I enjoy a different version. There are some that only take to the night, some that seem perfectly happy eating their victim down to the bone while some will just have a bite or two in their quest to infect the maximum number of the living.
In this series, you have them all. You have zombies who seem to be evolving from the slow dimwitted but undeterrable to runners then superfast hunters and now seem to be developing some type of hive mentality. The characters are great. You really start getting to know the main protagonist and their supporting casts who all are working toward a common goal. You have the very best of the special ops communities who have somehow managed to survive and find their way to the only nation - Britain - still surviving, although precariously. There are also "ordinary" people who have found extraordinary courage and reserves they never knew existed who step up and do whatever is needed for the common good, even if that includes their own lives.
It would be very easy to lay out too much of the story but I would find it hard to believe that those of us who love this genre would not find Arisen a new challenger for top honors in zombie thrillers. Only one way to know - so do it.
