Wife for Hire Kindle Edition
He needs a wife for three weeks...
Owen Phipps is out for revenge. His mission? To expose the man who stole his sister's money and dignity. All he needs is a "wife" who can play along. Too bad his last best hope is an actress who tries to mace him with perfume when he offers her the role of a lifetime.
Lindy Knight is a real sap. She loves too hard, feels too deep, and often finds herself saying yes when she should be saying "Let me think about it." She can't believe her good fortune when Owen offers her more than enough money to hold off foreclosure until she can find a job. Three weeks at a resort, money she desperately needs, and she gets to help bring a criminal to justice? Score. It seems easy enough until a couples bonding game turns intimate, and they realize how dangerous their mutual attraction could be.
Can they keep their hands to themselves long enough to find the evidence Owen needs? Or are the close quarters more temptation than they can handle?

Christine Bell is the USA Today Bestselling Author of contemporary romance novels. She is also the alter ego of USA Today Bestselling Women's Fiction Author, Christine Gael, and New York Times bestselling Paranormal Romance Author, Chloe Cole.
She and her handsome hubby currently reside in Florida where they play pickleball as often as possible. She doesn't like root beer, clowns or bugs (except ladybugs, on account of their cute outfits), but loves chocolate, going to the movies, the New York Giants and playing Texas Hold 'Em. Writing is her passion, but if she had to pick another occupation, she would be a pirate...or, like, a ninja maybe. She loves writing fun and sexy romances, but writes other stuff so her dad can read her books without wanting to dig his eyes out with rusty spoons.

- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 23 May 2015Very good read. I am looking forward to reading more from this author
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 24 December 2013Whist I'm well acquainted with Christine Bell's more naughty reads, this is the first I've read that is less so although it does have a couple of steamy moments.
Our hero, Owen Phipps, is Irish. Yes I am one of those women who never fails to fall for the Irish charm and he has it in a kind protective way. He needs to hire a wife for three weeks to weasel out the con-man who fleeced his sister and Lindy is the lady. She's a huge softie, hasn't a mean bone in her body and will do anything for anyone. I loved them both and both were realistic and down-to-earth.
It's sexy, romantic and sweet but it's also filled with fun; Christine never fails to inject humour into her books and I found myself laughing on many an occasion. And with moments that tug on the old heartstrings and frustrate, it's a good all round easy-read romance albeit with more sexual tension than actual action.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 10 February 2014He needed a wife for three weeks and she needed money.
The first meeting between the two has comedy moments, but the rest of the book is fairly soft.
Owen's Irish language doesn't feature as much as i thought it would, which is a shame and Lindy showed herself to have a soft gooey center.
The end of the book gave decent closure to the task and with the couple, where we got a decent view of Owen's change of heart and feelings.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 14 February 2015Fantastic read
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 6 November 2012Lindy has decided to live an independent life, no relationships, no complications, just focus on herself and her seven puppies.
Owen a self proclaimed bachelor is determined to bring down the man who conned his sister out of her savings and broke her heart. To expose this conman Owen needs a proxy wife, and Lindy is just the lady for the job.
This story is full of action, mystery and a budding relationship that neither character wishes to admit to. A beautiful story that will keep you hooked to the very end! A great read that will warm your heart!!
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 24 April 2017OMG, I struggled through this thinking it was an ARC from NetGalley only to discover that I paid good money for this pile of crap.
Lindy Knight is a total Mary Sue, she sets up a business delivering bad news to strangers with her brothers and then ends up giving a home to an elderly woman after she announces that her husband wants a divorce. Broke and trying to look after an elderly woman with Alzheimers AND seven puppies she has resorted to looking for jobs on Craigs List.
Owen Phipps' little sister was conned out of her inheritance by a smooth operator and left devastated, he is determined to exact revenge and has discovered that the ex has set up a retreat for married couples. In order to uncover the latest scam he needs a fake wife to accompany him to the retreat.
Lindy is a sap who falls in love at the drop of a hat, Owen looks at the example of his parents and vows never to fall in love. Together they are the worst amateur sleuths on record, probably because they spend most of their time lusting after each other.
We spend the entire book watching Lindy and Owen enter into various couples' activities more suited to a low-brow holiday camp than a retreat for the wealthy and discerning. Then at about 85% of the book my Kindle informed me that I only had four minutes reading time left AND NOTHING HAD BEEN RESOLVED. Then bish-bash-bosh the crucial evidence is produced by a PI, Lindy behaves like a moron TSTL heroine and all is resolved.
Very unsatisfactory all round
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 30 June 2013At first I thought this story would be good. Some parts had me laughing but over all found it a little boring, the other 2 books by this author were better.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good book
I liked the romance and suspense fill of the book. It had a realistic plot that made it easy to read. There were a few laugh out loud moments that were fun too, cannot wait for Cara's story.

5.0 out of 5 stars 5 Hearts for Lindy and Owen.
Please note this review may contain spoilers.
Wife For Hire was an interesting read. The cover looks dark and serious and the blurb also has a bit of a “mystery/thriller” vibe to it. What I was surprised at was the humour involved. You won’t find yourself laughing throughout the entire book, but there are moments of hilarity that will have you laughing out loud and/or shaking your head, all of those moments involving Lindy.
Lindy is a bit of a ditz, but she has a very kind heart and a down to earth personality. She believes in love and wants to see the best in people. She also has trouble saying “No” to people, which is how she meets Owen. She’s in between jobs and is at risk of losing her house to the bank when she answers Owen’s ad on Craigslist. Owen is a wealthy man who will pay $20,000 for a fake wife to help him uncover the scam his half-sister’s ex-boyfriend is currently running. After his sister was robbed of her life savings, Owen is determined to get justice for her and anyone else who may have been conned by the guy. Owen is also a cynic when it comes to love. His father left his mother for another woman and since then he’s refused to give a woman that much power over him. To Owen, Lindy is a breath of fresh air, reminding him that sometimes it’s the simple things in life that are often the best. But he doesn’t do relationships and Lindy doesn’t do casual encounters, so this has emotional disaster written all over it.
I really liked Lindy and Owen. While Owen doesn’t believe in love and ultimately breaks Lindy’s heart when he finds out the depth of her feelings, he’s not a prick as some men are written to be. And Lindy is a beautiful person, often putting other’s needs before her own, but she’s not a total pushover. I liked the background story of trying to uncover the con, but I did think that particular part of the story moved a little slowly until it suddenly came to an end. I enjoyed Wife For Hire so much that I’ve added Guardian For Hire (book # 2) to by TBR list.

4.0 out of 5 stars Lindy Knight and Owen Phipps are getting into some jams - will they be able to get themselves out in one piece?
This is my first book by Christine Bell and it was so good I want to read her next one about Sarabeth and Gavin. This was so much fun and very joyous - Belinda (Lindy) Knight and her "joie de vivre" or I guess you could say her love of life and appreciation for most things and her ability to laugh, have fun, and make the best out of all situations made this a great read. Of course, her new boss, the gorgeous Owen Phipps with his wit and sarcasm helped make this story fantastic as well. I had my doubts going in but was very happily proved incorrect and laughed like crazy at some of the wit and situations. Lindy has been hired by Owen to pretend to be his wife for 3 weeks at a luxurious couples retreat resort (so you can imagine the couples are all very wealthy). Owen's sister, Cara and Nico were a couple for 6 months about a year ago until Nico ran off with about $700,000 of hers. Owen now is out for revenge on Nico but since he is a single man, he needs somebody to play his wife - boy did he luck out when he hired Lindy; however, she lucked out as well as Owen is a very good guy but does not believe in love .......... they get themselves in some tight squeezes trying to dig up evidence that Nico is running some kind of a scam. You know what they say, it is all fun and games until somebody loses an eye! You will not be disappointed when you do the 1-Click for this adventure

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Story. Terrible narration of the hero' voice. UGH!
This was a fun story, but the narration of the hero was horrible! I do not recommend the audible! Its a great read though.
The story line and plot were fun. The heroine, LIndy was just awesome, loved her. She was funny, smart, witty and a strong character. The hero Owen, was very sexy and likable. The chemistry between the two was great. There is a couple of great sex scenes.
There is lots of dialogue throughout the book. A very enjoyable read for sure. It wasn't a really long book so it wasn't full of filler nonsense. I enjoyed the couples retreat lessons. They were fun.
As for the narration. Well, the hero sounds like a high pitched old crone woman with a scottish accent. Absolutely horrendous. At 8% I stopped listening and just read the story.
The rest of her characters sounded fine. How can you think making the hero sound like this will make for a good listen? How anybody gave this narration more than 1 star is amazing to me. You ruin a book when the Hero or Heroine sound so bad.
Yeah I will be steering clear of Carly Robbins for sure! Sorry but I can't take a chance on wasting my money on an audible book if this is how she does her male voices.
