I got this book as a free read from amazon and I am so glad that I did. It was a great book and a nice easy read.

Mia is a 17 year old girl who lives with her mother, her step father and her two year old little sister. She is a normal girl who goes to high school, works part time and really likes her friend Greyson, who works with her and goes to school with her. Mia sometimes thinks that Grey feels the same way as her, but he never acts on it so she is happy just being friends.

She is finding herself having strange dreams all of a sudden and has an admirer at school who keeps asking her out, but she doesn't accept. She goes about her life at school and work like a normal teenage girl until one day she has a car accident and her life changes forever.

The characters in the book are nice, and totally believable, she plot is great and the information is disclosed slowly throughout. It was a great ending and leaves it nicely at the end so that it makes you want to pick up the second book in the series.

A nice easy read for adults and young adults a like. I look forward to reading more from this author.

I purchased this book as it was only 99p and going on holiday i needed some reads to do whilst sun bathing. I enjoyed the book but i found myself skimming some parts where it seemed the author was trying to draw the book out longer. Overall The story line was a good read and i usually don't go for elfin books but it has persuaded me to start. The author describes the characters well and you feel like you know the characters as well as any of your real life friends :)
    Worth reading

This was the first book I have read on my Kindle. It was cheaply priced and yes, it was ok, but that's as far as I would go. A lot of the book that dealt with Lark's thoughts on clothes, food and "hot boys" I found slow and not very interesting. I found myself skipping through these pages. The plot too seemed vague and the actual action was a bit too late to really engage my interest. The continual indecision between the two men she can't choose between became irritating at times as it seemed to assume more importance than the development of the plot even though Lark is only seventeen. The story ended so quickly with so many issues left unexplained I can only presume that there will be a second book. Looking at all the many 5 star reviews I can't help wondering if I missed something somewhere?

This came up on my recommendations and I wasn't disappointed. Although I have read books with a similar concept, I found myself hooked from the first page. The book length is nice and longer than many I have downloaded so I feel it was good value for money. Looking forward to the next book and would recommend this well written first installment.

I really enjoyed this book and found the characters interesting and the pace was good. It did seem very similar storyline to a series I've read by Amanda Hocking, but none the less still a good read.

Came across this book whilst looking for a bedtime read....so pleased I did what a great book. The characters in the book are so easy to love and the story line is so well written. Plus as always there is a love triangle but you never decide who she should be with even at the end. A book for any age as for once there is no cringe worthy love scenes.

Not really my usual fantasy choice, but not read anything on elves so I thought I'd give it a try. And I enjoyed it. Well written and interesting story, and I'd read more on elves again.

Lark takes you on a journey of self discovery. Mia, a normal High School girl, discovers she is the illegitimate daughter of the Light Elf King born to a human mother. After a car accident that should have killed her co-worker, the mysterious Greyson St Clair (who is her "just friends and no more" friend/protector) transports them both to Alfheimr, the home of the Light Elves where she meets her real father and learns of her true self and of the Light and Dark Elves. Trouble ensues and the dashing Jacoby, who at first seems to be a Dark Elf himself, but when he saves Mia she realizes he's not as bad as he seems. Mia, caught between two worlds; Half Elf and Half human, and between two boys, Greyson and Jacoby. She struggles to find the balance and to figure out a way to save her father's kingdom and win the hearts of the Light Elves and show them they she could be worthy of the crown.
This well written, well thought out debut YA novel by Erica Cope sucks you in with a dream Mia has and you can't wait to read more about it and learn who the mysterious voice is behind it all. And why can Greyson be only friends? I love a mystery and Erica keeps you guessing through the whole book as she unravels the world she has so beautifully created. I love all the side comments Mia says in her head, it makes her a real character with real emotions and you can't help but laugh with her the whole way through. Erica creates a supporting cast of characters that only enhance the story.
While I did find this book a little reminiscent of Amanda Hocking's Trylle Trilogy; Lark quickly takes a turn and takes a life of its own you can't help but love. (PS, I loved the Trylle Trilogy so the comparison is a positive one)
All in all, I really loved this book. It was light hearted, fun, and quippy. I'm guessing its part of a trilogy and I'm so looking forward to the next book, but I liked that Lark wrapped up nicely without a major cliffhanger at the end.

3.0 out of 5 stars Achtung Trylle-Fans hier gibts die Trollstory in grün
Reviewed in Germany on 9 June 2015

4.0 out of 5 stars Erica Cope's first novel is definately not a Lark @ all!
Reviewed in the United States on 8 March 2013
I originally purchased this novel because I was searching through the Kindle book store looking for something a little different to read... and the cover art grabbed me.I read the blurb, a few reviews, and decided I would give it a try. I really enjoyed this book, and I didn't put it down except to sleep. If I had started reading a little earlier in the evening I wouldn't have put it down at all. The story and the words flowed well, and made it very easy to read. That isn't always the case with a brand new self-published author. I really liked it! I would recommend it to others who like this genre. I would purchase more books by this author. It was humorous, engaging, intriguing, mysterious. It had suspense, action, romance, and well developed characters. I don't give out too much more than that type of info in a review. If you want more than what is originally stated about the book there are a bunch of reviews that tell you... who, what, where, and when. I just don't want to spoil anything for anyone. I was under the impression that this was a stand alone novel. Even though we weren't left with one of those huge aggravating cliff hangers, it does seem like this could easily turn into a trilogy or even a series. I felt like there were several unresolved issues i.e. the heroine and our first hero, the "Duke", and when we find out it could potentially be "the beginning" of the new conflict between light and dark. It is because of some issues that I personally felt were unresolved and because of some grammatical errors that I gave the book 4 stars instead of 5. I debated with myself for a while about this. It is probably just me, but because it isn't stated anywhere that this story is to be continued in other books that I gave it a 4 stars. However, with all of that being said if this does end up being a trilogy, even though I was looking forward to a stand alone... I will purchase the other books! I loved the characters, and I hate those unresolved issues.lol. Seriously, the book wasn't a Lark! I'm glad I found it, and you will be too! Erica Cope did great, and I congratulate her on her first novel! Happy Reading :)

Read this to make sure it was ok for my daughter. A good read and safe for young girls to read. The romance is not too intense and the story line is good. Good vs evil kind of story. Will most likely get the second one as well.

Lark is a invigorating story that steers away from the vampire phenomenon that took over the fantasy world. I was not sure what to expect from this book when I bought it but found myself unable to put it down. The storyline of Mia was so well developed and Erica intertwined the other characters into the story beautifully.

This book gives you a little of everything in the journey 17-year-old Mia takes when she learns she is the Light Elf Princess (half human/half elf), struggling to make everyone happy and save her father's kingdom from a prophesy that she was the key to, as well as trying to sort through her feelings for two gorgeous boys (which Mia showed can be quite frustrating). You went on the journey with her and you could almost feel the emotions with her. You could feel the indecisiveness when it came to her feelings for Grey (her friend/protector) and the frustration when he pulled away from her emotionally. Enter in Jacoby which seemed to be quite the opposite of Grey. He was there for her emotionally even though she felt a pull towards Grey whenever they were alone. The balance created between Grey and Jacoby was amazing. I honestly didn't know which way Erica was going to take this seemingly love triangle, but she definitely didn't disappoint and allowed the story to become it's own leaving behind the similarities of previous series I have read.

There was also a lot of mystery set in the characters. It was interesting to see how Erica intertwined it all to where it wasn't just another love story. The prophesy of the Light and Dark Elves brought a whole new element to the story. So while you were cheering her on for a boy, you were also trying to figure out the prophesy and just how Mia fit into it. You also saw her try to make everyone in her father's kingdom, Alfheimr, like her, which proved could be a feat with some of them but for unknown reasons. Mia embraced her elfin side while trying to seem like a normal teenager when she went back to the human world, struggling to try to keep them separated because she couldn't tell anyone, not even her best friend abotu Alfheimr. You can't help but fall in love with Mia and her trials throughout the story.

This story just leaves you wanting more and I can't wait to see what happens next!
