A MARCH OF KINGS is Book #2 in the Bestselling series THE SORCERER'S RING, following A QUEST OF HEROES (BOOK #1) which is available as a FREE download on Amazon, with over 1,000 five star reviews!

A MARCH OF KINGS takes us one step further on Thor’s epic journey into manhood, as he begins to realize more about who he is, what his powers are, and as he embarks to become a warrior.

After he escapes from the dungeon, Thor is horrified to learn of another assassination attempt on King MacGil. When MacGil dies, the kingdom is set into turmoil. As everyone vies for the throne, King’s Court is more rife than ever with its family dramas, power struggles, ambitions, jealousy, violence and betrayal. An heir must be chosen from among the children, and the ancient Dynasty Sword, the source of all their power, will have a chance to be wielded by someone new. But all this might be upended: the murder weapon is recovered, and the noose tightens on finding the assassin. Simultaneously, the MacGils face a new threat by the McClouds, who are set to attack again from within the Ring.

Thor fights to win back Gwendolyn’s love, but there may not be time: he is told to pack up, to prepare with his brothers in arms for The Hundred, a hundred grueling days of hell that all Legion members must survive. The Legion will have to cross the Canyon, beyond the protection of the Ring, into the Wilds, and set sail across the Tartuvian Sea for the Isle of Mist, said to be patrolled by a dragon, for their initiation into manhood.

Will they make it back? Will the Ring survive in their absence? And will Thor finally learn the secret of his destiny?

With its sophisticated world-building and characterization, A MARCH OF KINGS is an epic tale of friends and lovers, of rivals and suitors, of knights and dragons, of intrigues and political machinations, of coming of age, of broken hearts, of deception, ambition and betrayal. It is a tale of honor and courage, of fate and destiny, of sorcery. It is a fantasy that brings us into a world we will never forget, and which will appeal to all ages and genders.

I enjoyed this story, if too short, and wonder why there are so many nasty reviews - mine is not fake!

It has a great plot with characters that fit well into the story. Yes, there are cliches and yes, it could be argued that the characters are one dimensional and repetitious, however, the writing style makes for easy reading and that's no bad thing when looking for an entertaining read.

It is steeped in fantasy and edges in magic, which is slowly building the suspense in the mystery that surrounds Thor. When reading fantasy, the theme of good v evil is expected and heroes and villains are defined - this story fills those roles.

There are some great descriptions that aid the world-building and the idea of the Ring is fascinating. It will be intriguing to see what more lies outside of it and why and how the Ring formed...the sword just adds to the fantasy elements.

I would recommend the story to those who enjoy traditional fantasy that entertains and engages the imagination.

Maybe it is the negative reviews that are fake?

My only concern is the cost for each book, which are not lengthy, although, as an author, I do know how much work goes into writing a book. But for us less wealthy, a lower price would be beneficial. I know I will continue to read this series but may have to wait for it all.

Still, I loved the story and highly recommend it.

Im reading this as an adult, but imagine this is more for a young teen. Not dark enough after reading game of thrones, but that is also fine - it is what it is. Bit clumsy in parts, with a lot of repetition - blame the editor

Good book considering the price tag. I just know i will read the entire series, but not necessarily something I'll recommend to my friends

Well, the story in book 2 reaches a pivotal moment. A horrendous and brutal murder shocks the kingdom, and so we begin a rollercoaster ride. With no sign of slowing down. Thor finds love, but something far darker and powerful stands in their way. Thor must begin a dangerous journey, one in which he might not return. Life can seem so cruel just as things between Thor and his love begin to settle.

The book drives forward with an unrelenting pace. I love books that just grab you and transport you into another world. This book should come with a warning. Don't read late at night before going to bed, you might find youself being awake all night, not wanting to put the book down. The author has done an incredible job here, and put simply you really need to get this book. I loved every single moment of it.

My only very small gripe, comes when the author talks about some of the Monsters, but this is a very small point as well. Yes, there are the same old grammar and spelling mistakes for those who like to nitpick, but again I really don't care about that all. This books is darn good, and is the fastest paced novel i've read since I can rememeber, it's even more fast paced than Twilight, and that was an awesome book in many ways.

This is a Blank review made by me to say that although i havent actually read this book yet im having to put something here as due to amazon linking all these items together on its site the free books i receive from a book club are draging down my standing with a certain review site and causing me to be unacceptable for the items im trying to apply for.
I will Change this Review Message as and when i actually get round to reading each of the books in my listings and will also update my star rating accordingly.

A edge of your seat book. All the emotions are there, being unwanted, a victim, being wanted, a hero, being falsely accused unable to refute slander, being thrown out yet having immense potential, and wanting the next book.

Interesting book which develops the story further. The pricing was fair as it is a short book compared with others. Not sure about continuing though now I see there are 17 books in the set, that's a lot of money, particularly if the books are short like this one. :(

Good solid story though and I enjoyed it and the characters themselves. Book three is tempting me...

I downloaded the first book eons ago and forgot about them out of utter boredom read it - and oh my word it was good! And so is the entire series! It's listed as YA but honestly it has some hard core themes in it without the graphics so it's definitly and older YA so worth it as well for adult fantasy readers. I will be honest, I'm going to be wrecked when I am done the whole series. So to the author - please don't ever stop writing new books please pretty pretty please!!

5.0 out of 5 stars The King Is Dead, The Nation Is in Turmoil and the Legion Is Away - What's Next?
Reviewed in the United States on 19 October 2013
In A March of Kings, Morgan Rice continues the enchanting YA fantasy The Sorcerer's Ring. It begins after Thor's efforts to save the king from poisoning. But the actions started by the power hungry Gareth continue to roll without his direction and result in the king dying anyway. Thor's courage and need to clear his name resulted in the dying king declaring Thor's innocence. Just before he died, King MacGil gave Thor a private message about his heritage and an assignment for the good of the kingdom.

I was relieved to see that Gwen finally came to her senses after Reece clarified what really happen in that tavern in the woods. Fortunately, it was in time for Gwendolyn to reconcile with Thor before he left on the Hundred, a time for testing and growing into manhood and becoming warriors in actuality instead of merely in training.

On the hundred, they will be outside the magic protection of the Ring and beyond the Canyon so they will have wild animals, monsters, and enemies to fight if they are to survive and return to the kingdom. Added to the mix is also a long sea voyage with its hazards.

In A March of Kings, Thor continues to develop and grow into manhood while he discovers more about his powers. Godfrey to makes a major change as he finds a sense of purpose and maturity. Gareth gets his crown. Despite a brief brush with a sense of humanity, though, he successfully reverts to his self-obsessed drive for power and the removal of all dangers to his throne.

Rice gives us enough clues to know that forces are in motion to reveal Gareth's crime which will end his rule as king. In the meantime, their centuries old rivals are on the move to attack the Western Kingdom while its leadership is in turmoil.

There are lots of questions to answer in A Feast of Dragons (Book #3 in the Sorcerer's Ring), not the least of which is how will Thor and his companion on the Hundred survive the Rain Wall and entry into the sea of monsters, the area controlled by the dragons?

3.0 out of 5 stars Starker erster Teil, stark nachgelassen
Reviewed in Germany on 17 July 2016
