Snowdrops: Adventure Three (Book #3 in Adventures of Alex and Katie series) Kindle Edition
Masha, a little girl, is lost in the unexpected storm that could turn deadly.
Alex and Katie rush to the rescue. The wind is picking up, whistling through tree branches, creating white flurries on the ground and erasing Masha’s footprints.
In the distance, a person dressed in a white sparkling coat and a silver hat is walking between the trees.
"Masha!" Alex and Katie start running.
The person turns around. It’s a tall elderly man with a long white beard. His brows are furrowed, and his eyes look cold and furious.
"Who goes here?" the elderly man bellows. "Why are you in my forest?"
He opens his mouth and starts blowing cold air at the kids and at the path, sweeping away all the footprints. Alex shivers from the mind-numbing cold.
"Katie, help! We're going to freeze!" Alex calls out.
"Stay calm and follow my lead. I know exactly what to do," Katie says...

About the author

Julia Gousseva has been writing since she was a little girl in Moscow, Russia, when her grandmother gave her an old leather-bound journal with yellowed pages. The first half of the journal was filled with stories and poems that her grandmother wrote when she was still in school. “Now, it’s your turn to continue writing stories,” she said.
Years later, Julia revised and published some of the stories she wrote in that journal as "Twelve Months of a Soviet Childhood," a collection of short stories that portray a magical and innocent time oblivious to political regimes and problems. Her grandmother, a typical Russian babushka, is a prominent character in the book. Babushka is taking care of children, of her beloved red roses, and is proper in all respects. Thus, when the two little girls in her care end up in a precarious situation in the middle of Gorky Park, babushka has to compose herself before taking decisive action.
Julia was born and raised in Russia when it was still a part of the Soviet Union, and even today Russia remains a mystery not only to the West, but to its own people as well. Julia’s history professors referred to Russia as a country with unpredictable past because every time a new leader came to power, all history books were revised and rewritten. Many of Julia’s stories are set against the backdrop of Russia’s dramatic history.
In addition to being a writer, Julia teaches a variety of critical thinking, critical reading, and writing classes. She loves Russian literature, especially Russian folklore and its unique characters: Baba Yaga the Russian Witch, the magical Firebird, Leshi the Woodsprite, and many others. To help today’s kids enjoy the ancient wisdom of Russian fairy-tales, Julia wrote Adventures of Alex and Katie series where two American kids travel into the world of Russian fairy-tales through a magical fireplace.
Julia and her family live in the American Southwest.

- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 8 December 2013This third story in this folk tale collection does not disappoint.
Continuing the adventures of Alex and Katie whilst they spend the summer with their aunt, this tale takes them back into a fantasy world where they step into a picture.
Here the children learn about the seasons and the importance of being patient and not greedy.
This story, like the others by this author are familiar in their style yet modern in their appeal to a 21st century audience. This is another which is suitable for adults and children as the reader enjoys the adventure with these children.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 13 December 2016I love Alex and Katie's adventures, and this third book did not disappoint. Such a wonderful mix of suspense and thrill, beautifully warm interactions, unique setting of thick Russian forests and the sense of the fairy-tale mixed with reality, such a beautiful taste of the a different world.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 7 December 2016A lovely fairy tale to be enjoyed by both children, teenagers and their parents. Katie and Alex are on another fascinating adventure and in this sweet book they are on a search to find a girl called Masha to save her from the upcoming storm and more. In their pursued for her they come across some very helpful people. Julia Gousseva very cleverly used her imagination and created the amazing characters of the month. This will be a good read for a middle grade child or for a parent to read this fairy tale for a bedtime story.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 11 December 2016A YA/Children fairy-tale that is both chilling (literary) and gripping. Snowdrops is book #3 in Adventures of Alex and Katie series. A great Holiday gift for children of all ages.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 18 September 2015Snowdrops: Adventure Three. This third story in this folk tale collection is amazing. My grandchildren loved it. So did I! It's a continuation of the adventures of Alex and Katie. They step into a picture and the fantasy world begins. Easy to read chapters, the lessons learned are the importance of patience and not being greedy. Looking forward to more from author Julia Gousseva. High marks for sure!!!

YA/Children Fairy tale. Julia Gousseva tells a fantastic tale!
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 6 December 2016Snowdrops: Adventure Three (Nook #3 in the Adventures of Alex and Katie) is simply and joyously that: an adventure. Alex and Katie are always getting into trouble, er, adventures. In this third outing for the charming duo, they surpass even their past abilities to wrap both adults and children in their arms and take readers on a fascinating trip. As this story starts, a warm morning in June turns cold enough that snowflakes fall on grass and flowers. Thick white snowflakes fall from the sky, covering the fresh green grass and freezing flowers. The unexpected storm traps Masha, a young girl, in the deadly cold. Alex and Katie hurry to the rescue while the wind picks up and the snow obliterates Masha's footprints...
Such is the world in which Alex and Katie perform their feats. Julia Gousseva brings a wonderful combination of fun and challenge to these stories, always focused on adventures that both children and parents can enjoy. And oh, if you think this is just a sweet treat, there's always a frightening figure of two, real peril.. Enter the man white long, white beard and the angry eyes who demands "Why are you in my forest." -- Enjoy.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 25 September 2015Alex and Katie are spending the summer with their aunt, ultimately leading them into an alternate fantasy world. Think: Chronicles of Narnia, but more focused on a younger audience, with each book in this series having a theme of sorts that works on educational content and morals. For this book, it's about the seasons of the year and the important of patience and not being greedy. I've now passed this one on to my ten year old son to read. I think he'll enjoy the action, mystery, and danger that this magical tale has to offer.

5.0 out of 5 stars

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Children's Series
The stories contained in this series are wonderful easy-to-read chapter books with elements of magic, subtle moral lessons, and the enthralling sensation of old Russian fairytales albeit modernised for today's kids.
In 'Snowdrops: Adventure Three', Alex and Katie venture into the frozen forest to help find a little, lost girl. They meet Father Frost and suddenly it's a miraculous encounter with all seasons at once. Winter magic at its best!

5.0 out of 5 stars Children's Fantasy that teaches a lesson
The world outside their aunt's house is filled with fun and educational fantasy. Alex & Kate are at it again and they need to find their way home. This time the children learn about weather and changing seasons. This is a series you can enjoy even as an adult. Another great edition. 5 stars!
