Since putting out his first book: Eye of the Moonrat in May of 2012, Trevor H. Cooley has sold over 250,000 copies of his books through Kindle and Audible.

He was born in South Carolina and has lived all around the United states, including Utah, New Mexico, Michigan and Tennessee.

His love of reading started in the second grade with Lloyd Alexander's Chronicles of Prydain series. He couldn't get enough and continued with David Eddings, Tolkein, Robert Jordan, Stephen King, and many others. Since then, all he wanted was to become a published writer.

The characters and concepts that eventually became the Bowl of Souls series started in his teens. He wrote short stories, kept notebooks full of ideas, and generally dreamed about the world constantly. There were several attempts at starting a novel over the years.

Not long after he was married, his wife told him to stop talking about the story and write it down. Many years and rewrites and submissions and rejection letters later, he finally put the books on Amazon.

Have read all 7 of these books and am looking forward to Book 8. The story is excellent and with a lot of thought on how to progress each of the characters. They grow with the story, and an exciting story it is.
To start off with you want to smack Justan but slowly he grows up before your eyes and we begin to see the making of a strong, likable character. Fist, Deathclaw and Gwyrtha all bring a different perspective to the story and add more depth to the characters. They all play a central part to the story which I like rather than just being extras added for the sake of it.
This story is a continuing saga and I like all the twists and turns that it offers and also the fact that there is a war going on and some of the characters that you like die as well and those who live suffer greatly.
As I said before like this story and looking forward to the next installment.

For all of it's problems books like this are why the kindle is great, a little self published gem like this series. I picked up the first book on a whim because of the low price and intriguing description and also because I liked the idea of the moonrats. I am glad I did, this series has been absorbing, volume 3 in particular has had some great parts and kept me hooked for hours not wanting to put it down. A lot of the characters are coming together now and the book is building towards what will be an interesting part four. Okay there are a few probes u do get with self published books, it does maybe lack the spit and polish of the major fantasy authors. But not enough to distract you from what at the end of the day is a great tale and that is what counts a lot of the time. I look forward to book 4 I think these have got better as have gone on and if you are coming here from book 2 having enjoyed that cannot see anything to hate on here.

After the end of the second book I was hoping this book wouldn't disappoint. It didn't. The story developed and more characters were introduced, Ezwad Vrill came back with a vengence and his creation 'Talon' wreaked havoc throughout the book. This book actually made me shed a tear when Fist was finally made his own bed, one big enough to fit him. He is such a brilliant character. The books have the right amount of war and brutality, compassion and love, hatred and evil, adventure and magic and good versus evil. They are fast paced, but the author leaves your imagination running wild, and I have found these books a refreshing change. It's not often you come across a series of books you really love. My last one was Peter.v Brett 's 'The Painted Man' series, but in all honesty I prefer these books.

I am really enjoying this series. Best fantasy adventure series I have read in ages. I really enjoy the way the characters are building. I like finding out more about Justin's abilities in each book. It definitely keeps your interest. Can't put the books down I will be gutted when I have to start waiting for another to come out. But for now on to the next and can't wait

Its not easy to find a book that completely draws you in for hours. Cooley's writing excels at this and does so in such a fashion that suggests the birth of a new fantasy star.

I am truly enjoying this series. I'm so glad that I gave this a try. Normally I find fiction hard to get into. But I am now hooked on Cooley's fantasy world

Not quite as intricate a plot as book 2, but much smoother and more interesting than book 1.

The world is really fleshing out, and the characters are all very well drawn and developing beautifully.

5.0 out of 5 stars BoS: Hunt of the Bandham (Book 3)
Reviewed in the United States on 17 September 2012
Book 3 of 5, the story continues from book 2 and mostly shows character and plot development, characters cross paths and new history is revealed as well as some questions answered. I was excited to read this book and when I finally did, my excitement only grew until I got to the last page.

    Story line/Content:
A weary Justan finally makes his way to find Master Coal, and with minor relevant interruptions to his journey. Will Justan ever find out more about his frost rune? Will Lockshear ever get a clue? Will Lenny and Qyxal ever get along? Will Master Coal reveal his secrets to Justan? Will Faldon ever learn to spell? Will Gwyrtha's mysterious past ever be revealed? These and many more questions are answered!!!!

    Editing:
Flawless, there were no typos and the formatting for this third installment was solidly followed through the entire book. Characters were quite defined and easy to understand who was speaking. The issue where you could not read in black background and white text previously (on certain kindle apps), was fixed by author and the update will be pushed by amazon.

    Off Topic:
I'm not sure if its just me reading it too fast, or if the book just seems too short. The story does envelop you in it, this holds especially true for this third installment of the series as the characters grasp at you and pull you into the story. As much as I liked the first two books I think is is my favorite and as much as I have to be patient and wait till next year for the 4th book, I know they will be worth the wait. Good books are worth the time and effort to be composed and polished, this is what makes the 4th book worth waiting for.

    Overall:
In my humble opinion, this book was the most amazing of the series (so far, since at the time of the review books 4 & 5 do not yet exist). I was and exhilarating ride to find new developments, and each time I read these books I keep trying to figure out what will happen next and I am even more pleasantly surprised to find out that I am incorrect and that the story has a much better plot and than the easily foreseeable. Overall this book is so enjoyable and so much better than the first two that I find it difficult to think how does the author keep outdoing himself. I look forward to the last two books and despite finding out that the new book will be out sometime next year. I feel confident especially after reading this book, that they are and will definitely be worth the wait. Trevor you have truly outdone yourself with this novel and I have no doubts the ending will be monumental and a set of books worth owning.

4.0 out of 5 stars It really should be 4 1/2 stars.
Reviewed in the United States on 10 October 2012
You'll understand my strange title when you read this. When I am at work, I read a lot of technical items. So when I read for pleasure, I want to be able to immerse myself in a story and bond with the characters. I want to feel what they feel and see what they see. Mr. Cooley is an incredible story teller and writer, which are actually two separate talents. He has successfully created a world full of intriguing characters with their own unique personalities and foibles and is able to interweave their stories without overwhelming the senses. That is why I love his books. I actually could have given this book 5 stars because the story is so wonderful; but for me, there is one flaw: Talon.

SPOILER ALERT if you haven't read the book, stop reading this.

I'm not going to talk about all of the characters in the book, that would be foolish and time consuming. Just some of my favorite parts.

Lockshear's methodology is brilliant. He could give Sherlock Holmes a run for his money.

Jhonate and Vannya meet and a chick fight ensues. To paraphrase a conversation...
Vannya: "Justan never mentioned you were so beautiful."
Jhonate: "Justan never mentioned you at all." (score!)

Justan's bonds with Fist and Gwyrtha grow stronger and he is able to discover more about his bonding magic. We also find out exactly why Fist and Squirrel get along so well. It was a, "That makes perfect sense!" moment for me.

Deathclaw. My buddy. I love him. I've bonded with him from the moment "we met." I'm so happy with his turn of events. I am looking forward to watching him evolve and grow even more. I want to see him increase in intelligence and understanding of human ways. I want to be the first one to buy the Deathclaw action figure. Maybe get a life-sized one for the living room. I love Deathclaw.

Talon. I hate what is happening with Talon. She's a monster. She hasn't evolved or learned anything other than to kill and find pleasure in killing. But how much learning can you do in a dungeon cell, right? Give her her freedom and let her evolve into something other than a monster. But, is it too late? Has the damage been done? Will she have to be killed? Will Deathclaw be able to catch her and kill her?

So the book has left me anxious, worried, and a bit unfulfilled. I am very much looking forward to the next installment. I hope at least some of my questions regarding Talon can be answered. I have become some-what obsessed with these characters. But that's not a bad thing, right?

Mr. Cooley has created a UNIQUE world full of monsters, midgets, swords and magic...and this review applies to the 1st 3 books of the series.
Many have reviewed that it is a youth genre novel, but i disagree...while reading this i have no problem imagining the action and violence that takes place in this world. The story flows in such a way that you find yourself trying to put it down but telling your self "JUST ONE MORE CHAPTER"...
you will b hard pressed to find another series from such a creative author that has all the elements that EVERYONE can take something out of...action,humor, bloody mayhem, magic, warriors and warriors w gifted powers, evil guys and REALLY evil guys conquesting over an empire.
The characters continue their own development in a way that does not hold the overall story back w lots of flashbacks.
you will LOVE the action, the story, the banter between all the characters and the pacing of the series.
The immersive world in which Mr. Cooley creates will have you addicted.
BUY THE 1ST book and you wont regret it...the price of all 3 are super cheap for the quality you will get in return and i for one would pay MUCH MORE... these are MUST READS!!!
