Its rather similar to twilight in the set up of the characters and story but with some changes. This is much slower moving i.e. vampires are kind of only introduced right at the end. Some characters are frustrating with their slowness to realise things and some relationship development could be good. Very edgy - I was rather jumpy through the middle of the book which shows how well written it was. Overall good easy read, excellent if this is a first novel (I read that somewhere) and the second instalment priced reasonably so will certainly buy that.

I wasn't expecting it to be so good!
Looking for an easy read, I came over Blur and intrigued by the cover and the price, I know - typical, decided to give it a go.
As I said before, the plot turned out to be much more interesting than I expected, all the twists (even though I guessed some) and the dialogue made it an easy and exciting read.
I'd recommend it to anyone looking for quickie - it's worth it!

first off for your first book it was pretty good. personally I think it was slightly rushed, and doesn't go into detail quite enough. If possible try and make the chapters longer and more descriptive so the reader will be able to picture the seen. Also I like how you used stream it m of thought, to make even better use more stream of thought so we get to know her better. Overall the plot was slightly 'cliche' but you put your own unique twist to it. There were also a few grammatical errors, such as misuse of commas. but overall well done!

I downloaded this book purely because it was free and if I'd paid for it I'd be requesting a refund.

So I'm 84% in and I'm giving up...

    Reasons being:
So they get into their new town and tbh the beginning immediately sucked me in. I genuinely thought I was going to love this book as a quick read.
No. this was not the case.
So they immediately get jobs (how convenient) They immediately make friends (How convenient)
And their friend Duncan happens to be hot and fabulous and oh yeah... let's not forget the fact he has around 20 security cameras just lying around.. I mean, who doesn't right?
Does the author not have any idea how expensive security cameras are? Just for one?
Yet he just had them lying around, a boat mechanic... and his dad had no problem with him just taking them. He even states that he has none up outside his house... I mean... WHY??? Why buy security cameras and just not use them???
It would have been more believable if this amazing cabin they had been given with celebrity bathrooms already had security cameras... I mean... the owner is clearly loaded!! Who is the owner by the way??? No idea, some guy living miles away who has no idea what security cameras are due to the fact he spent thousands on the interior but didn't think to protect the cabin whilst he was away allllll year.

    That was forgivable.

The next part that made me laugh was how quickly they came to discovering vampires with no evidence!! Yet they couldn't figure out that Caleb was a vampire even though they already knew vampires existed and they had evidence showing that Caleb is most likely one too!!!! I mean... really?? Are they backwards stupid??? Oh... freaky shadows... must be a vampire... Let's call the guy who never goes out in the sun, who whenever our mum is with him she's suddenly pale and ill and oh yeah... let's not forget the fact that she had bite marks on her neck after hanging around with the dude too... Let's forget all of that and stupidly not put two and two together. But oh look, another shadow... ach, a vampire.

Introducing Ethan... I mean... Lol... need I say more?

This book is just one event straight after the other, there are no in between bits, no way for us to connect to the characters. It all happens so fast. I felt like I just got hit by a book train. My head hurts. Sorry. :/

I have since finished this novel as I hate to leave things unfinished, and will not be buying book 2... :(

Got this on a whim, just to read something and I'm so glad I did! Loveable characters, always kept you interested and such a brilliant story beginning to unfold, read it in one go and even bought the second book straight after, I couldn't wait to see what was next. Definitely a good read.

Great characters, loved the fact that the author didnt spend half the book just setting the scene, however the story is pretty short and not alot actually happens. Just when Nikki finally puts the pieces together and we learn slightly more about the vampires the book ends. Although i enjoyed it overall, it does not compell me to purchase the next installment as i feel it would be frustating to purchase the next book and find it lacking as much detail on the vampires as the first. It is a shame as this could have been a great read with few extra chapters and some details about the vampire characters.

Loved the book -easy read and enticing -was disappointed it was so short as there was so much more that could have been included but as a novella it's a definite must... excellent work x

I loved this book!! I was especially drawn to Ethan, the sexy vampire.
This book is different from any other vampire book, and I appreciate that.
I was only disappointed because to me it seemed like a short read, I wish that it was a tad longer... But overall great read!!

I got an offer from Kindle to try this book for free. I'm glad I decided to read it. I had read several reviews and wasn't prepared to actually love the story. I read it within 2 hours. I've always loved books/movies about vampires, mostly the hot sexy ones. I loved the innocence of the relationship between Nikki & Duncan. That's very normal for their age. I also loved Nathan's personality and the way they teased each other but loved each other fiercely. I did realize right away that Caleb was a vampire, the night he brought Anne home and she started acting strange. As the author explained at the end of Blur, I understand why Nikki behaves the way she does around Ethan, even after he is gone and told her he hadn't used any mind control since their first meeting. So, she's confused but in reality I think whatever she feels for him is due to the pheromones and not from her heart. I am concerned for her mom and what's going to happen when she changes. I already purchased "Shiver" and will be reading the entire series. The one thing I'm really worried about is Duncan, since he truly loves Nikki and I am afraid he'll get hurt, oh and then there's Nathan's raging hormones and Celeste...I can't wait to find out what happens and who is behind the murders of the young women that look similar to Nikki. This is a great first book to the series, if you love it, you'll be intrigued and want to figure everything out. Kristen Middleton is now on my top 20 favorite author's list!
