Book Description:
Nick Woods used to be one of our country's greatest snipers. A Marine who completed a bloody, top-secret mission behind enemy lines years ago, he now just wants to live in peace with his wife.
But Nick is about to get caught in a grand conspiracy between a senior investigative reporter and a shadowy, CIA group.
After said reporter, Allen Green, breaks the details of Nick's story -- blowing the top off America's national security -- both Nick and Allen find themselves in the sights of a CIA hunter-killer group.
This CIA group breaks the law and kills at will, and they'll stop at nothing to take down Nick Woods and the reporter who published the earth-shattering story he'd been chasing for years.
“Sold Out” is the first book in the spectacular Nick Woods series, which spans four books and multiple continents.

- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 9 May 2016This is an ideal read for those who want action from page one. However I only gave 4 stars because of the repetitive references to the heroes mistrust of the government, too many times for me..

- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 28 October 2018When you conspire to eliminate any witnesses of your past acts, no matter how important to national security they may have been, Nick Woods had better not be on your list of targets! With the help of a former top flight journalist, Nick sets about turning the tables on his secret enemies, who just do not realise what a destructive force they have released upon themselves.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 21 May 2016Fast paced and very believable!
A real page turner with characters you can empathise with. Hard to believe it is the author's first book.

One of the better books I have read. Action packed and exciting, great characters good story line. I can't imagine what some soldiers go through especially the covert operations. I also believe that some politicians abuse there authority.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Highly Captivating Novel
This story is extremely intriguing, full of exciting action, and reasonably well written. The plot is outlined in the Book Description but is inaccurate in places. The government agents aren't CIA, and their target isn't paranoid, just good. To add a little color to the plot description, if anything would piss you off about clandestine actions of the government, rogue or otherwise, this book is guaranteed to do that - the murder of Nick's wife and the defamation of the reporter Allen, for starters. As one who worked for the intelligence community, I think such actions would occur very rarely if at all. But a single one would be an unforgivable atrocity. Now on to the extraordinary characters Mitchell presents.
The main character Nick, a world-class sniper from the South, is one bad-ass, vicious piece of work for a "good guy". You won't find anything like him - at least I haven't - in any of hundreds of books of this genre. It's well worth a read just to encounter this ruthless dude. And another main character, the mild-mannered reporter Allen, is also a piece of work, starting out as a New York liberal but one who gets where Nick's coming from. Together their opposite skills become highly synergistic, and both seek and find some very hot encounters with the far more vicious "bad guys".
All of this is powerfully exciting, amounting to a really genuine page-turner, if you'll pardon that trite expression.
I would only quibble about one unrealistic thing, besides the leader of the rogue operators being a Republican vs. a Democrat senator. Mitchell should have spent more time in Oak Ridge,Tennessee. That city, originating under government control (part of the Manhattan Project), has zero "rundown areas" or "seedy hotels" and "rough joints", not one of them in town. If Mitchell thought he needed such a place in the plot (and he really didn't), perhaps the nearby town of Clinton would have done. (P.S., I'm not from Oak Ridge or even from the South.)
And, for completeness, there is one minor gaffe in the plot. Near the end, Nick and Allen HAD to know that the cabin near Gatlinburg was a trap. Whitaker and Hanks boss was sure to have their pictures and full knowledge of what transpired before.
Finally, the ending might not satisfy some idealists but is eminently practical and realistic.

I love series books and I read a LOT of including the Jack Reacher series and I enjoyed this book very much. Nick Woods is a character that I look forward to seeing what other trouble he gets himself out of. Thanks for the great read!
