Hello, I'm Marisa from Ireland. I started writing when I was a flight attendant. I wrote on planes and in my hotel rooms. In fact when I wrote my first book, Mr Right for the Night, I wrote it all on hotel notepaper with a pencil!

Now I have written fifteen books including two kids' books.

I am a bit of a shopaholic - books and clothes are my downfall! I love Sophie Kinsella and Marian Keyes' books. They're funny and romantic. Books are a great way of entertaining myself, especially in lockdown! I do love travelling, especially to New York and LA!

I work full-time at home now. I live by the beach in West Clare, which is the most beautiful place in Ireland. I have one child and I foster dogs and cats. If you wish to check out my website it is www.marisamackletravel.ie

The story focuses on a number of women that all went to school together and have been invited to a reunion. The main character, Anna is still single and is looking for someone to take with her so that she doesn't look too hopeless.

The story is quite long, and I felt that it jumped about a bit too much as it moved from one person to the other. Sometimes, I thought it became a little confusing as I couldn't quite understand which of the main characters the section was about. This was not helped by the page formatting which was quite poor; I also noticed a number of spelling and other text errors, which didn't help.

However, it does have a certain amount of charm about it, and if you take the time to understand them, the motivations of the different people do become fairly easy to follow. The is a certain amount of humour in the story although not enough to make me laugh out loud.

It's not the easiest book to read especially because of the format problems, but once you get past that, it could be a good story.

This was just a little odd - a series of not-going-to-go-anywhere hookups, a friend with a marriage crisis that isn't and a very obvious final suitor but they only admit their feelings as she is leaving Ireland at the end of the story. There is no clear POV as every character seems to have one and I never found the romance or the humour in this book. I did get it for free on Kindle bestsellers though...

This book really isn't worth it, and i dont mind a bit of easy reading "chick lit". Marian Keyes it certainly is not. Amateurish in the way it has been written, cliched to within an inch of its life, mawkish and unbelievable storyline, i couldnt give a toss about any of the characters in the end and was flicking over the pages quickly to see if it was going to improve. It was as if it had been written by a teenager as a school project, really no substance at all (even for a girlie romantic comedy type of book). The other thing which drove me nuts is the pathetic formatting, random sentences popping up in the middle of paragraphs, the layout was horrible to read with broken pages and sentence breaks in completely the wrong places, the words "page breaks" popping up all over the place. That didnt help either, but she certainly isnt an author i will be going back to.

3.0 out of 5 stars 恐怖の同窓会
Reviewed in Japan on 11 August 2003

5.0 out of 5 stars great to read about a 30yr old women instead of 19 or 20 somethings

Its a great story of a woman in her thirty 's for a change) trying to find a date for a reunion. With four male characters in play none seemed to work out. Also dreading the fact of having to see the girls that use to terrorise her. She does get her own back and gets her dream man.

1.0 out of 5 stars Boring
Reviewed in Germany on 12 February 2012
Let's start with a good thing: The beginning is nice and so are the first 20 pages but then one starts to wonder why the protagonist does't change jobs, why she doesn''t realize how nice her good male friend is, what kind of relationship she and her best female friend have and when this boring story will ever stop. The characters are not believable and therefore the whole story does't make any sense. I will never read a book by this author again.

5.0 out of 5 stars good for its genre
Reviewed in the United States on 1 March 2014
Figured I'd write up my thoughts on this one since I haven't written a review in awhile. It's a romance book after all and not serious lit. But a fun read, especially if you are into Ireland and its people. The characters are totally believable and imperfect, like humans are. If you are looking for a fantasy where miss perfect meets mr perfect and picks out linens with him, this is not that book. Other people who maybe should avoid this book are: seriously religious people (casual sex), teetotalers (loads of drinking), and people who are generally annoyed when the protagonist avoids doing what everyone thinks she should.

Other than that, this is a light fun read that makes modern Ireland come alive for those of us who can't afford to visit.

The one thing I'll add in regards to those couple of Americans saying that Americans wouldn't get into this book that much, there are several thinly veiled insults directed at Americans in this book. It's just stupid stuff, kind of on the order of the brit vs american youtube videos (perhaps all those English are finally rubbing off?). But pretty noticeable if you are not one of the few conspicuous ignorant American tourists that Ireland no doubt gets every year. One does probably expect that they are not going to be personally insulted by the book that they purchase and read.

I recently the misremembered man/the disenchanted widow and I think that I just enjoy books set in Ireland with characters that resemble real people. So I will probably pick up more of Marisa's books. Even though I, too, might wear green if I ever make it to Ireland. ;)

4.0 out of 5 stars Unlikable main character

I did like this story but I didn't love it. Anna comes as a self-serving skunk whom all men should be begging for her company

Claire's story was much more interesting to, me.
