About the author

David Martin, born in Chester in 1984, is a writer and illustrator known as Dunkle Deed, a name given by his niece when she was two and trying to say ‘Uncle David!’
Deed's journey into writing children's books began when a bee unexpectedly flew into his face. Feeling remorse after accidentally hitting the bee, he was inspired to write a poem. It wasn't until well into his twenties that he realised his talent for drawing.
Beyond his artistic endeavours, Deed manages a mental health support team. He dedicates himself to helping people who are experiencing sadness or have faced challenging situations, aiding them in finding comfort and healing. Deed has always been passionate about helping others, with a career spanning various roles in care and support services for individuals with autism and mental and physical disabilities. He takes pride in his empathetic approach to life and work.
Deed is also an enthusiastic singer and a member of Johns' Boys Male Chorus, a Welsh male voice choir.
Deed resides in the serene Shropshire countryside in the United Kingdom, enjoying life with his two children.

- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 21 January 2013This book is brilliant, my grandchildren as well as myself loved the story. The pictures drawn by the author are great and very colorful. My friend first bought Dunkle Deed books and told me the kids would love them and she was right. My grandchildren couldn't stop laughing and have had me read them over and over again. The elephant who exaggerated has also encouraged them to use their imagination, they actually want to pick this book up and read it(repeatedly)Which is always a good thing.
Well done Dunkle Deed you really have an amazing talent and are a true artist. I hope you keep writing and I will certainly recommend your truly wonderful books for the excitement and pleasure they have brought to my grandchildren as well as a considerably older lady :-)

He asked me to read it over and over again, I read it with expression and exaggeration which I think my nephew enjoyed. I loved it too! It's worth every penny and more!

I personally thought the rhymes were lovely and the illustrations perfectly matched the text. Having contacted the seller/author he kindly signed the book for my nephew. Great personal touch.

5.0 out of 5 stars No Exaggeration!
Eeedgar is one elephant who likes to exaggerate...and the lesson is made clear for your child in this beautifully told tale. With a three year old niece who LOVES books,(unless she doesn't) the fact Eeedgar has received such staunch approval is a testament to the the storytelling. Beautifully illustrated, this is a fantastic addition to your child's reading program.
