Strong storyline

Strong storyline
This is Book Two in 'The Advocate Series.' Sabre Orin Brown is an attorney who represents children that have came from a difficult background. But when a friend is murdered and his wife is accused of his murder, Sabre knows it's going to be up to her to find the truth behind the death. Only working within the juvenile count, Sabre knows it’s not going to be as straightforward as she would like it to be. Nothing is what it seems once Sabre digs deeper into the murder. This story is a legal based thriller with a strong female character, Sabre Orin Brown. I found it a strong storyline that had me invested from the very beginning.

This is Book 2 of The Advocate Series by Teresa, and Sabre is back with another shocking story.

Sabre is once again battling courts, advocating for children... oh, and supporting a friend accused of Murder.

All in a day's work really for our Sabre!

I absolutely ADORE Teresa's writing style and how she pulls you into the story even though it's told in 3rd person.

It is utterly fascinating to see behind the scenes of the American judicial system, and given Teresa's background, you can be pretty confident she's remained true to real life.

In this story, a friend of Sabre's is accused of murder and she battles to prove their innocence...however, all is not as it seems...

The loveable JP is back once again, too, and oh boy, do i hope Sabre and JP get together in future 😍.

Exciting, thrilling, and utterly addictive...yet another fantastic book! That ending!!! 😮 !

I cannot wait to read the next book in the series!

    Highly recommend!

The Advocates Betrayal is the second in The Advocate series and a series I very much intend to continue following 2 fantastic reads.

The story begins a few months following the end of The Advocate and we join Sabre Brown as she is rebuilding her life and home following the outcome of the previous book. She has found happiness in a new love and is continuing to do well at work. Things become difficult for Sabre again when her friend is arrested. The story has many twists as they try to find out what really happened and what secrets are being kept from Sabre and her friends.

Not only is the character of Sabre further developed throughout the story we also learn more about JP who was introduced in a smaller role in book one and he is a character that I found very interesting and I enjoyed his story just as much as Sabres.

If you like crime thrillers then this book and series is for you.

Here is my review for The Advocates Betrayal by Teresa Burrell

This book is a great read from the start and it’s lovely to be back with Sabre Orin Brown, although her juvenile cases are enough to make you cringe at times. She is a terrific attorney and a brilliant advocate for children that she represents. The plotting in this story is superb and so is the writing. The descriptive text is terrific with excellent explanations for everything. The storyline is brilliant and includes a murder of one of her best friends then the arrest of another one as the murderer. Sabre then takes on the case whereas she has never represented a murder case before. She is convinced her friend didn’t do it. I really enjoyed this book and found it hard to put down as I wanted to know what happened next. This is a terrific series and this is book two.

The Killer left nothing behind but a rosary, a kitchen knife, and a dead man. but the dead man is a friend of Sabre Orin Brown. When his unsuspecting wife is accused of the murder, Sabre will stop at nothing to uncover the truth, even if it means unearthing chilling secrets. From a San Diego jail to the shady Chicago nightlife, Sabre's search for the true killer forces her to face the question: What do you do when the ones you trust the most are the ones with the most to hide?

A generally readable tale despite uneven story telling, shallow characterisation, a great deal of repetition and poor integration of sub-plots.
This vacillated between being a romance, a courtroom drama, and a mystery thriller without fully satisfying in any genre.
Sabre, the main character, seemed also to have too many inconsistencies to make her believable in any role. She was a melting female, calm and controlled in the presence of a murdered friend, now and again a decisive attorney, frequently afraid for little reason, continually self-questioning in minor matters, often full of angst which manifested itself physically etc. Her emotional state suited the plot but often rang false.
Her concern over Betty and her guilt, or innocence, became a trial in itself as it was hammered into us.
The KKK family case seemed extraneous to the whole thing and didn't really add the colour to the Sabre character it ought to have done.
A curate's egg of a story but in places flowed along well enough to promise that the writer will later produce a more palatable whole.

Some of this story lacks clarity but this may be the result of it being written by an American author. The twist in the story becomes fairly obvious early on.

Enjoyed the twists and turns in the story line. Recommend reading if you like a good mystery, a must read
  • Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 25 September 2014
In places the story motors along: in others, readers can scarcely emerge out of the seas of boredom that envelop them. The writer has a raw talent but it is insufficiently honed to compose a complete tale with diverse story lines. She needs the guidance of a firm editor as well as careful proof readers to eliminate the puerile errors and typos spattered throughout the book. Listed in the Table of Contents is the Pologue which in some ways is appropriate since many crucial incidents and discoveries do, indeed, deserve to be deposited in the goesunder (as a chamber pot was once described). In parts the plot is threadbare rescued by pure luck and fortuitous occurrences. However, she can only improve and the book as a whole merits giving her another chance.

Doesn't stop the momentum from the very beginning. Usually It's difficult to keep me interested but couldn't put this one down. Only problem, I wanted it to continue after final words were spoken by the killer. I get really immersed when it's a great read, and the characters become real to me, so I want more...
