I liked the idea and it was a quick read, also it quite dragged me in, overall it was a pleasurable experience to read this book
However, it lacked explanations, I couldn't help but feel that things were rushed through, forgotten by the author - there could have been more to the main character's past with a perpetrator, some characters had kind of no real reason to be so much in a story (wife, kids). Too general as for my liking.... id like to see it improved with deeper psychiatric insight... :)

This book was unbelievable! I genuinely couldn't put it down. It is so well written and yet so disturbing, I felt like I needed to finish it so I could move on from it, as it was constantly on my mind. I mainly read psychological thrillers so it becomes harder to find books that actually 'psychologically thrill' but this one definitely does! The usual twists and turns you'd hope for in a book like this, all wrapped up in an asylum for the criminally insane and heart in your mouth moments. I genuinely felt like I knew the characters, they were so well written. The insight into the workings of the mind that most would just label as 'crazy' make you really think about what could be behind someone's behaviour. What makes a monster? I genuinely loved this book and for the first time in years have a new favourite author! You will not regret reading this.

A rather frightening story with some very gruesome and detailed scenes of mutilation and maiming. Unfortunately some parts of the story seemed a bit disjointed but overall well worth reading. I must admit to have become slightly confused as to the actual possible connection between London and Jack the Ripper and some strange nutter in America!

It took a chapter to get into this book. However, I found that I was gripped by it and was looking forward to the next chapter (some of which are very short). The idea was good; the story was well told and no massive jumps to get to where it needed to be although close to a "what!?" moment a few times.
I agree the end seemed a little rushed and maybe some more explanation of the why. But I am sure that just helps the mystery.
Overall a very good read and I will certainly go and read some of the authors other works.

Spannend und blutig geschrieben, allerdings ist das Ende etwas zu einfach. Kein Vergleich mit Hannibal Lektor, der vielschichtiger geschrieben ist.

This is the first book from this author that I have read. It was masterfully composed with just enough to lead you to see where it was going while holding back enough to make the twists and turns of the storyline a surprise. The characterization was brilliant and believable as was the insight into the mind of the criminally insane. A great read.

When I started reading this book, I was so excited because it's a REAL book! It's edited well and is an excellent story!
It's disgusting, horrifying, thrilling, suspenseful and everything you want in a book!
Everything written down is gripping and interesting, it's so hard to pull yourself away to eat or tend to other things in your life!
When I got to 75% of the way I noticed some typos. Nothing drastic, but it meant that the book wasn't perfect anymore.
But really, I don't mind too much because I absolutely LOVED this book!
My new favourite author is CLEGG!
