Legends and Myths From Wales - Central Wales Kindle Edition

4.4 out of 5 stars 15 ratings

In this book, the third in the series, you will find a selection of sixteen legends, each of which relates to a particular place in Central Wales.
Black Bart the Pirate, Owain Glyndwr, the Red Dragon of Wales, the Five Saints and the Red Bandits of Mawddwy are just a few of the characters you will meet in these pages. Learn where the Red Dragon of Wales lives today, why a Welsh pirate, who dressed like a dandy, was the most feared in the world, how the drovers travelled the land and created their own banking system and how King Arthur destroyed the evil monster they called the Barfog. Discover the Lost Land of Wales, the Salt Smugglers of Mawddach and the secret of the Robber’s Grave.
As you read the legends you will be dipping into a rich Celtic culture of stories that have been told and retold over hundreds of years, keeping listeners entertained on dark winter nights when the warmth of a log fire and the flicker of flames made anything possible.

Hi. I’m Graham Watkins and I have spent several years researching Welsh legends and myths. It has been a wonderful project and great fun as I explored rugged mountains, mysterious castles, enchanting waterfalls and golden beaches to discover the tales that have been handed down from generation to generation. Wales is a land of mystery and being a Celtic race the Welsh are fantastic story tellers. I've collected eighty of my favourite legends together in my book 'Welsh Legends and Myths.'

That’s how I started writing. My first novel 'The Iron Masters' was an historical novel set in Merthyr during the Napoleonic Wars when Merthyr Tydfil was rearming the British Empire, fortunes were being made through other's sweat and anything was possible. Today, I am a multi genre novelist, hobby farmer and explorer. It’s all been great fun and the story isn’t over yet. I've recently published 'A White Man's War,' the story of a terrible siege during which the Scouting movement was born and 'The Sicilian Defence' a novel about a young American Woman lured to Sicily to a terrible fate.

Right now I'm working on a modern day political thriller in which terrorists, computer programmers and a big brother state fight for their very survival. Checkout my website for the latest news and details of free eBooks which I love to give away. www.grahamwatkins.info I know you'll enjoy them and come back for more.

This is a great little book to get lost in. Each of the short stories in the book are well written and a pleasure to read. I wish I could put into words how much I enjoyed this book. My favourite story is Melangell and the Hare. It’s beautiful.

An interesting collection of stories. I had not heard of many of the stories as I come from West Wales therefore it was good to read this eBook to understand legends and myths from other areas of Wales apart from the West. I was particularly interested in the story about Owain Glyndwr as it was a subject touched upon when I went to secondary school. I would definitely recommend to others who wish to learn more about the legends and myths from Central Wales.
This is not the first e-book I have read by the author and I will definitely be reading more books by the author as the style of writing used is easy to read and understand and the stories flow well without repetition (which I tend to find with other authors who have covered this genre).
